Re: Talking Point: Is PlayStation Plus Helping or Hindering the PS Vita?

Farmboy74

I think PS+ & PS4 are both helping the Vita. I brought my Vita after buying a PS4. My PS+ subscription covers both machines which is very good value for money.
I think the Vita has plenty of games to invest in, plus if you had PSP digital games they work on the Vita as well as PS one.
The main issue for the Vita from day one has been the price of the machine and the memory cards. If your serious about buying a Vita now is the time at least here in the UK, as the prices for Vita bundles are bargin basement!!. I brought the Tearaway bundle which includes LBP and a 16GB memory card for £150. The prices of the memory cards is also now coming down a 32GB card is now around £40 which while still not cheap better than the original £60.
If Sony can now start getting their teams to develop more games for it, it will survive. I don't think it will sell 3DS numbers but for the price your paying at the minute your getting a great machine.

Re: Talking Point: PS4 Proves That Consoles Are Alive and Kicking

There is a market for both dedicated consoles and smartphone games I think. The problem I have with smartphone games is a lot of them nowadays are freemium and constantly trying to get you to part with your cash. Then there is the controls issues with just an touch screen interface, don't get me wrong when they done right there're good. Galaxy on Fire 2 and Sid Maiers Ace Patrol are good examples.
With a console you got a controller and you pay for the game right out the box (apart from DLC) but that's if you want it. Also the games you get on a dedicated games machine tend to be of a better quality to what you get on the app stores.

Re: Europeans Can Now Pick Up a PS4 and Vita Bundle for Under £500

Farmboy74

If you have the money, surely it would be better to pick up the tearaway & little big planet bundle from Amazon for £150??. I agree it's to late for people like me who pre-ordered. I ordered the Killzone mega bundle and if I brought the Vita Tearaway bundle as well for a total cost of £600 I would get a PS4, Vita, two DS4 controllers, PS Eye, Killzone Shadow Fall, Tearaway, Little big planet and 16GB memory card to boot now that's value for money. All I need to check now is that I have a spare £150.........

Re: Are You in Europe? Don't Worry, PS4 Is Right Around the Corner

@Reverend_Skeeve
I've got the weekend off as usual, when I originally pre-ordered my PS4 I wasn't working full time as a plumbing lecturer, only part time. But people of sick and OFSTED coming means I'm a busy boy at the moment. Most likely set it up Saturday afternoon, with loading up Killzone and Assassins Creed 4 Sat night as I have young kids

Re: Blimey, One Million PS4s Were Sold in Just 24 Hours

Farmboy74

@Shogunrok, I think the majority of gamers are still interested and are excited to game on consoles, but as usual it's a combination of hardware that excites and gets people imagination going and also the very important aspect of games people want to play.
Sony have had a good year PR wise for the PS4, what they will not want to do is fall into some kind of software drought.

@ZeD, the last place I would post anything is the IGN forums, to me to many closed minded individuals looking to start a flame war of the slightest thing.

A truly outstanding number of sales posted by Sony. My inner Nintendo fan is also sobbing over an opportunity missed. Only 12 more days till the delivery of my shiny new PS4. But realistically will be 13 now I'm also working on the 29th when originally I wasn't.
If Europe sells a similar number 5 million units by the end of March I would say looks realistic.

Re: Pre-Ordered a PS4? Here Are Your Bundle Options in the UK

Farmboy74

@get2sammyb Game may get some bad press in some quarters for games being over priced compared to say Amazon, but you can't deny their customer service. I initially preordered a PS4 online and recieved an email asking if I wished to upgrade to a bundle or keep my existing preorder. I upgraded to the mega bundle as it offered the most value for money.

Re: Rumour: Is Sony Set to Drop the PS Vita's Price at GamesCom?

Farmboy74

@Sanquine, that it would make it in the UK £129 a price reduction of £40 if you go by Amazon Uk pricing. It would be a very aggressive stance from Sony and would give Nintendo a run for there money with the 3DS. An 8gb card would be better than none, but me being cheeky would like a 16gb card as I must have at least 8gb in PSP downloads on my PSN account!

Re: Rumour: Is Sony Set to Drop the PS Vita's Price at GamesCom?

Farmboy74

@get2sammyb, great article which highlights what I think is the Vita's biggest problem. Maybe as a solution they could release an SKU with 8GB on board ala PSP GO or one with standard micro SDHC cards?
Anyway back on topic, could Gamescom be where the PS4/Vita bundle gets officially announced or a new Vita model as described above?

Re: Rumour: Is Sony Set to Drop the PS Vita's Price at GamesCom?

Farmboy74

The biggest problem I have with the Vita is the price of the memory cards currently £55 in the UK for a 32gb card. For that kind of money I could buy a external 1tb hard drive for my Wii U or buy an internal 1tb hard drive ready for my PS4 I have on preorder. If Sony could lower the price on memory cards or even let third parties make them the Vita might sell better.
