Just 100% Astros Playroom for Plat #89, first on the PS5! What a special special game. Full of nostalgia. Was a joy to play through with my kids and teach them PlayStation history at the same time. Hopefully we get more content soon.

Platinum 99 is Space Hulk Tactics, wooo!
Fun little isometric style turn based game.
Not sure if I should go for a specific title for platinum number 100. Mmmm.

@LieutenantFatman

Congrats man, I should get there by about 2023... ish.

I would definitely play something ‘special’ for the 100th. Whether it be something special to you (like the latest instalment of a series which you really like) or something deemed an absolute classic by the critics and/or fans.

Thanks Colonel, I will have to have a think on it. Would love for it to be classic Doom but I'm finding nightmare difficulty absolutely nails. Will give it another try, but I'm sure I can find something else if it remains out of reach.

I find ‘those’ trophies that cause the most stress to be the most satisfying when they finally pop though. Good luck popping that Doom plat!

So I’m going for 18 Platinum’s this year, which will take my total to 50 by the end of 2021 should I achieve it. It’s ‘probably’ a big ask if I’m honest, as I only really get one day a week to game (like a good 10 hour sesh). There will be weeks where I’ll be able to fit in an extra hour or three as and when I can but it’ll depend on... well life and what it throws up I guess. The one day a week will also be supplemented by annual leave from work at various points throughout the year but it’s still gonna be tight. Also, some games have already been started and played to some degree, so that should help too. I’m also going to be using this ‘chase to my 50th Platinum Trophy’ to put a MAJOR dent (if not finish off) my PS3 backlog.

My 2021 Schedule:

Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (PS3)
Sekiro (PS4 - only really a ng+++ run with some specific stuff required)
God of War: Ghost of Sparta (PS3)
Fallout 4 (PS4 - a second play through where I take two different options on Main Story Quests and a bit of mopping up)
God of War 2 (PS3)
Shadow of Mordor (PS4 - finishing the story and some mop up)
Metal Gear Solid (PS3) - no trophies for this game, so just a play through for context when playing 2, 3 & 4.
The Wolf Among Us (PS4 - just a mop up)
Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS3)
Shadow of War (PS4 - started it, probably done around 20%)
God of War: Ascension (PS3)
Mad Max (PS4 - started it to ensure that I had the online requirement completed prior to the servers being switched off... probably around 15%-20% done.
Metal Gear Solid 3 (PS3)
Need for Speed: Payback (PS4 - maybe about 15%-20% done)
Dante’s Inferno (PS3)
Far cry: New Dawn (PS4 - maybe 30% done)
Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)
Uncharted (PS4 - play through on Crushing difficulty and mop up)
Metal Gear Rising (PS3)

This is’nt set in stone though, as I wouldn’t mind playing a game or two on the PS5 and I’m really keen to play Kingdom Come: Deliverance and at least the first Danganronpa. So as the mood takes me, any one of these games could well get swapped out for another along the way. I personally will be interested to see how different to this my list of Platinum’d games will be at the end of 2021... and if I get to 50.

@RogerRoger

Yeah I have heard that Metal Gear Rising in particular is extremely difficult... I also intend on at least attempting to Platinum the Devil May Cry series (probably in 2022 now I’d imagine) and understand that they are also incredibly difficult, I’ll give them the old college try though.

I do find that the difficult ones are the most satisfying though... as a Final Fantasy noob, I found the Platinum for FFVIIr very difficult but it is one that I will always remember as a result. Conversely, I will soon get the Plat on The Wolf Among Us and will feel absolutely nothing about the achievement. Out of interest have you earned any particular Platinum trophies that really stick in the mind due to the struggle?

I’ll be sure to let you know how I get on with my attempts on the three games you highlighted in particular.

@colonelkilgore I think FF7R is a reasonably fair platinum with just the “three dresses” trophy being a particular pain.

I think we’ve had the conversation a while ago but my proudest platinum was also (I think) my first for Call of Duty: World at War as there were a few tricky individual ones but the game was also a monster to beat on Veteran mode.

Storming the Reichstag at the end was horrendous when it wasn’t far off one hit kills on you and enemies keep respawning unless you push on.

@Thrillho

Yeah I wasn’t complaining that I didn’t think it was fair, if anything I was trying to communicate that I appreciated the challenge it posed. It wasn’t the Bridal dresses for me but The Ultimate Weapon Trophy that was the potential Platinum blocker. Not that Pride and Joy was difficult but beating Bahamut and Iffrit in round 4 was tough... I muddled through though.

Not really a FPS fan so never played any of the Call of Duty games but I’ll take your word on it that it was tough. My first Plat was Bloodborne and it held its challenges, particularly beating the Challis Dungeon Amygdala on the way to Yarnham, Pthumerian Queen. Also, I’ve just reinstalled Sekiro and I think that will be one of my hardest earned plats when it pops. Beating Owl Father at the Hirata Estate after dying to him around 50 (maybe more) times will live with me forever. So glad I fought him on NG, so I didn’t have to beat him on any of the + runs.

As @RogerRoger stated though, I’m probably going to be facing even tougher challenges than that this coming year with MGS: PW, MGS 4 and Metal Gear Rising.

Since you talk about your proudest platinums, mine is Trackmania Turbo (0.60% on PSNProfiles). I don't think I'll persist so much in a game ever again. I was on the edge of madness. ^^

@Cornaboyzzz

Think I read earlier on this thread that you were nearing 300... that’s crazy, and impressive. Thankfully I’m not much of a racing fan so I’ll never have to go through the trouble you had with Trackmania.

@RogerRoger

Well, I’ll definitely be coming to you for some advice when I finally make it to Metal Gear Rising, I have a feeling that I’ll be needing it.

I’ve now gotten the trophy in AC Origins for clearing every single location on the map. Now I just have to witness raining bugs in the desert which could take either 5 minutes or 5 hours, and kill 30 enemies with the oil jar things. Could have sworn I’d shot at loads of jars but it might not have counted for whatever reason. Anyway, should hopefully have platinum #10 by tomorrow!

The first two plats of 2021 (33 & 34) today, so not a bad start on my goal of 18 for the year. Couple of easy ones (Bugsnax and The Wolf Among Us), MGS: Peace Walker, Sekiro and Dying Light are next on the list.

Platinum #10 is mine, that’s Assassin’s Creed Origins’ base game done! Onto the DLC now, dunno if I’ll try to 100% the trophies in them.

I got the Platinums in Batman: Arkham Knight, Undertale, Habroxia, Concrete Genie, The Sinking City, The Council, Tacoma, and then my girlfriend goaded me into playing Skyrim so my Christmas run came to a screeching halt.

Just finished up Days Gone for plat number 91 after getting Dirt 5 (ps4) and Astros Playroom last week. About half way done with Dirt 5 (ps5) but have had 4 trophies glitch on me already so waiting for a patch to complete. Days gone was really a gem, very underrated imo. Probably about 10 hours to long, but still a great game. Hope it gets a sequel!

@RogerRoger I did all of the story DLCs but didn't get all of the trophies for them. And I didn't touch those batmobile races because after playing Arkham Knight for forty hours the last thing I wanted was more batmobile.

johncalmc

@RogerRoger I forgot, I actually did do one of the races. I think it was the 60s batmobile one. I did it because I wanted the AR star for that trophy and I was bored of the tank missions. I aced that one so maybe the batmobile races are not so bad.

So for any Hitman fans out there, Hitman 3 will have a Platinum trophy (something the previous two games did not have),

@RogerRoger agreed, it 'shouldn't' matter but it did prevent me from going for every trophy on the first Hitman (first if this recent trilogy anyway). Havent even started the second one but do intend to at some point. The first one was great.
