@Sorteddan Nice one! Once you're in the groove of it, it's such a great game and those high heat runs can just come together so nicely. Did you end up with a favourite build in the end?
@colonelkilgore Hades is a bit different from some of the others as it has a bit more of a story to it which unravels with the repeated runs and it actually makes sense as to why you have to keep beating the game.
I enjoyed Dead Cells but felt that you could hit brick walls too much and too much depended on what gear you randomly get to start your run. Beating the game once in that was enough for me but Hades was a real "one more go!" type of game. Returnal is a different beast really but with a few common elements to those games.
@colonelkilgore I'll quickly jump on the Hades bandwagon here...
I honestly nearly slept on this game, being slightly put off by how much hype was surrounding it - thinking that something which sounds 'too good to be true' usually is!
How wrong was I... Hades is a masterpiece in every way, and such an accessible entry to the rogue genre (my first).
I think it could actually be a nice game to double-dip alongside Returnal (my GOTY 2021) if you don't mind having 2 things on the go.
What is your forthcoming schedule looking like? And did I see you played HFW?
@Thrillho@CJD87 cheers guys… well if I wasn’t already excited to finally get to Hades I am now eh 😉.
Also, @CJD87 yeah I played through Horizon Forbidden West in February and I really enjoyed it… seems like a lifetime ago though since starting Elden Ring. Not wanting to derail the trophy thread any further than I already have… I’ll start a thread about schedules and tag you to answer your question 👍
@colonelkilgore I meant to reply to you yesterday regarding this but got sidetracked and totally forgot. Seems like everyone else has already given you some good advice on these anyway but I'm sure you'll love both Hades and Returnal.
Having started to dip back into Returnal again to play the DLC I'm reminded of how good the gameplay is. I also think they did a good job with the story and the way that it worked with the roguelike mechanic even if it doesn't do as good a job as Hades does in that respect. Saying that Returnal grabbed me more than Hades as a whole package.
My wife has just picked Hades up again after a good break and she's enjoying it so much that I'm having to compromise on sharing the PS5. Well basically the compromise is usually that I get to play Elden Ring when she's finished a Hades run as she's normally finished work before me 😂.
@render cheers for the reply buddy… and if I was you (hell I’m considering it myself and @missuskilgore doesn’t seem half the gamer @missusrender sounds to be) I’d buy an extra PS5 fosho!
@colonelkilgore Oh @missusrender is a pest. I start playing a game and she's all "that doesn't look like my sort of game" or "that looks rubbish", then she gives it a go and I'm having to wrestle the damn controller out of her hands. I thought by buying a Switch I could distract her enough that she wouldn't want to play on the PS5 but it didn't work. I've definitely thought about buying a second one and it might well happen yet 😆
So I've been away for a really long time about year since I last posted but I've managed to grab a few Platinums in that time
Days Gone (loved this game so much more than I expected)
God of War, 3rd playthrough but managed to stick around for the plat
Ghost of tsushima. Beautiful game, felt like the type of game that deserved me taking some extra time to Platinum
Also 1 trophy away for Assassins Creed Oddesy, I will go back to get it but after completing the game and the dlc that one trophy will have to wait because it really burnt me out by the end of the dlc even though I really enjoyed the game altogether one of the best Assassins Creed games I've played.
Hopefully soon can add bloodborne to this list as currently working though it.
@colonelkilgore thanks, I'm not the biggest trophy hunter but seem to be getting the bug a bit more.
I don't think I'd ever get a game to get the plat but it has made me appreciate the games I have Plated a little more. Taken thar extra few hours sometimes has made me see and do things in the games I would have definitely missed.
@MaulTsir Welcome back and well done on those shiny platinums. I haven't played Bloodborne but will get around to it one day as everyone raves about it. Good luck 😀
@render thank you. I'm not a big from software guy and bloodborne is the only one I've played so far but I can't recommend it enough and to be fair it still holds up really well.
That’s a wrap on the platinum for Elden Ring. Tidying up the bits I’d got left didn’t take me too long at all but all in I’ve spent 120 hours somewhere. Most of that will have been wondering aimlessly but still a considerable amount will have been from dying over and over, oh and swearing at a man on a horse!
Trying to weigh it up I’d actually say that Malenia is probably the better boss design even if I didn’t enjoy the fight too much.
I don’t know what I was expecting for the last boss but it felt like a bit of a cop out, especially phase 2 both for the actual design and those crazy magic attacks. It seemed like it was a more rubbish version of one of the dragons in the game. Maybe they’d just run out of ideas for how to implement their vision for the end of the story and that’s how it ended up 🤷♂️
@RogerRoger@Sorteddan thanks! Yeah I had a lot of time due to illness but i managed to get through a lot of games so always a bright side 😁 back to work now though so normal game time has resumed and progress will definitely slow!
@colonelkilgore Cheers 👍. I'm actually surprised I finished it so soon but think I got lucky with some of my choices with regards to platinum progression. It does feel like a well earned achievement after all that Malenia business 😂
