Sony had dibs on HoYoverse’s hottest new urban action RPG Zenless Zone Zero, but the title’s period of PS5 console exclusivity is coming to an end.
After originally teasing an Xbox release in what many interpreted as an April Fool’s Day joke, now the Chinese developer has announced a livestream where it’ll officially reveal the port alongside other “exciting new updates”.
The good news for PS5 players is that there’ll likely be onboarding events and other rewards for newcomers, which will need to be offered to everyone due to the release’s cross-platform nature. That means there’s the possibility of free pulls and five stars, as well as redemption codes.
Back when Genshin Impact released on the Xbox Series X|S, the developer handed out a free glider for those playing on Microsoft’s machine, but that’s since been unlocked for everyone.
We’d expect the Xbox port to launch alongside the game’s first anniversary, which will occur in early July. It’s perhaps worth noting that Sony only had six-month console exclusivity on the title to begin with, but it can take time for these types of ports to materialise.
Eventually we’d expect all of HoYoverse’s games to be available everywhere, including the Nintendo Switch 2, but Sony’s initial courting of the developer has served it well here – PlayStation feels like the de facto home for console gacha games these days.

Good luck to anybody trying to catch up since there's been 8 updates worth of content that was added since release.
@AdamNovice Catching up in Genshin Impact took me almost 1,000 hours. It burned me out so bad I've fallen behind again lol
@AdamNovice Genshin came to Xbox four years after original release. So I don't think "catching up to 8 updates" worth of content would be more difficult.
@Godot25 Yikes, couldn't imagine how long that would take to catch up.
@AdamNovice I mean. PS players clearly didn't have a problem to catch up to 6 years of Sea of Thieves content. If you like the game, you will do it.
It shows strength of dev teams to onboard new players even years after release. I remember vividly trying to go back to D2 few years after I left it and onboarding was so atrocious, I left it almost immediately.
I tried getting into this but it wasn't for me, probably the worst Hoyo game so far.
It’s probably worth mentioning the onboarding issue is an issue for anyone who starts playing today, irrespective of platform.
@Godot25 I had that problem with Warframe.
Yes please give me more polychromes out of this. All these back to back, must have characters has me low on polys. And Vivian is almost here. I don't wanna have to use THAT
Thought this article was about Switch 2. Still haven't heard a peep.
I've seen the news coverage were Sony isn't sweating Switch 2, and really at this point why should they, but I think Switch 2 getting all the Hoyo games and others the Switch has been lacking will hurt PS5 sales in Japan.
@get2sammyb bro my soul died a little reading that I've been play final fantasy 14 since its release and haven't put that much time in 😅
Can't wait for all the why Miyabi rerun again ㅡ just like on a certain Jenshin subreddit comments~
Whatever their roadmap entails, Hoyo should be eating good 💰
