@dskatter yeah like my £3.99 game on consoles has been more successful.. heck, one of those awful stroke an animal shovelware games have probably had more "success" haha
If anyone has played my game Trails and Traces on PSN (or xbox, switch), this game was a huge inspiration. (I was never going to come close to it's brilliance, of course.)
@Ward_ting I wish Curse of monkey island would get the same treatment as Broken Sword! Shame Revolution can't buy that ip and source code etc and give it the same treatment!
If you want to experience the original work of art as intended, don't play this version, it's messing with the original art by making it look nicer. Like really? The voice actor is different too, more "censorship" oh no!
If i was to remake Only Fools and Horses, the old TV show, I would remove all the racist words used in the earlier seasons. Times move on, so should we.
This review is pretty much exactly what I expect I'll feel about it, so that's good.
@playstation1995 if i finish a game on the subscription and there's a physical version and I think I'd like to replay that game again, there's a high chance I'll buy the physical game at some point. Even that new game the Plucky Squire, if I absolutely love it then I'll buy the game.
8/10, I've also never gotten that high a score. I didn't play that Tales game for very long so couldn't remember his name. I also got the Space Marine one wrong.
@zhoont Yeah true, another good example would be the Yakuza/Lost Judgment games. Going back to the first Yakuza on PS2 and hearing it with English actors speaking is just so bizarre, even if I did originally play it back then, I've gotten used to the Japanese and it's just more authentic that way.
The Plucky Squire - Awesome!! Under the Waves - Damn i bought this a couple of months ago and it was boring. Night in the Woods - played on gamepass. It's okay. Chernobylite - Damn again, about 2 months ago I bought this, and I really wanted to like it but I really didn't. Wild Card Football - the heck is this Space Engineers - intriguing. Road 96 - i may have played this on gamepass? Was decent. Ben 10 - One for the kids, I guess. Far Cry 5 - Meh. Pistol Whip - Good game, already own it. Secret Agent Clank - I don't seem to enjoy these old psp platformers even as someone who likes ratchet games. Sky Gunner - Forgot this existed. Doesn't really interest me. Never did. Mister Mosquito - Blimey, I loved this on PS2! I can't imagine it's aged well. Needs a remastering.
@elvisfan1 I believe it's a case of getting used to a certain frame rate. Why else was I completely fine with 30fps for years and years but now 30fps hurts my eyes, but if that's all the game offers I can eventually get used to it again.
@get2sammyb While I have the special edition of monkey island modded with speech in classic mode on PC and Day of the Tentacle on PS4 (Physically, hoorah!), I love Pinball Dreams and some of it's sequels, so that's cool! I remember how awesome it was to be able to play them on the Vita and not on an Amiga emulator!
I'm on a limited budget so i don't want to plonk £55 on a game, and I could buy it physically, play it, and sell it and get a good portion back for it, but I think this will be a game I'd want to keep for the collection, so it would make sense to wait for the game to drop to around £30. It's gonna be a long wait 😭
@LordFunkalot When I first played it as a brand new game, I would have agreed with you on your score. Playing it now, I would give it a 4/10. The layouts of the levels are confusing, there's zero story, the gameplay is so behind Half Life 1 that came out what, 2 years before? But I don't think I played HL until it came out on PS2. I wanted to enjoy it like I did back in the day but it's aged terribly imo.
I guess I'm in the minority here, I give it a 5. Even when I found myself getting addicted to it, I let myself die and turned it off so I could play something more meaningful than move a badly drawn sprite around without pressing any buttons other than x to make a selection when levelling up and don't get hit by other badly drawn sprites around a badly drawn field. But you guys do you lol.
@Anthony_Daniels some games I'm not sure about, and never buy, but appear on the subscription, so I find i like it enough I'll either play a game i wasn't going to buy anyway or buy the game if i think it's something I'll play again one day, or a physical copy if one exists.
I'm thrilled it's got a physical release on PS4 (would prefer ps5 for increasing my ps5 collection but oh well), as in the UK at least none of the previous games have seen a release on disc to my knowledge.
It's interesting how the pixel characters option doesn't fit the backgrounds at all but they were fine on DS, just shows what a low resolution can do!
@riceNpea Always nice to see the Amiga mentioned, I held on to mine long enough to see it get CD and HDD drives until it died in the early noughties. I mean go kaput.
I used to run a video game shop and I often got to play game early, I remember once we got a PS3 Dynasty Warriors game in 2 weeks before it's release date! They usually only let us have them 1 or 2 days early. Like they didn't trust us or something. Lol.
3/10, but it's been ages since I played both previous Astrobot games and I haven't even watched the new game trailer but I don't need to, I'm guaranteed to enjoy that game!
@RadioHedgeFund i think most people will disagree with you, I think Timesplitters 2 is loads better than 1. Have you played them recently or going by memory from back in the day? Because I was shocked how primitive TS1 is now when playing it on PS5.
Quidditch - Meh, maybe I'll download and have a go. Maybe.
MLB - Not interested in the slightest.
Little nightmares 2 - i enjoyed the first game, but then sometime after got fed up with a lot of 2.5 games, and played the demo of LN2 and couldn't be bothered. I suppose I'll give it a chance, so this one is the best of a lame selection for me.
@dardel is it a game you'd want to keep? Because otherwise you could buy it for 32, play it, finish it, and then sell it for like 20 maybe on a marketplace? Then potentially it's cost you 12 to play it. Or is there a marketplace online you can buy it for cheaper than 32?
@PaperAlien I on the other hand couldn't get into it. I found the main character's voice unpleasant, although you could put it in Russian which is more authentic. I am actually struggling to remember why else I didn't like it, I think I just didn't enjoy the general combat and stealth.
I once played a demo of alien isolation and I was no good at hiding, and i prefer stealth in non horror games where i can stealth kill. I get why it is this way in Alien Isolation, but as it's leaving soon maybe I should give it a proper chance.
Lol at that person wanting a system where we insert PS2 Timesplitter discs into our PS5 to be able to play the new digital versions, absolutely clueless. Also, I don't recall these games ever being available digitally on a playstation system?
I've never played a sword art online game but i guess I'll try them now..
Thrilled about Timesplitters, I miss those games. Cult of lamb i heard was getting a 2 player couch mode so that's great timing. Witcher 3 i hope i still have my old save file.
@DrVenture69 i decided at one point to just add all new interesting titles to my wishlist so i never had to shift through shovelware in the sales, until I hit that 50 games limit I didn't know about.
Now I remove all games in the filter that are less than £1 which helps somewhat.
I like some metroidvanias, and haven't even heard of this one, but the other two, I am so very tired of Lego games and not interested in FNAF whatsoever. Although, of course, adults can enjoy these two latter titles, I feel it's rather poor to include two games out of three that were made with children in mind.
@ear_wig it's true i did eventually get my Day of the Tentacle - albeit about 5-6 months later than estimated! It really stressed me out, so I'd sooner pay more to be honest from a dealer or if Amazon manage to get any, that's how I got Return to Monkey island on PS5.
Having fond memories of the original game, and being low on funds some time after and selling the game for triple digits, I would really like a limited run copy but as someone with high anxiety and knowing how far behind those guys get.. I'm hoping to pick one up from ebay or Amazon next year or something.
@Mortal Yeah, the survey asks if I'm happy with the games, not if I think they're good games, so I agree.
If I hadn't already played crisis core and remnant 2 I'd be estatic, but I already have and they're the two biggest titles here. But im happy about the other games so it's a fairly content month for me.
@rusty82 I always look sometime after 1pm because it rarely shows up for me in the morning. Before that I just check my wishlist to see if anything is on sale.

If it ever goes on plus sub in a few years from now I'll try and persist with it, until then, got plenty of other games to play!
(If you're thinking maybe I'm just a terrible gamer, I did finish Ghost of Tshushima on hard difficulty, for what it's worth)

Re: Mini Review: Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged (PS5) - Wonderful Remaster of One of the Best Adventure Games of All Time
@sanderev Given that I don't think Revolution have done DLC for any game in their entire existence, I wouldn't hold your breath.
Re: Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Might Be the Series' Most Insane Game Yet, Sailing to PS5, PS4 in February
@johncalmc Aye! I do not need to see the trailer, the title of the game has sold me already.
That it's not turn based is even better! I don't mind turn based combat but in a Like a Dragon game I want the hands on approach!
Re: Mini Review: Broken Sword: Shadow of the Templars Reforged (PS5) - Wonderful Remaster of One of the Best Adventure Games of All Time
@johncalmc Awesome! And thanks for playing! I did another game after that, a comedy detective game, but it's only on PC - Detective Boiled-Hard.

Re: Don't Sleep on PS2 Secret Gem Sky Gunner, Coming to PS5, PS4 Next Week
Oooh thanks for mentioning this Sammy! I saw the name and thought it was a different game, which I just looked up - Sky Odyssey.
This sounds a LOT more interesting. Just when I think I've heard of most PS2 games!
