I’ll definitely play the Res Evil games, Gran Turismo 7 (continuing) and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. It’s not enough to convince me of trading in my PS5 yet though. Especially since I have a ridiculous Game Pass backlog.
@TommyNL For PS Plus as a whole the quality has drastically devalued since launch. We were lured in with games such as Demon’s Souls and Returnal, now it’s mainly old, bad, cheap or indie games.
@Silenos Please mind that a lot of them paid good money for this service and see the quality of content going down the drain. They have every right to be frustrated with that and giving off repeating signals that it’s not okay.
Ghostwire is a really fun game, but is/was already part of Extra. And yes, I know they’re different tiers, but as a subscriber to two or three tiers you feel stolen when games appear on several of them.
Terrible selection, but since this is the case every month it’s just a terrible service for me. I’m I glad I let it run out. I see a lot of people talking about TPS, but I’d never even touch this.
With my current backlog of physical PS5 games and a lot of Game Pass I’ll probably won’t buy any more games within the first year of release. As a big Final Fantasy fan I most probably won’t even play Rebirth before 2025.
I haven't renewed my PS Plus after all those terrible months. Cult of the Lamb would be the first game I'd play in a long time. It still isn't that much of a deal though since retail price is € 12,49.
@Shepherd_Tallon I’m not that far yet, so it’s a bit early to tell. If you like heartwarming characters with funny dialogues and turn based combat you can’t go wrong.
Sounds like this entry could be an interesting one, if they turn these words into practice. Especially the part about accessibility. With these kind of sports games I just want to play some matches, without having to learn all kinds of button combinations.
@get2sammyb Or just “Massive games included in new sale”. I agree the titles on PushSquare are a bit too much sometimes. I really appreciate the articles though, so no biggy.
The question in the title is not the problem with PS Plus, in my opinion. The problem for me was that PS Plus Extra was launched as a great deal, with AAA games such as Returnal and Demon's Souls remake. After everyone had subscribed they didn't continue delivering the same quality though, to the point where not a single month was interesting for me anymore. This feels like misleading the customers, strengthened by the hefty price increase.
Having finished only the base game I would really like to pick up 14 again, but it just feels too overwhelming. I have a backlog on both my PS5 and Series X and this game must take at least a year to finish with all the extensions?
Personally I don’t feel the need for all these crossovers (in both directions). There’s a reason why something is a game or movie/series. I’d rather see producers focus on new projects that are truly developed for said medium.
We’re/I’m good at complaining, but GT7 really is an excellent example of live service games gone right. It’s simply fantastic how they keep on improving the overall experience. Compared to the content available at launch the current state of the game is really stunning, at least for single player gamers like me.
@Silenos Yeah, but what’s easy anyway? Doesn’t pumping 150 hours of “walking” into Death Stranding come down to the same as developing 150 hours into your souls character which makes you beat bosses rather easily?
I don’t really look at it in terms of difficulty but length. At least with the “difficult” games I beat - Elden Ring, Returnal and Demon’s Souls Remake - it was simply a matter of repeating and repeating until you were ready to progress (although the repeating part was in fact about making progress as well).
I really learned it’s just a different way of looking at games. Your goal for a particular day might not be beating an end boss but upgrading your character or learning stuff. In the end the bosses are most of the times very beatable.
I don’t really mind. Sometimes it’s fun to go for a platinum, but beating the end boss is the main focus for me. Never realized people actually care about this so much. I couldn’t imagine not playing a game because it doesn’t have trophies.
That makes it official I guess: I’m currently playing my last PS Plus game (Days Gone) until my sub runs out July 4th. Didn’t expect anything interesting anyway in this drop, I think I added one game to my library in 2024.
Just to be absolutely sure: if you buy a game discounted via your PS Plus subscription, you can still play the game after your subscription expired, right?
@LiamCroft Thanks. I meant that I want to replay the base game (all the way up to the end bosses) anyway. What would be the better experience for the base game: new game or +?
I mean in terms of unlockable cool stuff through new game + or on the other hand a hampered experience because of being too overleveled.
I don’t want to read anything about it so I’ll be as surprised as possible, but my hype level is enormous by now.
What do you guys recommend after having completed the base game and wanting to play it again before playing the DLC: start a whole new game or a new game plus?
@ErrantRob Thanks, just platinumed it today The one for biome 2 was hidden in an artifact room and my 2 glyphs and 1 recording for biome 6 I all got in just 2 runs.
@ErrantRob Do you have any hints for biome 2? I still need 3 more ciphers and in the last couple of runs not a single one spawned. Does it help to kill the boss of biome 2 first before exploring all rooms?
Rounding off Returnal. Already finished the game, going for platinum now. Completing the last surveys is quite some work, but even after finishing all biomes dozens of times it’s still lots of fun.
@Blofse Not true in my case. I’m just stuck to my sub until July, so I count as someone with the highest tier while I already decided 9 months ago I’m not going to renew.
@Kidfunkadelic83 It’s mainly about being patient. Developing your character while exploring the regions that are doable at that point. I was afraid to start as well and now it’s probably going to be my all time favorite game.
It’s also a great starting point for playing tough games in general. Since then I beat both Demon’s Souls and Returnal because I know now which approach works.

Resident Evil 2. Still such a great game.
Re: Amazon Prime Big Deal Days 2024 - Best Deals on PS5 and PS4 Games, Controllers, SSDs, 4K TVs, and More
Dutch Amazon sucks. I have my eye on the MGS collection, but pretty much none of these offers are active on Amazon.nl.

Sea of Stars on GP, lovely game!
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 545
@TimeDelayedGamer Enjoy! And definitely play Nier:Automata after this, if you haven’t already. One of the best games ever made.
Re: Astro Bot (PS5) - One of the Greatest PlayStation Platformers of All Time
Hmm, didn’t expect the “for all ages” bit. As a 40-year old I saw it more as a cool tech demo than gameplay I could enjoy for more than a few days.
Perhaps I should give it a chance anyway.

Re: Movie Review: Borderlands - As Bland As the Brand It's Based On
“The most puzzling thing about this picture is how it managed to assemble such an all-star cast.”
Well. It’s not exactly a modern day all-star cast. Just some actors past their prime buffing their pensions.

Sea of Stars on Game Pass. Such a heartwarming, engaging game. Normally I can’t get into pixel art games, but this one is a gem.

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for July 2024 Announced
@Silenos One AAA game that’s about a year old would be a good start already. Especially since that’s what we got from PS Plus until a year ago or so.
Re: PS Plus Essential Games for July 2024 Announced
@Gigawatt-Kapow Nope, just a reflection of the average reaction and overall lack of popularity for NHL games.

@Gigawatt-Kapow In what universe are two old games and a game about a sport no-one cares about stellar?

My least favorite FF game. I’m a big fan of the series but this just didn’t speak to me at all, both from a setting and gameplay point of view.

Re: Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree (PS5) - Familiar FromSoftware Brilliance
How is a feeling of familiarity a downside? It’s an expansion, which almost literally means more of the same.
Can’t wait to play it, including a rerun of the base game.

Re: Poll: What Was Your Favourite Game from State of Play?
Don’t really understand all the hype around AB. Looks more like a children’s game I probably would’t even play if it was part of PS Plus.
Still really looking forward to Silent Hill 2.
Re: PS Plus' Higher-Priced Extra, Premium Tiers Command 35% of Overall Subs

Re: PS Plus Essential Games for June 2024 Announced
How is it possible that just every single fortnight is terrible on PS Plus (all tiers) after the enormous price hike? Do they want us to quit?
