Dynasty Warriors: Origins has been out for a full week now, giving us all plenty of time to rack up tens of thousands of kills — er, we mean KOs.
Yep, Koei Tecmo and Omega Force's hack and slash action series has returned with a bit of a bang. Origins received very positive reviews ahead of release — it's the highest rated Dynasty Warriors game yet — and it seems to have been a hit with many longtime fans of the franchise.
We liked this one a lot, as evidenced by our 8/10 Dynasty Warriors: Origins PS5 review. "In many ways, Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the series at its best," we wrote. "The gigantic, jaw-dropping battles, the tense wartime drama, the player-driven power trip — it's a thoroughly impressive return to form for a franchise that came so close to dismantling itself seven years ago."
But what review score would you give Dynasty Warriors: Origins? It's time to find out. Give it a rating in our poll, and then at least try to explain yourself in the comments section below.

Right now, I'm somewhere between a strong 7 and a light 8. I love the way the game is structured and the tweaks to combat are really fun, but the battles themselves range from too straightforward to too involved and rarely find a sweet spot. For a game that can render this many enemies on screen it's rare to get a KO cout in quadruple digits due to how quickly your moved from one officer to another. It's the same problem I had with Afe of Calamity; it wants so bad to get to the more involved fights, it rarely gives you a moment to mow down fodder which was always the main appeal of the series to me.
Im still pretty early in the game so we'll see how my opinion changes, but for right now, I think it's pretty good to great, but I'm not sure if it's amazing yet.
Absolutely loving this game—it's a brilliant blueprint for the future of DW titles.
Now, a niche detail I personally loved: the "Bromance of the Three Kingdoms" vibes. Almost every warrior seems either determined to keep The Wanderer or marry him after the war. Some of the max bond dialogue had me blushing, especially Lu Bu’s... less-than-subtle interest.
If there’s one downside, it’s that the mini-battles can get repetitive, and the medium skirmishes are too rare. But overall, this game is a return to the classic DW 1 v Many experience that I love with an added narrative depth, and I couldn’t be happier they released it.
Quality over quantity, and good Technical standards sets this over the recent crop of DW games imo.
I think it’s about time PS/PX let us click on the score and it brings up the users who are trolling with a 1 etc.
Never actually played a DW game, but was curious about this one. Do you need to have played previous titles before this?
So obvious that the 1 and 3 scores have come from people who haven't played it and just don't like the look of it. There is no way any objective scoring could be that low for it.
The only negative is the voice acting.
@Dyomun I wasn't going to rate the game low because I haven't played it, but then I read your post. Because of what you said, it gets a four. I hope you are happy.
@LikelySatan all you've actually done there is show yourself to be a child. Enjoy that sub-70 IQ.
@Dyomun ohhhh man, I was kidding! Not about voting for a low score, or about having not played it...but I don't actually hope you are happy.
Can you tell that THIS comment was sarcasm? Didn't do so hot on the last.
I'm kidding bud. It's games, chill out.
