Re: Sony Will Continue to Make PS4 Games Moving Forwards

I remember Digital Foundry constantly talking about these 'anonymous' developers that they claim are sick of the Jaguar CPUs in base PS4 and XBone models. I wonder who these people are because they sure can't be Sony first party or they would be pressuring Sony higher ups to drop it.

It makes me think the gamers and journalists are wrongly assuming how much devs love power considering they keep forcing cross gen despite John's claim that "devs are sick of developing for last gen".

Are devs really sick of it or are DF and gamers who bought into PS5/Series hype sick of it?

This is the thing about throwing a single game. Give the owners an inch and they take the mile. This tactic is not Sony 'changing' how we view exclusives, it is them bandwagoning a tactic that MS did and caving to investors for a bit of extra cash.

Nintendo trying to develop for 2 systems led to nothing but splitting resources. In Sony's case they are remastering games for PC when they could be remastering other games for PS4 that never made the jump yet like Little Big Planet or Twisted Metal. There are still a lot of PS3 exclusives that PS4 owners have not played Sony.

Guy Longworth proclaimed Vita would see at least one major game from every single first party studio they own and Yoshida continued banging the drum that would treat Vita fairly after the criticism PSP received for being left half way in it's life.

If Sony think they can just come out with a successor to the Vita with their tails between their legs I have news for them. Even the blindest fanboy on earth will be asking them questions next time. Vita had by far the worst first party support of any system in recent memory despite how much Sony swore it would be different.

Re: Soapbox: After the Vita's Failure, Why Do People Now Want Console Games on the Go?

Your article implies the direct opposite of what actually happened. When NGP was revealed people proclaimed it the 3DS killer and that 3DS was obviously Nintendo's downfall.

You are using hindsight of what people were saying after the sales actually came in. NeoGAF, GameFAQs, N4G, Playstation Lifestyle, IGN etc were all hyping Vita as the second coming. To me personally I got the impression this was a repeat of PSP and Sony had learned nothing but the backers were saying that "cartridges, trophies, proper dual thumb sticks, OLED screen, region free and the best launch lineup ever" would prove Vita was the go to handheld.

Even after pricing and memory card catches came up people still threw out that Vita was going to crush 3DS UNTIL the sales showed up. Then suddenly they acted like they knew all this was coming. Look up EA and Colin Moriarty's comments on Vita before it came out. Look up the interviews with Geoff Keighley vs Reggie on 3DS and Guy Longworth on Vita.

He asks Reggie "why should people pay $45 on 3DS games when they can get them for $2 on a smart phone?" He asks Guy "What is your sales pitch to people? You know people want a dedicated gaming handheld because the games are so much better". Notice = Geoff KNOWS phone games are no substitute for proper games so why was he trolling Reggie but backing up Sony?
