Platinum #77 - Horizon Forbidden West - just a class open world dinobot-hunt ‘em up! Typical Sony 1st Party blockbuster (in so much that the production values are astronomical), that possibly has my favourite final mission of any of the AAA exclusives that I’ve played. Great game!
@colonelkilgore Awesome work 👍. It's good to hear about that final mission, I'm really looking forward to that one but at the same time it will be a shame to draw a close to what has so far been an excellent story.
@render cheers mate… and yeah I totally get that. I can’t help but think I rushed through it a little due to the sheer number of games I want to play right now. I still really enjoyed it though… and if I get a jonesing for dinobot-hunting once I’ve whittled down the backlog a bit, I can always play through it again on PS4.
@Th3solution just checked and was surprised by how many hours that I actually put in. My profile states 75 hours… sure didn’t feel that many, which I guess is a legitimate positive. Felt no more than 50 for sure.
Gonna play a little palette cleanser next (still deciding on what atm as it goes) and then I’ll start Elden Ring on my day off next week (Wednesday) and can’t wait.
How bout you sol… you tempted by any of the stellar releases of late or are you chipping away at the backlog?
@colonelkilgore Yes, brother, I am sitting on my hands with a padlock on the wallet trying not to indulge in the 3 HUGE games (ER, HFW, GT7)… each one of which would likely take me 2 months or more to complete. In a way, the fact all three have dropped back-to-back-to-back has actually made it easier to not buy any of them. If they had been spread out by a month or two then I’d likely have lied to myself that I could get them completed and would have bought them one by one. As it stands now, I’m better off waiting until I finish what I’m working on. But I’m so tempted. Both ER and HFW are getting reviews and impressions way over what we all expected. And even GT7 is being highly touted. I think we all knew these three games were going to be great, but I don’t think we anticipated the masterpiece level they are turning out to be. I see a lot of people who are not easily impressed who are just gushing about each one of them.
Alas, I’m satisfied to play Mass Effect, and grind the Dirt 5 platinum hopefully this weekend. I actually have a busy weekend, but I think I’ll be able to use the scotch tape and or rubber band on the DualSense method to let my PS5 drive another 400 miles in Dirt 5 while I multitask getting some work done. 😂

@Th3solution ahh el’ rubber band strikes again! He’s had a prolific start to 2022 to be sure 🤣. I plan on fitting Dirt 5 in at some point myself, so that’ll be another plat for the rubber-one too.
Well, all three huge releases will be waiting for you (and will probably run a helluva lot better by the time you pull-up too 😉). Enjoy your weekend buddy 👍
@colonelkilgore I’ll post my inevitable success here when the dirty deed is done. There’s only one or two trophies that were much of a test of skill (of course I played most of the game on ‘easy’). Very straightforward platinum. I’ll probably drop a review of the actual game as well, since I have some extended thoughts about it. Cheers! 🍻

@Milktastrophe thems is big numbers, not good for my inferiority complex! (Well done though!!)
@colonelkilgore ...and the colonel strikes again. Chuck it on the pile mate.
@Th3solution my best friend has been gaming as long as me, has had PS3, 4 & 5 and has no platinum trophies - this year I know of elastic bands who have achieved more than him... He disappoints me.

@RogerRoger@colonelkilgore@render@Sorteddan thanks for the kind words, folks. I play a lot of indie games, so they only take really a couple hours to a couple days to plat. Sometimes they can really stand out as quite good, but a lot of times it's barely a game and really just trophy spam. I try to avoid those, but sometimes they're too cheap on sale and I can't resist. Playing Chicken Police now, it's actually pretty good, I like detective noir stuff.
You guys probably play a lot more of the AAA releases than I do. I don't usually get around to those until years later, so I'm jealous of that.
For some reason, I decided going for the Binding of Isaac: Rebirth platinum was a good idea. 200 odd hours later, there’s still a lot to do. Worst of all, I’m doing it on Vita, therefore the character who dies in one hit doesn’t even have the buffs it was given in later DLC. Fun times!
40th platinum bagged - Horizon Forbidden West. It had everything I was looking for in a sequel and it’s almost a shame to be leaving that world but there’s always a chance of some DLC, and if it’s as good as the frozen wilds then I’ll be back.
@nessisonett I have The Binding of Isaac: Repentance on my wishlist, it never seems to go on sale though sadly. I assume this version will have the buffs you’ve mentioned that aren’t in the version that you’re playing? Either way, good luck with that one.
@colonelkilgore It’s a tough choice. I picked up Cyberpunk having played the trial so that’s an option but also getting sucked into this Elden Ring hype (checks not in the Horizon thread 😅). Everyone is posting such positive comments about it and performance issues aside I don’t think there’s been any problems with it? That’s your next stop isn’t it?
