Xbox has released a statement clarifying that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution, announced as console exclusives earlier today, are not timed exclusives. They will be available only on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

In a statement on Microsoft’s official website, the company said:

“As part of our focus on the return of Xbox, we also announced that Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution will be Xbox console exclusives. These are not timed exclusives. Games already announced for multiplatform releases will stick to that plan – we're committed to investing in and growing Xbox both on console and beyond.”

I mean, it’s getting increasingly difficult to understand Microsoft’s direction, but this implies to me that it’s going to sprinkle in exclusives here and there, while releasing the rest of its catalogue everywhere.

Gears of War: E-Day was almost certainly in development for the PS5, as ratings and retail listings have been discovered confirming as much.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft did announce new games for the PS5 today: State of Decay 3, Senua, and Spyro: A Realm Beyond are all brand new games, coming to Sony’s console day one.
