Path of Exile 2 is probably the hottest game on the planet right now. The action RPG just launched into early access and it's already attracting a ridiculously large audience — but are you part of the hype?
The first Path of Exile really struck a chord with genre enthusiasts, scratching a Diablo-like itch that Blizzard's own property struggled to satisfy. A free-to-play title that was — and still is — considered to be incredibly fair in terms of business model, its sequel has been highly anticipated for years.
And now that Path of Exile 2 is here, the excitement has exploded. While the title has been hit with some inevitable launch issues — with developer Grinding Gear Games coming out and admitting that things might get rough — early impressions seem to be very, very positive.
But again, are you playing Path of Exile 2? Throw a vote into our poll, and then suck up some loot in the comments section below.

Waiting on full release!
I AM tempted to take a character all the way through the first game though!
I am tempted, but with the queueing issues and the fact it'll be free (and hopefully with much more added) when it hits full launch then I can't justify dropping money on it at the moment.
I tried to play it yesterday but was met with a server queue of about 28000 that did go down to 8000 in the evening. I'm going to have another go later this evening 😁
I'm addicted. Was able to get in no problem after work yesterday and I've been playing all day today.
Nope.
I'm playing Iron Meat and it's great.
Will play when it launches in full for free, but just loaded up the shiny new PS5 version of the first one to take a new character through in the meantime
I’m tempted. I’ve got a lot to play but I really got into D4 upon release and that has shown me I’m a sucker for these games. Combine that with the souls like challenge I keep hearing about and I’ll pony up the money to support them.
Such an overhyped release. It's not even containing half the promised content. I get supporting devs and all but I have zero interest paying for a half completed game likely a year or more early. especially with its loot system still so grindy and the 3 locales being so mid in an unfinished campaign you have to play through twice to get to endgame.
Early access is what it is, but to pay to beta test and title with such a large chunk unfinished is just not the initial experience I want to have.
Takes fomo out of it completely so it's an easy wait.
Waiting for the full release + I want to see if the sequel still feel like a second job.
I hate games that are complicated for the sake of being complicated to take up people's time.
Loved the first one up to a point and then drifted off. I’ll definitely give it a go when it’s F2P
Also as a kiwi I like to support NZ devs when possible
0 interest in this type of game personally
@springer17 no que when I downloaded and logged in today
Looks amazing! 👌 Been telling myself to wait a while, but we'll see how resilient I am the next time I get an itch for some sweet aRPG gameplay. 😁
@Cutmastavictory glad that's been sorted out, always risky with a brand new online game
Yeah i'm playing it. Was pretty shocked at first at how much slower paced it is compared to Diablo 4, its very much in the vain of D2 in both pace and tone. Its good though and the sheer depth on offer is pretty overwhelming compared to D4. Liking the challage though and it kinda has a Dark Souls feel to it in that you can't go in blindly button mashing enemies and bosses, instead you must be more thoughtful and deliberate in your actions.
Some advice use the MTX currency to buy stash upgrades because you will need it. I got the £45 version so i had 600 coins, i spent nearly half on stash upgrades and spent the rest on this pretty sick cosmetic outfit that is basically the galaxy wrapped you and it even animates so you can see the stars move around the outfit.
i hate games with this kind of camera . no matter how much i try to get into it like diablo 4 , the camera just gives me a lite headache
so no unfortunately
@DennisReynolds lucky you with your 600 points! I picked the founders option with 300 points but have yet to actually receive the points!
Likely due to server issues between their back-end (pathofexile.com indicates I don't have access to PoE2) and the game itself. Hopefully it gets sorted soon.
Other than that I'm thoroughly enjoying the game! Even though I stumbled upon some frosty hag in the forest that absolutely destroyed me in second...
Behemoth is currently my jam!🔥🤘
@ZeroSum It didn't show instantly but after browsing the store for about a minute they appeared.
It’s been great. Much harder.. at least for melee classes it seems. But I can already feel this is better than Diablo 4. I hope blizzard learns from this.
Nope, I'm diving into Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
It looks great but I don't do ftp, and most loot games get overwhelming for me. I enjoy finding a secret in a designed level to get great gear early, but I would rather have 8-10 weapons that matter than a billion possible, color-tiered, "loot" weapons. Finding certain weapons early in an old-school fps, for instance, felt game breaking. Love it.
No. the game looks great but I think it would be too time-consuming, and I already have a huge backlog of games to play.
There should be an option for "Yes, but only for 2 hours then I uninstalled it"
Slow, tedious, boring, and they basically took everything that was great about POE and turned it into this garbage mesh up of Souls-like game ARPG no one asked and somehow managed to make the loot system also trash. I ran a dungeon with absolutely 0 drops for a full 90 minutes, not to mention boss fights that are 70% dodge roll with clunky mechanic that just doesn't work with a top down camera like this game. This is also probably the first ARPG I've played where your character somehow felt weaker as you leveled up because how your skill level is tied in to the loot RNG drop that never seems to be in your favour. Just plain not fun.
They keep saying end-game is where the game really shines, but when it's a slog to get there, no one will experience endgame. Diablo IV finally learned this and made early leveling faster, even Last Epoch knows this and made early leveling faster. Who actually asked for this game to be a Dark Soul mashup?
I want an ARPG because I sucked at Souls games, so I avoid those games or anything that pretended to be one.
They had a winning formula with POE and somehow they managed to ruin that with this Dark Souls wanna be game with one of the worst skill systems in any ARPG I've seen.
I'm going back to POE.
Every minute i can and absolutelly loving it so far!
After the collosal failirue that was Diablo4, this is the arpg i was waiting for.
Much slower and methodical combat makes it feel way more impactful. Its way harder than i expected too!
The classes seem very different from one another compared to PoE1.
Great idea making skill gems separate from gear, felt very limiting in PoE1 having to haul a crappy item just for the gem slots.
Addition of gold is great for new players!
So far the game does really good job introducing new players.
10/10 so far, hope it lasts
@nomither6 I understand. I have headache from asymmetric 3rd person where you have camera not above head, but behind shoulder.
I got so hyped that I just tried out the first game and am loving it!
I have zero time for ongoing f2p. I loved PoE, but i need to be off sick from work just to have time for more games.
@AndyKazama it doesn’t play like a f2p. There are only cosmetics in the store.
Removed - flaming/arguing
Going to wait for the full release. Plenty to keep me going until this life sapper lands.
@SteveJaye if it’s like PoE 1, it’ll keep adding content I don’t have time to play. Like I said, I love the idea of the game. No time is the problem.
I bought it, but I'm enjoying Infinity Nikki far more than I was expecting, so I won't be playing it properly until I'm done with that.
I’m playing Behemoth. An amazing game. Perhaps give it some coverage.
Yes, and it's magnificent.
Not currently free so no.
Paid $40 for PC EA years and years ago. Kind of feel miffed I don't just get PoE 2 EA for free.
So i either wait 6 months to play free to play or pay $30 to try a demo with half the content and only half the characters? Yea id rather wait. They should have done it the other way where they charge 30 bucks for the end product and free to try demo instead. That way its still better cost wise than diablo 4
@DennisReynolds ended up being tied to an item in the store.
Posting this here incase anyone else is wondering where the points are.
On the left side of the store is a tab that lists the various editions aka founders packs. Find the one you purchased and click on it. Depending on your platform the game should attempt to take you to the store to buy the pack, but automatically close the store returning you to the game with the points and removing that edition from the available tiles.
@BansheeNorn To be fair they give you that $30 back in MTX currency and you will need it for stash taps.
Trying to. My mercenary is pretty weak.
@djlard yeah , behind the shoulder camera sucks too
lvl 32 Sorc. And already GOTY for me.
And for those commenting on paying $30 on a f2p game, you get in-game currency in the packs. So you are not just paying for EA.
Also I believe the currency can be spent in both PoE 1 & 2.
Cheers!
Rather play the new Indiana Jones game on game pass
Is anyone having quite severe performance issues? I bought it on a whim after remembering I have some PS wallet credit from Stars. In highly populated areas the frame rate dips massively and outright freezes a fair bit. I’d be tempted to blame my internet but I have been playing online games regularly on the same connection with no problems.
@GeeEssEff I have had a really smooth ride since day 2. No lag at all actually apart from once, but that was GGG releasing a patch that I had to download and after that everything was perfect again. You might need to change server if you get a laggy experience.
@Zeke68 Cheers mate. It was really bad for me at the weekend but I played last night and it was near perfect (except when I was in a town with loads of other players). I think it might have just been a bit of a hangover from the launch issues. Either way I’m enjoying it immensely, especially last night without the lag!
@GeeEssEff Good to hear it's better now. But if you have a router you might consider turn it off a minute or two, and then restart it "fresh".
That is something must of us forget to do on a regular basis, and that can solve hiccups like laggy games and so on. Worth a try right?!
@nomither6
Sadly top down games appeal to everyone.
I love Diablo 3, Diablo IV, Diablo Immortal and the first POE so I’ll definitely be getting the second one at some point.
I do plan on getting BG3 next year and if I remember correctly Fallout 1&2 have this camera as well don’t they?
@Dragoon1994 yes
not in too top down games
