It's been a week since the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PS5. The action adventure certainly seems to have struck a chord with gamers in general, although there is ongoing debate regarding the game's technical state, which is being improved bit by bit via updates.
There's something great at Survivor's core, though. We gave it an 'excellent' 9/10 in our Star Wars Jedi: Survivor PS5 review, summarising: "Star Wars Jedi: Survivor does what any successful sequel should do: it expands on the foundations of the first game and does everything better." We concluded: " Easily one of the best Star Wars games ever made, it hands 2023 yet another crowning highlight."
But as always, we want to know what review score you would give the latest blockbuster. Has Star Wars Jedi: Survivor given you a feel for the force? Or has it tempted you into turning to the dark side? Give the game a rating of your own, and then explain yourself in the comments section below.

All the people voting abysmal haven't played it simple as that
8.5 for me. Performance issues and JFO story is a little bit better. Also Survivor has characters that were severely under utilized.
I can’t vote in this poll because I don’t have the game yet. I’ll buy it once they patch it and mark it down to a reasonable price. $90 CAD for an unfinished game is ludicrous.
I'm probably about a third the way through. I'm really enjoying it. Best PS3 game I've played. 5/10.
Performance aside it's a 9/10 for me. Enjoyed it way more than I anticipated. I wasn't crazy about Fallen Order but Jedi Survivor really hooked me for some reason.
@ROTTIEMAN16 OR, maybe they are voting considering its technical state. Which absolutely SHOULD be consistently factored into every review.
Got to be honest - I haven’t really noticed a whole lot of performance issues, not on the level people are moaning about as though they’re absolutely wild. I also love the game
I’m 27 hours in and it’s an 8 for me. I’m enjoying the game a lot but the main story feels a bit underwhelming so far. I think it’s partly due to the switch to a more open-world style game. With these huge and complex maps to explore, it’s easy to get side-tracked and any urgency in the main story is lost.
I am enjoying the exploring though tbf (and will probably get 100% collectibles) but I think I preferred Fallen Order’s more linear approach. I thought the pacing in Fallen Order was much better (and the story was more exciting) whereas Jedi Survivor feels a bit more laid back, like it’s not in a hurry to go anywhere. I’ve enjoyed every minute, don’t get me wrong but I really expected more from the story. I haven’t finished it yet so the ending might be crazy good but that’s how I feel so far.
Are we talking about the game itself or the totality of the experience?
The game itself is easily an 8.5 to 9.0.
But because of the technical side of things I can’t in good conscious give it more than a 5.0 until it’s actually fixed.
How the game runs is just as critical to the overall experience as the gameplay and visuals. And this game runs bad on PS5. Especially the 60fps mode. Even VRR can’t save it.
Still too early to tell. Based on what I’ve played so far I’d give it a 7 or 8, but I have a long way to go.
Another 9 easy. I knew draining it was a bad idea 🤦♂️
Worlds, exploring, gameplay, story... all having tons of fun. Over 30hrs in, and really feel like a Jedi.
Playing on PC - so do not have the HDR issues. Did need to use the scaling on Nvidia control panel - FSR2.0 seems to do nothing on my 3080. After 10 hrs and 2nd update everything seemed to settle down.
Went from Burning Shores to Jedi Survivor... super happy camper right now
@Totheteeth same, I haven’t had any issues really on PS5. My game did crash one time after I’d exhausted all the conversations at the Cantina and I had to listen to all the conversations again (that was painful) but other than that it’s been fine.
@ROTTIEMAN16
The game gives a bad first impression with its framerate and the fact that performance mode is basically unusable.
Like so many games today there’s a brilliant game in there. But it’s hard to ignore just how bad this game runs. Its performance has to be factored into the equation.
So it’s a solid 5 for me right now. I played it, realized how bad it ran, returned it. I’ll pick it back up once it’s fixed.
Well, since I have't got any technical issues playing at resolution mode and widest FOV, a 9... including combat and story, much better than fallen order.
Before the latest patch I probably would have been an 8 but the game runs much better to the point I'm now at a 9. Really great game!
This sds like a great game,but can someone please tell me ,are the performance/graphics issues really an issue or has it been overhyped as we all know what the Internet is like ,I've still got to complete fallen order but would just like a few pushsquare views on this
@OrtadragoonX Thats exactly how it should be viewed too, even if the game design is good. I applaud your considerations.
Even if the performance mode ran well, its so heavily downgraded in terms of image quality; its just not great. The FSR 2 used here with extremely low native resolutions its trying to upscale on both graphics modes really tarnishes an otherwise great title. This and the PC side of things showing hardware isn't the issues, also speaks to just how unfinished the game was technically, and what they tried to do to push it out the door to make that release date.
We can't keep making excuses, justifying, or otherwise overlooking these issues if we want this growing trend of releasing full priced unfinished products to stop. There really isn't any other transaction for a good or service where we would be ok with this aside from perhaps the supplement industry or tax dollars.... lol
@Loamy
@ROTTIEMAN16
Agreed on that for sure. It should be a 4 or 5 based on it releasing technically unfinished. As its not unplayable and the game design itself looks to be great.
@KundaliniRising333 taking that into consideration a once 8-9 game is a 5-7 depending on your patience and your experience....certainly not a 1
I'm not rating a game that is technically, running on such an unstable performance level lol
@Loamy ,thanks for reply ,ok I probably wouldn't mind 30fps,yes does sound like a few patches still to get to where it needs to be ,ok by time I've finished fallen order it'll be in hopefully tip top shape performance wise looking forward to it:)
Star Wars Jedi Survivor is a fantastic 9 out of 10 game dragged down to an 8 (or possibly even a 7) because of its poor technical performance. It's no where near unplayable like how it is on PC, but it's still not great either. There's very frequent frame stuttering and screen tearing in performance mode, but technical issues aside this is a truly excellent sequel. It takes the already great foundation established in Jedi Fallen Order and expands on it to create something truly special. I agree with everyone else in that this (and Fallen Order) are the best pieces of Star Wars related content since before the Disney acquisition
@ROTTIEMAN16 50 people took the poll and 2 percent voted abysmal so it was literally just one person. Wouldn't worry about em!
@Relygon Hmm...I also wasn't crazy about Fallen Order (it felt like a Tomb Raider ripoff that didn't quite pull it off, to me). Any chance you can explain what worked this time, without spoilers? Or am I asking too much?
@Logonogo some people just want to watch the world burn 😂
Giving it a 9/10 though if i took its technical state into consideration it would be a 7/10.
Giving it a 9. Technical difficulties are a frustration and can be a bit distracting but they aren’t game breaking. I’m still having a hell of a lot of fun with it and that’s all I want from my games really!
All these people saying X.5, and I’m like, “just pick a whole number!” 🤣
I'd give it an 8. I'm not blown away by it, it's still rough around the edges in all the same ways it's predecessor was, and it feels like Respawn spent more time packing in more content than polishing the core gameplay. That said it's still leagues better than Fallen Order, and it has me excited for where the next game could go.
@KundaliniRising333 even considering the technical state, abysmal would be severely inauthentic unless you severely hate star wars. Reading your posts generally makes clear that fun and artistry take the backseat to technical perfection and being salty.
@ItsBritneyB_tch Oh the world has very much been burning long before we were born. Some people just want to pretend it isn't.
Doing so in favor of willful ignorance, gluttony, and other distractions of a predominantly selfish, predatory and rampantly individualistic minded state of our species.
@tameshiyaku lol i never stated abysmal was appropriate. Did you even read the entire thread of conversation on it? Or are you merely reacting to another "kunda" post that i must call out as negative merely because it doesn't align with my personal viewpoint.
Enjoying it on the 30fps mode and not had too many issues just some framerate drops when near or in water and one crash when fast travelling after the latest update.
@ROTTIEMAN16 also, it's a sequel... if you didn't like the first one that much or you didn't play it (both are fair enough) but why then click on this thread? People are just too much 😂😂
Must.. Hit.. Vote.
Need... To... Have... Opinion.
Can't... Resist... The Dark Side
@KundaliniRising333 what's another "kunda" post? 🤷
Anyways... I really don't want to bash your comments, and sorry if it came across that way. I just wish for more positivity and enjoyment in the gaming space. Of course it's absolutely legitimate to call out bad practices, still I think it's healthier to also focus on the fun part and never damn anybody or anything irredeemable.
Fantastic so far (on Shattered Moon) with no performance issues. Looks great, plays great. Movement and combat are so much smoother than the original.
10/10 for me. I haven't seen any glaring technical issue. I even play most in resolution mode and it runs very well. The combat is great, improving from JFO in every way. The game is beautiful, packed of content, Star Wars lore (I'm a buff for it), the story is full of great surprises. This is a contender for GOTY.
@tameshiyaku
I expect technical polish when they ask 70 dollars for a game.
It doesn’t need to be flawless. But I expect a stable framerate and for it to leverage the hardware it’s released on.
@RobN I think they've done a great job improving most aspects of the previous title in the sequel. The map isn't atrocious (still not perfect though), and they have added some nice navigation features. The side quests are, well, actual side quests unlike Fallen Order's.
Combat is better and more interesting thanks to more skills/perks/stances and better use of The Force. You spend more time fighting baddies than solving puzzles. I like a good puzzle but some of the puzzles in Fallen Order was notoriously hard to pull off and just ended up getting on my nerves. The puzzles are still a part of Jedi Survivor but they are far less frustrating.
Oh and traversal is a breeze!
I'm still on the 1st planet (although I believe I can leave it now) so I won't be giving it a score yet but so far I'm very impressed with the level design and the story seems full of good ideas.
My only complaint is the performance but I can live with that somehow. I had a bug once where my lightsabers would be invisible until I switched stances (but they still worked) but nothing worse than that.
Really everyone. Really!??!? I guess I am buying it this weekend. Even in videos talking about the performance issues I'm not seeing anything that egregious. And now that even the ever-critical gamer collective has said "excellent"...SOLD!
Gets a 5 for releasing too soon. I actively don't want to play this until the patches sort out the stuttering. Amazon inform me i have until 28th of May to return this.
Unless patched I will be returning and waiting for a very deep sale, or deliberately buy 2nd hand to deprive them of a sale.
@grapetrap Performance is not great. The dips are very noticeable. That really doesn't stop the game from being enjoyable though, it's just really good.
@Relygon Thanks, I appreciate a review from someone who wasn't in love with the last one. That sounds like it addresses my sense of a bad Tomb Raider clone quite well. I'm interested, though I have enough on my plate to wait for more patches and a sale.
5/10.
Performance gives this a significant score hit, but I think the story is less engaging and everything they added (extra stances, seed farm, bar you can recruit people to) is bloat
The two big IP franchises (This and Harry Potter) were both disappointing. I'm hoping Spiderman fairs better
8/10, only because the initial performance was super bad and the patch didn’t do much to fix it barring getting rid of most of the screen tearing. It’s a stellar game but I’ll be damned if I’m not sick and tired of being a paying tester.
@LordAinsley Agreed, although i wouldn't hold onto much hope for spiderman if its bloat you are worried about. The first one was so overstuffed with generic open world busy work, that I am still shocked to this day that it is revered as highly as it is.
@KundaliniRising333
I think I have a good impression in my head because miles morales is a tighter experience but yeah I think you're right, it's been a while since I played the first one
It's a 5 from me. Loved the first game, but the performance issues with this one are so bad that I've already punted it on eBay. Will pick up the inevitable 'Game Of The Year' edition at some point down the line when it's had its final patch.
Good 8 from me, definitely not as good as FO but that's a personal opinion. I think thats mostly due to the story, while I appreciate delving into different areas of the universe, I definitely preferred the story of the empires inquisitiors.
Simply my favourite Star Wars game of all time and a true disappointment at the same time from performance. But because the game is so good I’m tolerating the fps drops that aren’t too frequent any more after the latest patch. It really seems to be planet Koboh that has the worst issue and it’s weird but the further I’ve got through the story the better the performance, either that or I’m conditioned to the frame drops after 30 hours and simply don’t care about them anymore because the game is so gosh darn fun!
N/A, I haven't had the free time to start playing my copy yet.
A 9 for most.... common guys. Lächerlich
Not finished it yet,but thoroughly enjoying it,I dropped off the 1st game fairly quickly,but this one is an improvement in almost every way,screen tearing and frame drops are there,hopefully fixed soon,not bad enough to stop me playing it...
Loving it, I’ve spent about 6 hours on the first planet just wandering around, finding hidden stuff, and I’ve still only done 22% of it. You can definitely see where that 147GB went. It feels more like Skyrim in size
the small tech issues stop it from being 10 - weird animation glitches, has made the game look like it was going to be sucked in a black hole.
but its a 9/10 because much like spider-man 2018 made you feel like spider-man; this makes you feel like a rogue jedi exploring the universe.
I want to give it an 8 or 9 but the performance issues can't be ignored. So far I've had 2 crashes and the slow down has been awful. Very frustrating.
10/10 for me. Hear me out. These days I struggle to maintain interest in a game to even finish it and this one I want to 100%. I am close to the end, unlocked all traversal options and going through all the optional area and collectibles. That literally never happens. On top of that, they nailed the Star Wars feel and humour, voice acting is top notch and the story is interesting, could be better but I am happy with it. Performance issues almost don't bother me in the slightest. It's great, you should be playing it!
I would say at the current state it is in. It is a 7 (my vote). It can be an 8 after a few months of patches.
