and today I (finally) snagged platinumber 222 with Sea of Stars (PS5). Quite a journey though enjoyable for the most part. Main game @30hours. Post game, collectables and miscellaneous trophies @12hours and then NG+ to beat some bosses for final trophy @5hours so somewhere around the 50hour Mark in total. Not really difficult at any point. Glad I played it but glad it's done with as well.

Decided to buy an indie game I'd never heard of on a whim. Pretty sure it was made by one guy. It's definitely rough around the edges, but it mixes elements of the Shenmue and Like a Dragon games, so it made it easy for me to overlook it's flaws.
AKA the one where they start adding just too much padding to the platinum. Look, I don’t mind the Borgia flags/feathers, just your standard collectible (which have icons this time round). I don’t even mind the 100% sync for the main missions, that’s a normal trophy. It’s the 100% sync for the other million small and irritating missions that grate. Not to mention you have to trek to specific points to get your next batch of missions, and the fast travel is rudimentary. There were a lot of just basic assassinations which were tolerable but the races were evil, especially with guards chucking rocks at you while you climb. All of that pales in comparison to the miscellaneous trophies. Harlequins you have to beat up that are in specific places on the map with zero hints (basically required cheating using a map) and the barracks arena were the worst.
Good game, a trophy list that overstays its welcome.
My recent one...Immortals of Aveum.
Pretty good game, a solid 7/10.
Fairly easy plat 4/10, there is a difficulty trophy which you can do on NG or NG+, I took the NG option which meant some fights did go on a bit.
Just under 25 hours to complete but a guide is needed for the collectibles and there are missable trophies but nothing too bad plus there is a very helpful forum topic on psnprofiles which covers the missables in a simple and concise manner.
I haven't been active for a while but I just reached a nice milestone so I wanted to share it with you !
#400 Star Wars Jedi : Survivor - First one was already a great game, but this one is better in every way and it's simply one of my favorite games I've played on PS5. And if you're a Star Wars fan, it's even better. Trophy list is like the first one, interesting and easy. Simply a great time !
Resident evil 3
3/10 difficulty, 17 hrs (according to ps5) to platinum.
Not too difficult and a bit of a short game and that even included a bit of backtrack padding.
I did think the final boss on Inferno might require me to buy the 'All unlocks' dlc but thankfully I beat it after a couple of attempts, the hardest bit is the start on Inferno before you get to first storage box I died in this section which added to the time (as there is an auto save and I didn't restart) but still managed 1hr 18mins.
@CaptD
Agreed, that first zombie that lunges at you before you get to the doorway was the hardest part! I had to look up a video to see how to avoid it, turns out I just needed to stay more to the left. With the infinite rockets the rest of the game was much easier than that bit!
And Congrats on your new shiny.
“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
@CaptD Congrats, I had a couple of notifications come up recently saying you had beaten my times for Hardcore and then Inferno so knew you were playing. I agree with @sorteddan and yourself that early part before the first storage box is the hardest, get touched and it's instant game over. I think I remember taking a few attempts to get past that point. I think I recall getting notifications of you @sorteddan beating my times as well but I'm not concerned about trying to top either of your times I was just happy to do it.
I was annoyed that extra "4th survivor" mode prevented me from getting the plat in my favourite of the series RE2R. I sucked at that mode.
@BearsEatBeets
Oh I had similar a couple months back when RE Village required me to S Rank all stages in Mercenaries mode for the plat. I could probably have done it given enough attempts and learning where the enemies spawn etc. But I just couldn't bring myself to do it, and didn't particularly enjoy the first couple of stages so I binned it off and left it at 98% (though I think it's still installed in case I ever change my mind)
“We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.”
@sorteddan I've found most of the series to be like that. I don't think I've beaten the hardest difficulty because of that final 'Chris' section so I think I've not bothered with a few trophies on that one. I've not gone for the S+ rank ones on RE4R partially because of that silly shooting range trophy which I loathe. It's not the kind of thing I play the series for. RE3R is the only plat I have for the series (although on PS4 & PS5).
I've think I've got a lot better recently at just letting go of going for Plats if it requires doing something I don't find enjoyable.
@sorteddan
Cheers. I didn't have a problem with the zombie just before the bar, when you are with the NPC. I think a few people had problems here though.
The zombie that got me was the one by the metal gate, he didn't kill me but drained my health such that the lift zombie finished me off.
As for Village I bought that for VR which when played in disabled the trophies, which is nice. I'm not a fan of Mercs mode so I can't see me getting that plat even when/if I decide to play it in flat mode.
@BearsEatBeets
Cheers and apologies for the notifications, I wasn't aware that was happening and I'm sure it was tiresome after the fifth notification.
As for re2r, I bought that way back in 2020 I think and earned one trophy then moved back to what I was playing at the time. I haven't returned since but I did buy the unlocks dlc (which was on offer) as the platinum seemed out of my reach without it. I quite dislike the unlocks dlc model in any game and usually resist, in fact I think this is the only time I bought such dlc...that is my story and I'm sticking to it.
Although I doubt the unlocks dlc helps with 4th survivor.
@CaptD It's fine, it's probably due to my own notification settings. There were only a couple so maybe you didn't beat my times on the easier difficulties 😉.
I brought the extra dlc unlocks for RE2R when it went super cheap later on. After a few normal playthroughs there is something quite pleasing about blitzing through it with an infinite rocket launcher, who's scared now Mr. X?
You're right they don't help with 4th survivor. You have to complete it with a set inventory of weapons/ammo. With my limited attempts I realised I barely got half way and get it progressively harder as it goes. I think you need to be really good at staggering enemies with a single bullet or two and rushing past without getting grabbed. Two things I don't excel at.
Haven't posted my plats for a while but this evening I got a surprise one. I've been playing Snowrunner on and off for over a year and a half (definitively a game to play in bursts). I only had the trophy for doing all of the contracts in the game left to do so I've been doing a few at a time to knock them out. Just finished a contract and the trophy popped despite there being half-a-dozen contracts still in the list to do. I can only assume some were added in an update sometime after the release and aren't needed for the trophy.
Yeah so Platinum 131 I wasn't expecting to get today.
@BearsEatBeets
Nice, great platinum to have. I really should play one of the 'runner' games.
My latest platinum is Remnant 2. Difficulty 3/10, easier than the first one as there seemed to be less emphasis on Ads which is nice although a few too many puzzles imo. Time 50 hours.
Tip get the sage ring asap, keep equipped and max out the archetypes asap then more on when one is maxed,
Not actually done with the game yet, since I still have some DLC left to tackle, but I did pop the platinum trophy for Marvel's Spider-Man on PS4 this morning. Once I get all the trophies for the expansions, I'll have to decide if I want to do an Ultimate difficulty NG+ run for those last few trophies, or if I want to move on to something else on my PS4.
The game looks great and runs marvelously on what is, frankly, a pretty weak console these days. Sony's best teams really do a good job of getting their hardware to sing.
I’m currently working on the platinum for Ys 8 on Vita. I’m hoping to do it all in one playthrough, so I’m playing on Nightmare difficulty. It hasn’t been hard. I do feel like I missed an opportunity on a certain trophy early on that I can’t get back, but we will see how the story unfolds and if that’s truly the case.
I’ve mostly fallen off the trophy hunting endeavor lately. I still try to maximize accomplishing any reasonable trophies during a playthrough, but I’m less inclined to go too far out of my way to get trophies. I still get satisfaction from hearing the chime of a trophy registering, but I have just been running short on time so I haven’t spent extra effort like I used to.
That said, I was curious to look at my trophy list and see what have been my rarest trophies lately. I was prompted to do this when I was looking at my PS Stars level (which is 3) and one of the criteria is a certain number of “rare and above” trophies. I don’t typically pay attention to the rarity of trophies, but rather just their color; I reflexively think of: platinum > gold > silver > bronze, which is true in any given game usually, as far as how difficult it is to achieve said trophy. But in looking at the trophy rarity, you get a completely different sense of a trophy’s worth. Fortunately the trophy list function easily shows you the rarest trophy for each game that you’ve played.
So a quick survey of games I’ve played over the last few years showed me some interesting stats. Here are my rarest trophies in recent times:
Immortals of Aveum Out of Time (bronze) for “Spoke to Orphe about every topic” — 1.1%
Tchia Thing (gold) for “Find and soul jump into Pwi Dua’s hand” — 2.8%
A Plague Tale: Requiem Explorer (silver) for “Open all the secret chests” — 3.2%
Guardians of the Galaxy, Platium — 3.2%
Rime, Platinum — 3.9%
Returnal Echoes of the Past (gold) for “Finish echoing ruins survey” — 4.1%
Stray Pacifist (gold) for “Complete the sewers without killing any zurks” — 4.5%
Astro’s Playroom, Platinum — 4.5%
God of War, Platinum — 4.6%
GT7 Circuit Master (silver) for “Complete 15 tracks in circuit experience” — 5.2%
Control, Platinum — 5.3%
And my rarest trophy that I’ve achieved on PS5 is…. (drumroll…) —
Disco Elysium The Most Honourable Cop in the Land (silver) for “Gather 11 honour points” — 0.3% !!!
I didn’t see that coming! 😅
Obviously there’s a pattern here that very clearly the rarest trophies are to be found in games that are available through PS Plus because presumably everytime someone boots up the game then that goes into the denominator, whether they really play the game or just try it for a few minutes then abandon it. Most of my platinums and difficult golds aren’t actually that rare. Most are in the 20-30% range.
So in conclusion, the subscription services have broken trophy rarity as any meaningful metric. Which is no surprise, but it was a fun exercise to look at it specifically on my own list.
I haven't been updating you all on my exciting trophy activities lately, but you'll be glad to know I finally completed my mission and got the platinum in every Yakuza game. Yakuza 5 is a joke of a platinum. Absolute ordeal. But once that was done it was all plane sailing. Did Yakuza 7 again on PS4 for a second platinum just for good measure.
