Re: Sony Accused of Using Generative AI Art for PlayStation Advent Calendar Promo

Slideaway1983

@Chip-Douglas same, as stated earlier. Do I like AI being used in a creative industry? Not really no. Will I avoid games where I can that use it? Yes.

But it will get to a point where's its not noticable anyway, and then what? How will we know? Will devs adhere to the Steam guidelines to put the disclaimer on? Thats not for me to worry about.

As for the clothes thing, thats also an odd one, what with fast fashion. People will pay a premium for hand made stuff, but then the sames people wont pay bare bones prices for sweatshop fast fashion stuff (and that includes me), but will sometimes happily buy from primarni without a care in the world. That works vice versa.

Who's in the right? The profiteering companies paying bate minimum, or the gouging premium brands that sometimes operate under the formers practices anyway?

If AI does indeed become the norm, again, we most probably wont know and the world will still turn. However, if I dont monitor my COPD, I will stop breathing well ahead of schedule 🤣

Re: Red Dead Redemption 1's Free PS5 Upgrade Is Available to Download Now, Included with PS Plus Extra

Slideaway1983

@Thatguyoverthere seeing as the digital version is a ps4 version + free native patch, it should be.

Only thing I can recommend unless anyone else confirms is pop the disk in, wait for updates, and then check the game files on the menu to see if you can "select version" or similar.

You would still need the disk in to play either version though, just in case you dont know.

Re: Cory Barlog Crushes God of War Dreams at The Game Awards

Slideaway1983

@Frmknst agreed, because Internet told them to behave that way, they inevitably do. In a lot of cases, social media companies have a few questions to answer about echo chambers, impatience and immediate gratification.

In fact that could be the three pillars of socials in a way, sadly.

Re: Going Platinum #1: Rocket League

Slideaway1983

@GamingGod cool detailed response! Completely get you in all of that like grinding until the early hours on RDR as opposed to GTAIV - i did try back in the day but due to the "floatiness" of the game I couldn't get into it. Ironically I played a bit of gta online when it first launched and buggy as heck, so I have more trophies on gtav than iv and I played iv online more - servers autopopped on 5!

And I also get what you are saying about AC - I remember my mate "having" to keep playing it with the i dont know what you call them - "tourist" updates where you just find stuff out about landmarks, areas etc and I went round one day and he was just walking around looking at stuff- that was one of the days I realised my hobby was a but naff as I thought there's museums and the Internet for this, I dont need a 300 quid console and 50 quid game to learn it 🤣

And Aye, we've all played some weird stuff for trophies... some I wish id never played, but years ago I had massive depression and drank so it was one of two things: a therapy to escape whilst drinking, or something to do whilst drinking- made the games harder through 🤣 sound shapes and 58 lists, anyone? 🤪🤣

And yeah RDR was something else. Wanted to fo back to it for so long but was never a fan of the online when on my own, but now the ps5 upgrade is out soon, I pulled the trigger and bought it in the sale this last week so ill have that to grind through myself. Though atm im still playing crossworlds (also just bought), katamari (new one) and a few others ive started and just get lost in the shuffle haha.

And yeah finally, id be so narked back in the day with that COD thing - luckily I never went out and bought them. Im not an online gamer per se- the odd few yeah like borderlands to help out mates etc - so if you wanted to do those, id happily help! -but the nature of COD the last decade plus put me off them as they were basically a one trick pony. I gave my ps3 to my stepdad tears ago and he bought them all 2nd hand and I played the campaigns and found them too easy and generic too. Maybe thats just me though! But yes, to have to complete like 4 COD for 1 100%?

If I knew anyone that complained at that, I'd simply laugh and explain that they are the ones that love the franchise and trophies so much they blindly followed like the sheepy lemmings they are 🤪

Cheers for the reply - as I say if I can help with anything, feel free to add me on psn and drop me a message. Worst i can say is no i don't have it. I may not go full on trophy hunting now, but I do still help out the community if someone asks!

As sonic would.probably say "gotta get plats" (stretch, i know!) 🤔🤷🤣

Re: Going Platinum #1: Rocket League

Slideaway1983

@EfYI seems like i posting millions of replies this morning! But you can look up "trophy guides". There's a few dedicated sites that may have them. Im unsure if im allowed to post them, but as a general rule of thumb, type "(game name) trophy guide" and some may or may not come up..

Its mainly down to if certain YouTubers or websites have compiled one.

I usually use them at the end of a playthtough now to see if its a short term thing I need to do, or if its gonna be another 100 hours and I can safely delete the game haha.

Re: Going Platinum #1: Rocket League

Slideaway1983

@Anke id say "ping" personally is the sound effect, but we all hear noises differently that aren't named. We all know a "moo" or an "oink" as it was taught, but Sony never clearly defined what the "pong / ping / ding / dong" is! 🤣

Re: Going Platinum #1: Rocket League

Slideaway1983

@GamingGod Just out of curiosity, how hard is it keeping a profile at 100%? I mean do you play the game twice- once on a dummy account to make sure there's nothing breaking that streak?

Whilst thats either (as you say) sad or something sort of masochistic hobby is uo for debate, but you can't deny the commitment to that bit - especially if a game randomly drops a new trophy list via update, let alone dlc!

You probably make me and my roughly 60% completion, 374 plat list look quaint 🤣

Oh and as its part of the discussion, I think legends of wrestlemania was also my first one and then not soon after (thanks to the time sink of online) red dead redemption, so a bit of a taster for my hard vs easy games I play... and I can say whilst ive played some dross in my lifetime, I never once resorted to the "legendary" hannah Montana (as it is in some "plat" circles)!

Re: Going Platinum #1: Rocket League

Slideaway1983

I think it took me less than a month as at the time it was a "trophy whore" and relentlessly played churning out what I needed to do. As with some games now I juat saw them as mini challenges, and enjoy them now and again. My love of plats has deteriorated now and only play games I want to play (whether easy or hard) and if i can get the trophies, great. If not, so what?!

Re: New Report Finds Almost Half of US Kids Are After In-Game Currency for Christmas

Slideaway1983

@Korgon yes you do need to specify as im an idiot, and the world has changed and I dont like it 🤣

Don't get me wrong, im not a big fan of CIAB, but im certainly not as against it as some switch 2 owners with Game Key Carts (I'm a sw2 owner as well), to me its either a case of buying it if you want it or not.

But with the Internet everyone has to air an opinion, even if it doesnt add anything to an actual conversation. Even when I try and make a point someone usually shoots me down when I get a reply - I got a loy of grief regarding mig switch earlier in the year on the sister site - when id rather of they dont like it just move on and agree to disagree.

This is why I find the PS random on here not quite as bad as at least generally we do talk and dont decend into chaos 🤣

Re: New Report Finds Almost Half of US Kids Are After In-Game Currency for Christmas

Slideaway1983

@Korgon point well made, and i was blatantly looking at a glass half empty perspective - so my bad.

Sort of related but im pretty sure if we had downloads when I was a kid id still have preferred physical as its something on a shelf and I like having collections.

Problem nowadays with everything being "content" and kids either sticking to the same thing, or treating it as disposable when the next "cool" thing comes along with their (undeveloped) attention spans.

I'm one of these up top who say it rests on parents that shove an ipad in their face as a way of babysitting. When I was a kid (granted 30+ years ago), id ask for books, videogames as a big present (snes games were costly!) And toys, so there was intellectual stimulation in varying forms...

Nowadays its like TV in my day but worse with vapid "content" just designed to capture a young mi d with no real benefit to intellectual growth.

But hey, maybe even though my mom weren't great, she raised me to appreciate my brain... or its a different generation... or I'm a weirdo 🤣🤣🤣

Sorry... went off on one there and I think we needed the joke at the end 🤷

Re: Valve's Steam Machine May Not Be As Affordable As a PS5

Slideaway1983

@McSavage I agree with that sentiment as well, though as someone that went out of PC gaming and then back again with the steam deck, things like Linux coding etc was an eye opener for me - though im in the minority, and perhaps 99% of people wouldn't want to potentially go through that just to play a game - so whilst ive defended the cost of machine vs cost of steam.games, I will add that yes, problems with os or similar will not be for everyone - and will be something some adopters may not be aware of.

Re: Valve's Steam Machine May Not Be As Affordable As a PS5

Slideaway1983

@4fold I'll add to your comment as well.

Give me the games I want at steam prices in-sale over psn prices in-sale anyday.

If the console (which it is as its a central unit) and controller was to cost as much as a base ps5, and up to a pro, then you'd save a good chunk of that outlay fairly soon so long as you are patient and buy in sales.

Re: EA Sports Skipping Standalone F1 Game in 2026, Will Return 'Reimagined' in 2027

Slideaway1983

@BlaizeV yeah I get that with the corniche circuit of late - especially making such a good track (IMO, anyway as a modern track its fast and flowing). Maybe that is kind of the point that PIF have given them a briefing or even F1 as well as to what needs to be done. I still personally feel like others its the wrong decision though.

Also agree with what you are saying with open wheel considering we usually have Porsche supercup, W series, f1, 2 and 3 all over race weekends - they can make a fairly fleshed out game if they wanted to. I loved TOCA back in the day, always loved the muller "cow" car that I think Plato drove 🤣

But ive got to be honest as I haven't bought this year's yet as im waiting for a deep sale. Last years update for me was "tyre deg" and thats all I could notice so wasn't interested in full price this year. That and I never find anyone to play online with and all of those randoms that just barge you off the track in damage on races, MP isn't for me.

Of course if anyone on here was willing to play a game with me id pick it up, as id love some good friends to play my favourite sports game!

Re: EA Sports Skipping Standalone F1 Game in 2026, Will Return 'Reimagined' in 2027

Slideaway1983

@Dogbreath id imagine they could get everything bolted in with sounds etc by the mid season break - that gives them what, 5 months ti capture audio - which ive always thought is the perfect time to launch the game anyway - previous years the only reason its been Silverstone weekend was presumably the "hardcore" brit crowd, but now the break seems apt for the worldwide audience.

Re: EA Sports Skipping Standalone F1 Game in 2026, Will Return 'Reimagined' in 2027

Slideaway1983

If ever there was a year as an "add on" year, this year was it with the new regs next year it would.have made more sense to concentrate on that.

Smacks to me of a "we dont know how next year will shake out, so cba" more than anything... if they have to 3d .model the cars anyway for next year's "version" then why not do a while new game and skip this year's?

All im saying is next year is gonna be the biggest shake up since hybrids came into the sport, and having the license, they should have planned accordingly.

Already not looking good with the buyout seemingly leading to this.

Re: Tomb Raider Dev Loses Another 30 Staff in New Round of Layoffs

Slideaway1983

Everyone else: people are losing their jobs because of the industry.

Nintendo: everyone gets a payrise.

Some nintendo fans: why are games now so expensive?!

People who own multiple formats: at least I'm paying for someone's payrise by paying nearly 70 quid for donkey kong.

The models shown across the board aren't compatible at all, and as a ps5 and s2 owner, I can see the plus and minus all around - even as a consumer, its a difficult time to understand just what the heck is going on as its far more complex than "Sony bad, nintendo milking fans" when it comes to gane prices.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? - Issue 602

Slideaway1983

As im a dump or finish kind of gamer, still on borderlands 4... maybe get the platinum if I can figure out the fishing (not looked at a guide for that yet, but no fishes for me!) Just got to unlock level 5 post game (last mission) and those are the 2 hardest things to go...

Then its either back to kirby on switch 2 or buying shapes and beats as its finally on sale!

Re: 'I Pushed for It': Final Fantasy 7 Remake Director on Why the New Progression 'Cheats' Are Important

Slideaway1983

Platinumed the 1st one and felt great about it - then rude and elena handed my backside to me on the hardest difficulty playthrough of the 2nd.

If I still had the game id give it a whirl, but if trophies were activated, it would feel cheap; and ive no need to play through it again otherwise beating it on normal and "knowing" the story.

Buuuut... yes its a good idea for those that are a teeny bit late to the party!

Re: It's Not Fixed Yet, But Borderlands 4 Still Wants You Hyped for Its First DLC Character

Slideaway1983

@Veritas7Ax @Ricky-Spanish its certainly more adult (in a non toilet humour type of way - so I guess mature is apt), but the story i feel needed fleshing out. I and my friend also struggle to know the story as we're in the same boat as you and understand concept now and fly tbrough things, but with all the gun fire / firefights you miss like 75% of the dialogue unless you turn sound effects down, which is a shame.

Its definitely up there with 2, but not as high, and better than the last 2 iim TTW and BL3.

I'd certainly recommend it as a sale buy if ever you are at least interested.

And yes, in TPS I was so close to losing the final fight against guardian and magically pulled out pirate ship and my trusty tongue (haha - ofc i mean torgue- typo! -edit) shotgun... killed it in fight for your life and I just laughed (drunkenly at the time!).

This is in response to veritas: gaige made me solo the game again as she rocked. Same with Jack in TPS, despite the game.

Krieg I really couldn't get on with as he wasn't my usual play style (commando).

Re: Random: Perhaps Ruben Amorim Should Buy the Current Man United Squad PSPs

Slideaway1983

@Ricky-Spanish absolutely agree. I only supported them from the inaugural PL season as my mom picked a random side to have a bet on and I did - I picked united as I used to go to Manchester to visit family and the team stuck after that - so in a way I am a glory hunter 🤣 but ive been through it all as well, as well as knowing the history, heritage etc - as I said above not many realise fergie was nearly sacked before the cup win saved him; so everything we know as united now would probably have been "another day" if they did, so can't cry over it...

And lets bot forget fergie was no saint- Veron, taibi, forlan et al were hardly stands outs in the team... its just that we are now buying 5 a season 🤣🤣🤣
