Am I sold on it? š¤ Well, I love third person shooters, Capcom are on fire and Dead Space is in my top 5 gaming series of all time⦠so yeah, yeah you could say Iām pretty sold on it.
@LtSarge well just because Clair Obscure: Expedition 33 has 33 in the title, it doesnāt mean that it was the 33rd iteration⦠it was a wholly original game and therefore delivered an original experience š
@LtSarge I think that direct sequels have always delivered a very similar gameplay experience to their previous instalments for the most part.
From 8-bit games like Super Mario Bros. to Super Mario Bros. 2 (the real 2) through to more modern games like Gears of War to Gears of War 2 or Forza Horizon 4 to Forza Horizon 5, the core gameplay is often only changed with minor tweaks for the most part.
Reboots like God of War 2018 is different as the whole gameplay delivery was redesigned but reboots are far more rare that sequels.
Yeah Iāve been relatively excited for this since the first theatrical trailer at the start of this year⦠and this gameplay probably adds a little support to that.
I wasnāt a massive fan of the combat in Witcher 3 and this looks pretty similar⦠but Iām hoping the open world, narrative and characters will mean that any grumbles I have with the sword-play is mitigated, as was the case with W3.
Had a great time on Zombie Army Trilogy this week and will hopefully finish off the Sniper Elite playthrough over this weekend. All the hordes are done and will then just have a few collectibles and some miscellaneous trophies left to mop up. Big shout out to @CaptD who already has the platinum (popped around 6 years ago I might add) but has been down to pop zombie skulls all week!
Another great game by Rebellion and another one of their back-catalogue that theyāve patched for PS5, hereās to hoping Zombie Army 5 happens one day š»!
@get2sammyb never said that they didnāt. Obviously if you get extremely lucky you could make a Fortnite or a Warzone (the profits of which dwarf any and all single player games) but the chances of that happening are likely 100-1.
So, I stand by what I said, the chances of you making a healthy profit (notice I didnāt say the same or more profit than the odd successful GaaS) with a quality single player game has far better odds.
This is where the gaming industry needs to be getting back to. Yes the odd live service game makes gazillions⦠but if you manage to make a stellar single player game, the chances of it making a healthy profit are far more in your favour.
Man⦠Christophe Gans! I remember absolutely loving Brotherhood of the Wolf back around 20 years ago. Might be about time to revisit that actually⦠might watch the original Silent Hill movie again while Iām at it š¤
Played it a few years ago⦠and while Iāll definitely be up for another playthrough one day, it wonāt be for a good few years. Might be one of those games that a decade between playthroughs would actually feel about right for me personally.
Around a half way through my Ghost & Clean Hands playthrough on Dishonored, so should finish that off over this weekend. Whenever Iāve played it through before, Iāve always gone quite high chaos, so itās been a nice change to just get in unseen, non-lethal the target and get out without searching every nook-and-cranny.
Then on to Zombie Army Trilogy, which Iām looking forward to. ZA4 was up there with my favourite games I played in 2023, so Iām hoping I feel similarly about this. Have a good one squarepushers!
Absolutely hammered The Division this week with @CaptD. Finished off the campaign and most of the way through a hard playthrough too. Gonna try and finish that off today and maybe a first venture out into the Dark Zone too š¬. Really good game though and⦠yet another Ubisoft game that Iāve thoroughly enjoyed. Happy weekend squarepushers!
Still a bit disappointed at the transition from open-world to linear level design⦠but interested nonetheless. The narrative seems like itāll be strong and the production values of the trailers cut scenes at least, look good, so š¤it turns out well.
While I personally have never really been interested in this (& Iām a massive souls fan), the fact that it has sold well was surely never in doubt. If a dlc (SotE) shifted over 5 million in 3 days, a co-op standalone game with the Elden Ring branding was always gonna sell.
Been playing a lot of The Division this week and really enjoying it tbh. If I can find any time to game this weekend itāll either be a bit of that (if @CaptD and I are free at the same time) or making a return to Dunwall with Dishonored. Love me some immersive-sims and itās probably been about ten years since my last playthrough, so really looking forward to it. Happy weekend squarepushers!
Gonna do a bit of mopping up on Dragon Age: Origins and also will install the original The Division, so might try and get the intro done on that.
Werenāt a massive fan of The Division 2 back when I played it a few years back⦠but strangely Iāve been fancying going back to it recently so weāll see how my opinion may change on the series.
Gone all the way back to Dragon Age: Origins on PS3, as I plan on playing through the whole series over the next few years. Canāt believe how much this game has aged in terms of the technical aspects (the frame rate drops down to single digits at points š ) but Iām still enjoying the trip down memory lane.
Just playing through the Mages Circle for the second time in two days (to get both outcomes) and what a great level/section that is. This section alone took up most of my day yesterday trying to work out where the hell I needed to go but pretty much done on my second run in half the time as itās fresh in the memory. Looking forward to going deeper.
Might fit the odd round of golf in on PGA 2K23 too. Have a good one peeps.
