Split Fiction, the latest co-op escapade from Hazelight, has been out for a couple of weeks now, and so we want to know what you think of it. Cast aside your potentially ruined relationships and take a moment to consider the game's overall quality!
This one was met with plenty of incredibly positive reviews — most of which seemed to agree that the title is a step up from 2021's It Takes Two. And that's high praise.
Indeed, our own Split Fiction PS5 review was absolutely glowing. We called it a "truly outstanding" co-op adventure, and the developer's "best game yet".
"This is proof, if more was needed, that Josef Fares and his team has found a really special formula, one that allows them to explore an incredible range of gameplay that's only enhanced by its singular co-op vision," is what we wrote. Split Fiction earned a ridiculously rare Push Square 10/10.
But what review score would you give Split Fiction? As always, give it a rating of your own in our poll, and then at least try to explain yourself in the comments section below.

A rare 10 indeed!
Wish this game would be playable in single player in some way. It looks great and the story seems fun. Not really into buying games that will be unplayable in the future and my wife doesn't like playing these games together.
Yeah, it's alright. Haven't completed it, yet, but I really haven't been as blown away as the reviews suggested. It's fun, and there's been some amusing parts, but the gameplay is also quite shallow at points, and the storyline really doesn't interest me much- though I'm certainly glad to be rid of a certain, obnoxious, talking book. I give it a 7. Not something I would usually pay full price for, but would've given a higher score if it were cheaper/ a ps plus game.
I'd give it a 7, and I say that as a massive fan of Hazelight. It's fun, but I think it's easily their weakest game to date. It Takes Two was leagues ahead of this in terms of gameplay and visual variety.
Since I've no friends, i'll never know 🤨😄
When the only real complaint is that we wanted more of it, it has to be a 10 for me. Finished off the platinum yesterday on this
@1UP-HUSKY I understand your sentiment but the entire point of the gameplay is cooperative puzzle solving. Or at least like half of the games content. If they made it single player they'd have to rework the mechanics of like, every stage. Also why is this game going to be unplayable in the future..?
There are real people voting Abysmal????
That only happens when a game is a console exclusive and the other platform's little haters come crying, or when the game kind of has some 'inclusion'. So it must be the later, small people that don't know that the franchise's previous games featured either 2 men or a mix (And nobody complained). Otherwise Abysmal makes no sense if you played the game.
Also, complaining about it not having single player is like complaining about Fifa/2k not having a battle royale mode....
Easy 10.
Pinnacle of coop games.
Me and me wife are having insane amounts of fun. Even better than It takes two
Finished it last weekend with my daughter. It's her favorite game now, and one of mine. Total 10. It's a roller coast ride from start to finish, and somehow even though you feel it peaks in almost every new section, it somehow keeps getting better and throwing completely creative and unique gameplay elements after you. I am just in awe.
@Diowine I totally agree with you, but sadly this is the internet culture these days. You could have someone like Mother Theresa alive today, trying to help and feed people, and she would be demonized on the internet every single day. Our culture is so stupid.
So far at least a 9. It's pure perfection.
10/10, definitely a serious GOTY contender!
Phenomenal game. It’s polished, it’s fun, it’s well presented and it’s a decent challenge at times. It’s ticking all of the boxes it needs to for me. Voted a 9 but could be a 10 by the time we finish it.
It's perfect. That would have been my entire review lol. Haven't had this much fun in quite some time with video game
Awesome game, no regrets spending money on it, but I still think A Way Out and It Takes Two were better. Those games made you rely on your partner more, and the mini-games were way more creative. Here, the side stories (the "minigames") felt kinda bland in comparison, and most of the time, you were just running through them together instead of really playing against each other.
That said, visually, Split Fiction is hands down the best, the unreal engine 5 really shows its power!
Fantastic game. My son and I are having a great time.
A 10 is ridiculous, given that the writing/story in general is pretty weak & there's a tonne of lazy tropes with the characters.
The fun factor though & how well it works mechanically make it a 9 for me.
@RBMango Insane because I thought it was by far their best game in terms of gameplay and variety specifically. Also It Takes Two is easily their weakest game imo.
I'd say Split Fiction is the best in every category besides story/ characters - and even then it's loses to A Way Out. Other than obvious stuff like higher visual fidelity than AWO, I wouldn't say ITT does literally anything better than the other two games
@WildFireV6 no game is perfect. Plenty of imperfect “10s” out there.
3% of people on here hate video games.
@Ultimapunch certain games with certain main characters always get some crazies.
Look. I’ve never played this game, and I probably never will. This goes out to the people that voted “abysmal” to this game, and every other game that has received a poll. A synonym of “abysmal” is “appalling”. This game (or any other game that’s received a poll on this website for that matter) appalls you? It’s horrifyingly bad? Just click “terrible” and stop being so dramatic. There. I said it.
This game looks amazing. I'll be getting at some point. Looks like a 9 or 10 to me
Circumstances have meant we’ve not had a chance to start yet. Definitely Wednesday night will be our first session
I found this to be the weakest game in comparison to A way out and It takes Two. It's much more challenging and has lots of going on, but at the same time the story just isn't doing it for me and gameplay feels stretched in certain chapters. Overall strong 8, but it lacks the charm other two games had.
@yohn777 unless you have someone to play it with you will be dependant on online servers staying up in the future to play the game.
I hope my daughter's will want to play this game in the future with me, as it looks great.
