The open beta period for Diablo 4 has come to a close. This past weekend, all players on PS5 and PS4 were able to download the beta and get stuck in (queue times permitting), taking all five playable classes for a test drive. With the full game set to launch on the 6th June, this was a great opportunity to see how the loot-driven action RPG is shaping up, both in terms of gameplay and structure.
We'll have our own impressions published here on Push Square shortly, but until then, we want to know what you thought of the Diablo 4 beta. How much did you play? What character class did you roll with? Are you sold on the game?

Question is: PC or ps5?
PC is a little better but no family sharing.
Not sold on the full shift to live service/mmo. Wish it had an offline mode. However I get it. With the trajectory Activision has gone with Diablo, and the gaming space as a whole. This was the inevitable progression.
I've heard the online related issues are severe. Mass lag and rubber banding and poor Performance. It's just more a case for at least having an offline mode. I mean this isn't a free game. To pay for a game that can at times be unplayable is just not My thing.
Many outlets outside of corporate game media, suggest this game needs a delay.
It was good. Not sure what I expected, but I think that was it. I’m currently playing Diablo 3, of course my characters are absolute powerhouses at this point so it was a bit weird going back to basics. Kind of weird not having a spammable roll on the right stick, I prefer the radial menus in D3, I like the quick equip option on D3 with the up/down arrows.
Not to say I really dislike D4 because it doesn’t have this stuff, it’s just different.
I didn’t play too much of the game as I want to save it for release.
So overall, not blown away but didn’t expect to be and I’m sure anything it’s lacking will be made up for in heaps elsewhere once I really get into it.
Loved it. In a way i regret playing it because it’s made the wait until June really annoying!
I like the art design and most of the combat, but I really dislike that they turned it into Lost Ark online. That coupled with the microtransactions and battlepass will make this a "wait for discount" buy for me.
Ya it was fun. But more than enough, no need for the full game anymore 😄
Didn't play the beta, not really hyped for the game though. I imagine it'll need some patching before it's truly a great experience anyways. I can easily wait.
Story seems a lot more interesting this time around but it just felt like I was playing D3 again which was a little too repetitive for me. Definitely gonna hold off especially in June which is FF16 month
Really looking forward to launch now, I hope they manage to sort out the rubberbanding though as that was my only real issue.
I'll be playing this with a few friends so it'll be interesting to see how well the MMOish stuff holds up.
I really enjoyed the beta and looking forward to the full release. They only thing I didn't like was how the Storm Druid played but hopefully they will adjust it before the full release.
I enjoyed it, but left super disappointed. Level scaling, always online, boring UI. Just so many issues. Will probably just continue playing Diablo 2 Resurrected when I want my Diablo fix.
I think D3 is probably the game I have the most overall hours on as a guess, I find the looting loop extremely addictive. But I doubt I'll have the same amount of time to play this new iteration now because of boring life responsibilities and stuff.
It was good and it got my friend excited about playing. Which is good for Blizzard because it means I'll probably get it sooner
A couple of disappointments aside (dodge cooldown, especially when playing rogue and no UI iteration in a decade of development - seriously!) I had a fantastic time with the beta and have preordered the game.
Played Druid to 15 and Rogue to 21, I have to say the glass cannon nature of the rogue had me grinning.
Story beats were way better integrated in gameplay compared to previous iterations, the atmosphere is a return to the darkness of D2 and items perks (so far) hint at way more interesting build crafting than D3's gear score obsession.
I didnt try it as i'm a hardcore diablo fan so i'm just going to buy it day one regardless. I'm hearing its more like diablo 2 which is great news. I'm not bothered about the live service model it seems to have adopted as path of exile was not hurt by it. I cant wait to be honest.
it was alright
i liked demon mommy
@Loamy that was something i liked about it , how dark and gothic it was & then i was told that i should skip 3 and just play D2 , i see why now . if 3 is nothing like 4 , then i don’t mind not playing it
@GuttyYZ same here , it’s not enough time to do what you enjoy because of obnoxious “responsibilities”
i barely got to play the beta
I'm going to put a ridiculous amount of hours into this game.
Loved Diablo 3. Played through it several times. Quit out after 20 minutes. Bored to tears.
@Mega-Gazz why does that matter?
Had great with necro, can't wait for the release. Day 1.
The que was crazy. The shortest wait time I had was 10 minutes. Didn't even bother. Just uninstalled it.
CAN’T WAIT until June. Diablo is a top 5 franchise for me. This game will last me for years upon years, Day one for me and the Beta ending has me looking at my Series X and PS5 kinda sideways, nothing on them has my attention at the moment. Outdoor hobby time until June!
@Cutmastavictory it means I need to buy it 2-3 times on pc if I want my family to be able to play, once on ps5.
I’m all in. Probably on PC though, but I’m not sure yet. D3 played so good on a controller but this feels a bit different. I played the beta on PC, what was everyone’s thoughts on the controller layout?
Never had an opportunity for the fact I kept getting kicked out of the queue.
Had 3 sessions
First queued 35 mins - Rogue
Second queued 3 sec - Necro
Third queued 3 sec - Sorcerer
Skipped all cutscenes, because it is Diablo! No talking, more slaying!
First I thought it was made by Ubisoft, because world is simply empty. Especially last hour was only about running (really??? in Diablo???) so that let sour taste on my tongue... Nekro was totally overpowered, Rogue underpowered. That grimm look was perfect at first, soon I found out whole game was about mint-green, red, black and snow (why the hell snow again?) so I hope there will be more colours because it started to be monotonous (like Darksiders 2). Loot was 90 percent about life potions and gold, so I hope for more items. Sorcerer seemed broken, because chain lightning was working randomly. Inv/Skills/Menus are total chaos (why they didn't keep D3 style???), that needs complete redo.
Anyway... I'm buying physical without doubt, even if that pain in ass - always online. But more and more I think about it, it is just D3 in darker coat.
I only could play it for about an hour and while I enjoyed it, I've seen enough of Diablo formula to know it's not a game for me in the long run. I simply do not enjoy games where loot is 80% of the reason to play them.
The last time i played Diablo it was in ancient times of Diablo 2 but i did download i play Diablo 4 beta up to lvl 11. I actually liked it a lot and if the online aspect of the game is really mmo'ish (i am mostly online gamer) i will consider getting the game few weeks after the release with bugs and glitches ironed out.
I am not super hard fan of Diablo, but game franchise interests me. I liked D2R in general, but after that I tried D3, and that gameplay pulled me in. At that point D2R had more interesting skill tree system and D3 had Combat gameplay. And now Diablo 4 smashed those 2 features together and I am super hyped for game. Ordered Deluxe version. And if I count 18% discount on Shopto gift cards and Stars Rewards system 4% rebate, then Deluxe version cost me around 71£. Great game and super discount, I am all in. See you in June. Hype train keeps rolling
I just wanted to give it a try as it's been ages since I played D2. It completely blew my mind. I completed it for necro and sorcerer. Got me incredibly hyped, gonna buy it day 1.
I was checking if there are any diablo like games on ps extra to play in the meantime, I found Warhammer chaosbane, it is good fun!
I never had the time to wait in the virtual queue, so I didn't get to play. I'll check out the full release though.
Nice revival and nostalgic feeling of D2 back in 2000... with the same game mechanics, just a glorified and colourful modern skin. Yes, it is faster and else, but the price of $70+, no, never, perhaps at $25 and there's the problem with localisation, and you cannot change the language as happened in Diablo 3, I must play it in Spanish because it's locked to Mexico, so, no... for $70 I've got better graphics, great haptic feedback, great sound and even 120Hz mode of those so hated games as Callisto Protocol and Forspoken, I know, a very unpopular opinion...
@nomither6 you should not skip 3..i love diablo 2 but d3 is just as good in a different way. I really liked the jump in and play approach to d3 as in no faffing around just straight in battering the crap out of everything whilst looking damn cool doing it. Ok the skill tree is nowhere near as deep as d2 but it was a welcome change and the loot drops are brilliant and only get better on the higher torment levels. D2 is a much darker and tougher arpg yes but you should not skip d3 especially as you can get it for next to nothing now and it plays superbly on the ps4..i know you like multiplayer games so maybe give it a go or try path of exile as thats free.
@Northern_munkey eh i’ll take your word into consideration, but really want to try 2 more for the simple fact that its supposedly more like D4 and i liked the beta and REALLY like the gothic dark theme of it . it’s that ambience that kept me into playing the beta , it had a strong atmosphere and a dark gruesome story .
maybe i’ll like 3 , sure , but i gotta try D2 first
Really enjoyed the Story in this and art style is fantastic, properly grim atmosphere, also the freedom move around the map is alot better than Diablo 3. i didnt really have any technical issues, bar waiting times on the Friday but that was expected.got a tiny bit of rubberbanding and at one point going back into a boss fight,my character was invisible but re-appeared a minute or 2 later.really loking forward to the full game
As much as I wanted to like it and I do to a point I found it a bit if a repetitive button bashing experience tbh.
Am I doing something wrong?
Never played Diablo before
To be honest, it just made me want to replay Diablo 3.
Played it on the weekend, my friends loved it.
I did not 😂
The gameplay wasn’t for me, I didn’t find it engaging.
My first and last Diablo 😂
But to everyone else have fun!
@Mega-Gazz
"Question is: PC or ps5?

I think the answer to your original question is PS5 if for nothing else then for the couch co-op. Plus it looked really good on PS5 and the interface worked pretty darn well.
Loved playing a chunk of it, classic Diablo game play. After I get it I’ll play like crazy for a few days then put it into daily rotation in order to reduce the strain on my fingers, lol.
The start of these games is always slow and feels like a chore. You don't really play diablo until you're like level 20 and got some decent equipment and abilities. That said I actually really like the cooldown on dodge as it makes the game more challenging because it makes me think twice about when to use it. Also, there's potential for other similar abilities to be used like a dodge such as the cauldrons ability which also slows enemies. That as a marksman rogue is a chef's kiss.
Downloaded. Started. Saw the 5+ hour queue.
Deleted. Played something else.
