Look, we know February has been ridiculously busy, but surely you've got time for a new monster-slaying adventure from unlikely publishing partners EA and Koei Tecmo?
Wild Hearts is out now on PS5, bringing some welcome competition to the hunting game space. The game's been warmly received by reviewers, and public opinion seems to be quite positive at the time of writing. This is, by most accounts, a very enjoyable action RPG — but we do worry that it's launched at a bad time, with so many other titles surrounding it.
And so we ask: are you playing Wild Hearts? As always, vote in our polls, and then explain yourself in the comments section below.
Are you playing Wild Hearts? (1,255 votes)
- Yes, I'm playing it
- Not yet, but I do want to play it
- I'm not sure about the game yet
- Nah, I'm busy with other games
- No, I don't care about Wild Hearts
How well do you think Wild Hearts will sell? (1,010 votes)
- It'll do very well for itself
- It'll do okay
- It'll do poorly
- It'll be a disaster

Not a chance I'm buying this at £70 when Monster Hunter Rise launched a month ago at £32.99. I also watched some gameplay and was a bit underwhelmed, it comes across quite low-budget.
I welcome more games in the genre. They don't need to be as good as Monster Hunter to be worthwhile, but I'm not sure on this one
Im not supporting the Monster Hunter Rise game no physical release. I'm waiting for Monster Hunter World 2 it's baffling that they still have not announced it.
I like the look of a game but there Is so much to buy I just can't buy everything because I simply don't have the time to play it.
I'll probably buy it sometime down the line.
Regarding sales, I think it'll do decent at the start but numbers will kinda taper off at a pretty quick pace.
But that's just my two cents.
Not yet, but I do plan on getting it. The Toukiden games are probably my favorite Monster Hunter-esque games overall (I might even like them more) so I know Omega Force has the chops to make this a great game.
Perhaps ironically, this game made me want to go back and play more Toukiden, which is why I haven't picked up Wild Hearts yet.
I played both MH World and Rise and while they are good they didn't really catch me. Therefore I obviously don't need a clone either
waiting for a few updates then im on it
What is Wild Hearts? Seriously in constant spamming of re-releasing articles and 74284794327846448th article about Last of Us, this Wild Hearts news has fallen somewhere under bed.
@mariomaster96 What horrible avatar it will give me nightmares.
@Flaming_Kaiser I'll take that as a compliment
@Enuo toukiden is a excellent game.both toukiden games are amazing.wild hearts looks really good.word up son
don’t care but i wanna say it’s great when new IPs (if this is new) give other games in its genre some competition . we could use a lot more of that . look how much competition fortnite has & the games only gotten better because of it
In a word, no, absolute not
I'm playing and it's really fun with friends. The world is massive and the monsters are interesting. The only downside is the performance. I'd wager that after a month or so of patch it will be really good though.
Not playing, don't care about WildHearts and unlikely to Play even when it comes to EA Access...
I don't care how well it sells (or doesn't) - it won't affect me in anyway. I won't 'buy' the game regardless as I don't think I'll be interested in playing, especially not 'more' than the Games I already have that I want to play/finish, let alone any new games that are coming out.
It doesn't matter if they give it away 'free' to me, I'd still rather play games in my backlog than start playing this.
All I 'hope' is that it finds its 'audience' and they are happy with it. As long as people are not losing jobs because it didn't find its audience for whatever reason, I don't really care...
It honestly looks like a lot of fun and I hope it succeeds. But, I’m waiting a bit for the price to drop. I’ve never played a game like it so I don’t think I can commit full price to such an unknown. Also, there are just so many games on my backlog right now to justify buying new games. I hope it does well though!
Playing since last Friday and enjoying it very much.
I'm interested, but I don't have a PS5 yet. Plus, there's too many other games I'm more eager to play instead right now. But it is a game that I wouldn't mind playing at some point, and hopefully it sells well enough.
Nope, I have multiple Monster Hunters...why would I want a lesser version of something I already have?
I've watched a few hours of gameplay and the amount of comments to the effect of "I could never get into Monster Hunter, but I'm LOVING Wild Hearts" is kind of baffling to me. One review I watched, from a channel and people I love and trust, were giving all the reasons they're enjoying it and I was just like...you guys are straight up just describing MH Rise, like almost exactly.
Going to be a little busy for the next few years, lol.
Will a MH clone do well while MH Rise just released on PS5? Nope, it won't.
I will be in the future but not right now. Unfortunately I'm kinda swamped with others games, including MH Rise
I would like to contribute to it but at least I hope it does well. The fact that there's really only monster hunter out there in this supposed "hunting genre" is baffling. I'd love to see more games take on MHs approach and build upon it
Nah, it’s not for me. Nothing I’ve seen has sold me on it and this year is busy enough already without having to add another gigantic title to the backlog.
The sales question is kind of weird because I imagine everyone has a different take on what selling well means, including EA and Tecmo Koei themselves. Do I think this game will sell MH World numbers? No, but I imagine it doesn't have to to do well for Tecmo Koei.
Some of my online MH friends think this game is pretty neat, so that's a good sign. I'll be skipping it since it's just not a genre I enjoy much. I got tired of MH World after 20 or so hours.
I think game devs need to realise that out of all the worldwide game sales, I bet 60-80% of them are the same people. Maybe space the releases out a bit and your game might sell a few more copies.
I'm sure it'll do fine, but it seems like one of those games where there'll be a pretty steep drop in the player base soon. I'd rather play monster hunter, but points to them for including cross platform play!
@Flaming_Kaiser I expect we'll start hearing about the World sequel later this year, and it'll be out early next year. World had a very long tail, and Rise has had an even longer tail because of the staggered releases and updates, but I'm guessing it'll start winding down once Sunbreak is out on PS and Xbox in the coming months.
I wasn’t going to buy it but I have a brand new PS5 with nothing to play on it so I ordered a copy
I bought it, and I'm playing it. The game is a lot of fun, the multiplayer hunts are a blast. The performance is...for lack of a better word...bleak. The biggest performance issue I get is the slowdown effect. The game is running fine, then suddenly its like swimming in molasses. Its not frame drops, its the whole game just starts moving in slow motion. I have never seen anything like it in any other game (though I've heard that Nioh 2 had a similar problem). The sound problem is pretty bad sometimes too, but the slowdown is the most frustrating. But if you can fight through the glitches/bugginess/performance issues, the game itself is a lot of fun. Here's to hoping the upcoming "performance patch" the developers have promised REALLY helps with the performance!
Also, on console, you definitely have to play in "performance" over "quality" (or whatever its called in game) mode..."quality mode" is anything but on all consoles (I know for a fact it is on Xbox X) or so I've heard.
Only reason I’m playing it is the 10-hour trial on EA Play/GamePass. Not a huge Monster Hunter gamer (too complex for my tastes) so won’t likely even finish the trial.
apparently, the performance is abysmal on the level of callisto or cyberfraud. Unless they fix all that, with a game that looks this dated.... I'm good.
Which is a shame because the concepts apparently play well. I just don't understand why developers and their overlords continue to release games technically unpolished merely to meet targets, shareholder deadlines or fit into some arbitrary windows.
I always thought it was free to play?
I could since its on gamepass but eh not into it.

@sonicmeerkat No, its not technically "on GamePass". If you have GamePass Ultimate, that gives you access to EA Play, which has a 10 hour demo. Otherwise, you have to pay for it; it is not a GamePass game.
@Highlar Haha! Yeah, many people on GamePass probably only play their games for a couple hours so they don’t know the difference between playing a trial and playing the game.
Regarding Wild Hearts, I think this game is victim of release timing. It was never going to be a best seller, but it’s getting buried by Hogwart’s and the anticipation for the other big games coming soon.
@GeneJacket I guess let me tell you as someone who loved World and MH Freedom Unite, but just found Rise "good" - Wild Hearts feels closer to what I was hoping for Rise after World. It has the more arcadey feel, with fun traversal and mechanics that feel better than the wirebugs for me (at least so far). The building mechanic feels much more like a unique take on the formula with the options available as it's not just a wirebugs stand-in, but also a stand-in for hunter artes and traps. Speaking as a guy with over 1700 hrs in MHW:I, and more than 500 hrs each in Freedom Unite and MHR:S - I'm having fun with what I've played so far, and more fun than I had starting Rise.
Not sure, yet but I might get at some point when it's on sale.
There are some things that I like. Like the character creation which I think is great. The environments look good as well, whilst the gameplay play looks decent. I quite like the Wagasa but apparently the weapons in general don't seem to have the depth in terms of move sets compared to the weapons in the MH games?
Some of the things that I don't like are things like the (alien tech) Karakuri as I feel it's a bit out of place in a Feudal Japan setting. They also feel a bit gimmicky. The Kemono designs are decent but at the same time a bit on the safe side and nothing special. The $70 price is also a bit expensive.
I have sunk a lot of hours in to MHW and recently picked up rise but haven't touched it since Wild Hearts release. Haven't had to deal with any performance issues in about 20 hours and jumping in to multiplayer is very easy and obviously more fun as a trio.
Definitely starting to notice a little difficulty spike but still really enjoying it.
Don't really get the negative comments re fortnite personally because the building is pretty intuitive and makes for a fresh take on the combat, much more so than the wirebugs from MH Rise in my opinion.
Will be sticking around for end game on this one and we'll see how long the promise of free DLC and support lasts...
Too many reviews highlighted it's similarity to MH for me. I played MHW, became obsessed with it for a while, and then put it down. If I wanted to scratch that itch again, I know where MHW is. The building mechanic doesn't seem like it offers enough differentiation to me, and in fact seems overcomplicated. I liked the purity that came with carefully crafting your weapon, gear and tools in MHW, and then flawlessly executing on a hunt with others.
not yet, but want to.
Need to finish Hogwarts Legacy and Atomic Heart first.
Hard to keep up with all the new games... I mean, it is a good "problem" to have 😀
I haven't even bought the game yet. Waiting for it to be $20 New or free with PS Plus, whichever happens first.
@Highlar
Oh you're right I was thinking of Wu Kong, not interested either way but I guess I would only get to play it for 10 hours if I did.
