Six months in, and 2023 has been great for games. But ever since the start of the year, we've been sitting here looking at the June release schedule and sweating. This is the month that includes Street Fighter 6, Diablo 4, an Final Fantasy XVI — in that order. These are three of the most anticipated PS5 titles to date (and possibly PS4, in the case of Street Fighter and Diablo), and they're all launching within about three weeks of one another.
Normally, just one of these games would be a big deal. Two would be a bombshell. But three? This has to be one of the strongest months in recent memory. Even if none of these titles are to your tastes, you must admit, it's a crazy spread.
The best part, though? We already know that Street Fighter 6 and Diablo 4 are bangers. Both games got 'excellent' 9/10 scores in our reviews, and we're hoping Final Fantasy XVI will follow that same trend.
And so we need to ask: which of the big three will you be playing? Dare you dive into all of them? Or is that simply overkill? Have your say in our polls, and then tell us all about your June plans in the comments section below.
Which of June's 'Big Three' will you be playing at launch? (Select up to three answers) (4,019 votes)
- Diablo 4
- Final Fantasy XVI
- Street Fighter 6
Is June 2023 one of the strongest months for PS5 yet? (2,913 votes)
- Yes, it's the strongest yet
- Yeah, it's up there
- Kind of, it's a good month
- Not really, it's nothing amazing
- No, I think it's weak

Happy that all three are (barring any unexpected FF16 disasters) amazing. All the devs and fans should be proud and satisfied.
However I can’t in good faith support anything put out by Activision and especially Blizzard. I won’t judge anyone who does buy it but it’s wild how all of their garbage practices and abuses got swept under the rug.
The Diablo 4 count down clock is killing me on my PS5.
Final Fantasy no contest for me never played a Diablo game so I'm waiting till it's on sale as I'm not sure I'll like it and have no interest in Street Fighter personally.
I'm counting down to the FF XVI demo! Cant wait for the full release, I took 5 days vacation for it.
FF16 will have to wait. I can only play one rpg at a time and right now TotK got that covered.
I'm skipping Diablo IV but I'm very much intrigued by SF6, though I've never played SF before.
I won't be playing any of them. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor was my last pre-order. I no longer pay attention to review scores either. I cancelled my pre-order for Final Fantasy. Ask me again in a year or two...
Just Final Fantasy XVI for me. Diablo doesn't appeal to me and I don't like Activision Blizzard in general. Street Fighter 6 looks great but fighting games also aren't for me. I'm a JRPG/open world/action adventure/platformer guy
It's an amazing summer for gaming in general.
Zelda is doing the business atm.
I have a 4 day weekend coming up where I'll be dividing my days between Zelda and Diablo.
FF XVI just a few weeks away.
Aveum is looking like fun too.
It feels like the good old PS1 days. I don't know where to look.
Although, I am getting a little anxious as these days I prefer to play one game at a time. Especially RPGs. I might put Diablo on hold while I finish off Zelda before FF gets here.
Seems like SF6 might fall behind til a later date, Diablo 4 and FF16 massive blockbusters will cast a shadow I'm sure
Not really into ff games but if I like the demo, I might pick it up.
None of these are for me but I hope they turn out to be something special for their fans and boy oh boy do they have a lot of fans. I'll gladly get SF6 in sales later down the road though. I just wanna see Spidey2 and Space Marine 2 release dates for this year
I'll be playing the amazing Days Gone, while thinking how Days Gone 2 could have been out had it not been for Sony's sudden infatuation with GaaSes.
TOTK has me absolutely hooked atm. Diablo IV might be next, we shall see. I’m potentially curious about FF but I’ll need to see reviews. I haven’t enjoyed an FF game in many, many years, but this one looks like it might shake up the formula enough to get me interested.
Diablo and FFXVI for me. Park Beyond as well if it reviews well. Then Trails into reverie, Everspace 2, Sea of Stars, Baldurs Gate 3.....gonna be a busy summer.
TOTK is taking up a lot of my time so FFXVI isn't a consideration for the moment but I do want to get back into fighting games, so Street Fighter 6 is a must play it seems
Zelda Totk released at the perfect time to keep me busy until FFXVI comes out.
I will eventually play SFVI because it seems to be really good.
No Diablo 4 for me, they're going to shove microtransactions after the review period is done and also I can't support a company that does what Actiblizzard does.
I'm holding off on FF16 for now. Wanting to play the demo.
For June, the only must have for me is the physical Sonic Origins Plus. Wanting to revisit those Game Gear games in HD regardless that I still have them on my actual Game Gear.
Without a shadow of a doubt, FFXVI. I do plan to pick up Diablo 4 whenever it goes on a good sale though. I'm trying to have Zelda keep me occupied but the closer we get to June 22, the more XVI stays living inside my head. Whatever game I'm playing, once it's out, is immediately getting dropped for it
Definitely FFXVI, SF6 will depend on cash flow for the month.
I’ll be sure to add Diablo 4 to my library and never download it when it comes to PS+ Extra, and if it doesn’t, well, I won’t be losing any sleep.
@Uncharted2007 at least you won’t need the screen magnifier to play them anymore.
That attachment, like the power adapter was necessary for Game Gear.
None of them. I have £12.
All 3 babeeeeeeeh
I will have all 3 but Diablo will be on my PC
@RonLonDonSwan I still have my magnifier. lol. It was the contrast that always got me. Being off just a little would potentially wash out half the color in the wrong lighting. Been wanting to do the McWIll screen mod on the thing but I can't justify $200 for it.
None. I am busy with Zelda and then next week I want to try Amnesia game. Then rest of the summer is about backlog for me. I hope to play Diablo and FF down the line sometime though.
SF6 for sure! I was never a fan of isometric games and I'll wait for reviews on FF16 (though I'm sure it'll be great).
Non of them are the games I would play. So, nothing for me, but I am sure for others it will be amazing month
Street fighter 6 and final fantasy 16, I'll wait for diablo 4 since I haven't played diablo 2 remaster yet, (bought it a couple of months ago 😅).
And yes, this june is the strongest ps5 month yet 😃
I have Diablo 4 & FF16 preordered.
Diablo IV on Series X and continuing TOTK on Switch. Gonna be a while for FF 16 (and hopefully after a price drop).
SF6 and FF16 for me.
There’s a lot of people around here who find a lot of reasons not to play this, that or the other.
Personally I won’t be playing any of these because I only play knitting simulators, hate most devs because of their demonisation in the media, won’t buy a game until it’s on a subscription I don’t subscribe to or it’s less than £3 in a sale and don’t have the time because I’m replaying Space Invaders on my Atari.
OH WAIT - I love new games and will probably get both Diablo and FF! How about THAT
Just diablo 4 for me. Not really interested in the other 2 but maybe someday I will try them.
Based on how huge TOTK is I am not sure I will be able to play anything except it all summer! When I play the game I constantly go off the beaten path to find new caves, wells, side quests etc. Some people may find it a grind and I understand but I am completely hooked. Back on topic if I had to choose it would probably Final Fantasy. I have never played any of the games before but it looks incredible. Between PS Plus, Switch, Game Pass and games that I have bought there is such a backlog. I am starting to realize though that even though I subscribe to all the services I normally end up playing the games I pay for. May have to ditch some services.
Other: Super Mega Baseball 4
Final Fantasy XVI. I won't be buying at launch, already got Jedi Survivor and must save some money for now, but in the future I will get it. A must-play for me, the game is shaping to be amazing.
I am looking forward to Street Fighter 6 and Diablo 4. Really liking Zelda: TOTK and Jedi Survivor ATM. Been a few months of good games coming finally. Not to crazy about the last couple games I have played from SquareEnix so FFXVI will be a wait (hopefully it's good).
I won’t be playing any of these at launch. I just don’t play any games at launch anymore, since they are either glitchy and/or feature incomplete, and at the highest price that they’ll be. I’ve got plenty of games in my backlog to tide me over til the Ultimate Edition discounts arrive.
My avatar probably gave it away but in case there was any doubt...
STREET FIGHTER 6!!!!!!!!
And FF16 as well. I'm not really into Diablo but maybe down the road sometime but SF6 is the main event of the year for me. So pumped for Friday!
There's a very miniscule chance that I play any of them in June or any time soon (working on backlog), but of the three, FFXVI is the one going on my wishlist for a later sale. I'm not a fighting game person, and I've never been able to get into the neverending looter cycle of Diablo and similar types of games. Plus, I know people are praising D4 for having a "dark and gritty" aesthetic but it just reminds me of the PS3 era of endless grey and brown (now with splashes of red!)
I will be playing the biggest release of the month: We Love Katamari Reroll!
FF16 and Loop 8 on my play list for June. After that I'll be working on my PS4 backlog until Starfield in September unless anything of note is coming out before then.
Would only play SF6 in the offline story mode so will prob pick this up on a sale later this year.
Nome of the above. FF and Diablo are not my cup of tea, and whilst I like Street Fighter, I suck at fighting games so I would rather wait until the end of its life to pick it up with as much content as possible.
@Deoxyr1bose I mean… Capcom and Square Enix aren’t clean either. It simply how the game industry works. All the sins of the past gets swept away the moment you release a good game.
Oddly, not one of these games interests me.
Not really a FF fan so Diablo 4 it is. FF7 remake was fun though so I might check out FF XVI at some point!
None. I'll still be playing Zelda.
Diablo 4 on Series X, but to have something to play on my PS5 i might give FF16 a try. I am not normally a fan of the FF series but since it is much different now and only 35 hours long for story. I am sure i will do 15-20 hours of side stuff i think it could be good. I won’t day 1 it cause of Diablo 4, but i will snag it at some point. SF6 i am unsure of, the single player roaming around a city thing looks dumb to me. I might wait to see what MK1 looks like.
Final fantasy XVI. I'll get SF6 in a sale at some point. Not sure about Diablo. Never played one of those before.
I’m having a hard time deciding between FF16 and Diablo 4. I’m only allowing myself to get one game for June.
In better times it would be SF6, but unfortunately my internet service started being a total wench a few weeks ago and it’s too unpredictable for online play now. So SF6 will have to wait until I either find a new provider (not many options out in rural southern US) or crap goes back to normal.
All 3 of 'em ! ...a great month for gaming ! I also bought Company of Heroes 3, TOTK, Age Of Wonders 4 ....all fantastic games.
Why oh why does work have to get in the way
@Uncharted2007 I do wish Sega would remember they have Master System versions of these games but I have this preordered for the Switch as it'll be nice to play them on the go again
I bought sf5 on release and got half a game and waited months for it to be updated. I'll play aliens dark descent at the end of June.
FFXVI is the only game I'll be playing in June so I have to wait 3 more weeks. I'm not good at fighting games so I didn't pre-order SF6 and I'm not a big ARPG fan so I skipped D4.
I'm getting FFXVI at launch.
But I think this is an ok month for PS5. These 3 releases are on somewhat different spectrums, but not all people are interested in the 3. I'm sure records will be broken but I've barely seen promotion for Diablo 4 and Street Fighter I think isn't as popular as it used to be. Even with it receiving great reviews.
The only thing that could pull me away from Tears of the Kingdom would be Pikmin 4 and Silksong.
The only Sony game I'm interested in is Humanity, but it will have to wait.
Here I am I've never played any of these games. I might give a go to Final Fantasy 16 as it looks more appealing to me than any other FF games. It looks a bit like a western rpg and I'm ok with that.
Turned my ps5 on today and my street fighter 6 done preloaded. Can not wait!
Diablo 4 to infinity and beyond...
I'll skip dia 4 but SF6 and FF16 are absolute major launch day buys for me
Picking up SF6 on Friday and going to a local tourney on Sunday. Might be the only retail game I buy launch day all year.
Already bought all 3, just need to find time to play them :/
Street Fighter baby
Idc about the other two at all tbh
There's a decent chance I'll buy FFXVI. The new Street Fighter looks cool, but fighting games are not my thing. Zero interest in Diablo.
In my case only SF6 on XBox. Can't wait. But never the less, it's a strong month. All 3 games are awesome for people who like them
FF XVI, probably (not pre-ordering it 'til after I've played the demo). No interest in fighting games and only ever played the first Diablo.
@TheKurgan maybe games aren't really your thing
Definitely ff16 and diablo. If I'm feeling casual I'll pick up sf6 as well. Really pumped for this month
Street Fighter and Final Fantasy like in the SNES summers of yore.
@ROBLIVION 🤣
Getting the Deluxe Editions (physical copies) of Street Fighter 6 and Final Fantasy XVI on day one.
None of em!
I got plenty of backlog games so no need to feel bad for me.
Definitely FF16 but probably not in June though. I still can't put down that game and I doubt I could in June... LOL
Final Fantasy 16 i think once I finish Zelda and Ragnarok
@Thenewguy I am more hyped for stellar blade tbh. Final Fantasy will be good but I can not see any character progression and deep mechanics now. I like that kind of things.
Where can I answer, “None of these”?
Oh… Right here!
Not in a huge rush to play any of them. Not because I'm not interested, just because I've got enough games on my plate. Final Fantasy is probably the one I'm most interested in, followed by Street Fighter.
@TheKurgan Yeap, I still struggle to understand how come Survivor got such high review scores in the state it was released (and it still is).
Strangely, I’m not interested in any of them.
My next big game will be AC: Mirage, then Spider-Man 2.
The next five months are looking pretty barren on the gaming front for me. Thank god for live service games - new season of Fortnite on 9th June and then there’s the new update for Dreamlight Valley in ‘early June’.
@ORO_ERICIUS always glad to see more people excited for Stellar Blade.
Diablo 4 and Spiderman 2 are my must have PlayStation games for 2023. They are worth a pre-order for me.
If the Activision deal wouldve gone through, as quick as ms wanted it too, would diablo 4 been pulled from ps ?
Holding off on buying anything. Maybe If I can get a good deal like when I traded in some games for $20 Zelda. Otherwise too pricey for me and I'm in no rush to play games that will likely need a few patches.
@Uncharted2007 Remember that god awful battery life? Had six Energizer rechargeable AA batteries that would take all day to charge and then die in an hour.
The trouble with D4 wete the levels given to us to play during the 3 weekends worth of server tests were very dull PLUS the game is online only which sucks and in truth I personally wanted the game to be more like Diablo 3. From what I've seen it's more like Diablo 2 ( boring). I've now read that the NDA was dropped on march 30th and the people who have had extended early access are saying it does play like D3 at end game. I'm not so sure. So for now D4 is well off the purchase list.
The new street fighter appears to be an RPG lite this time around so that might be worth looking at when it's going cheaper (£20).
The real champion of this month is FF16. It looks stunning,it's single player and you can be offline to play it. That's my game of interest this month. A day one purchase for me.
Street Figher II Turbo was the game that had us all with Nintendo’s back in 1991 which was very untypical for these shores but Final Fantasy IV was another
@KingPev
I like your comment about work getting in the way....never a more true word spoken.
I've preordered FF XVI Deluxe since day 1, not really interested in a glorified 1997 game, I've played it back in the day and was brilliant, but I'm not a nostalgia fan as well. As for SF6, not really a fan of button mashing. I rather preorder those with the Unreal Engine 5 such as Layers of Fear, Lords of the Fallen
Ff16 will takeover my life. Diablo can wait for that deep sale
ff16 and sf6 might try out d4 some day though.
Rachet & Clank: Rift Apart
@Thenewguy still doesn't have a date for when it's coming out.
Yeah... another fantastic month.
Diablo 4 (PC+SteamDeck)
FF16 (PS5)
50/50 chance I am going to get fired in Jun 😅 or use up all my sick days.
@Agramonte Use up the sick days, quit if you hate your job and you got a better job lined up.
"Street Fighter 6", baby! No contest.
With the Blizzard from maybe 15 years ago, I would be seriously hyped for "Diablo IV". But now, I have no faith that they won't reveal some absolute ***** practice with the game, last minute. I'm also of the kind that plays through the campaign once and be done with the game. So, I'll wait for a sale anyway.
"Final Fantasy XVI" has yet to fully convince me. But there's a strong possibility that it will finally get me, big time. But I can wait, since "Tears of the Kingdom" and SF6 will entertain me until "Armored Core" releases.
I’ll get Final Fantasy XVI, eventually.
I have to finish Tears of the Kingdom.
Then I have to get through The Devil In Me.
After that I have Callisto Protocol.
Then I may return to Redfall.

Street Fighter 6 and Final Fantasy 16 for me. Diablo 4 sounds like a great game, but just doesn't personally appeal to me.
Easily getting all three! Final Fantasy XVI is the one I am most excited for though.
TotK will come l keep me in going for a good few months at least. Good thing too, as I can save these games for later on at a discount.
This will be the first FF game I have played since SNES days. Looking forward to it!
I haven't played any of the SF beta so I have to catch up with my Ken/DJ. Will be putting in some hours before bed every night in ranked.
Will finish up Horizon FW by the time FF16 drops, and just rotate between FF and SF until Spiderman 2 later in the year.
None of them. 🤷♂️
None of the above. I think we're in for some "truth serum" reviews. I haven't bought into the hype of any of these games, despite the hype that has being pushed for them on here.
I only have enough money for one game unfortunately so it's going to be Final Fantasy XVI.
why oh why is “Still wading through my pile of shame” not a poll option 😅
FF16. Looks like a 90+ Metacritic exclusive to me.
Diablo4 for me, ill get FF16 after that id say as it looks excellent.
Definitely Final Fantasy 16!!, will play D4 also but it will go to the side straight when FF16 releases. then later Baldurs Gate 3!! great summer this
I can wait on all these. I just picked up H:FW on Amazon for £31, so have a replay of H:ZD on the patched-in ultra-hard NG+ difficulty ahead of me to remind me of the story, and the DLC to finish off on that, before I get into H:FW and Burning Shores.
Plus I'm waiting at least a year on Diablo 4 to see how the monetisation really pans out.
Plus plus Warhammer 40k 10th Edition launches this month and I am desperately trying to get my army painted up in time to play some games of that.
But yeah, it's a strong month for PS5 if you're into these games.
I will be playing Street Fighter 6 in between daily Tears of the Kingdom sessions I am excited to try the World Tour mode in SF6.
After I finish Tears i think i'm finally going to play Horizon Forbidden West.
Final Fantasy XVI that is if I'm still not playing Zelda.
If I had a PS5, then FF16 would get priority. Followed by Diablo. Definitely not SF6. Fortunately I have Zelda to keep me occupied for a while.
@Deoxyr1bose
If we boycotted every company that had a crappy billionaire running it we would have nothing to spend the few dollars they allow us to keep after exploiting our labor. Not saying we shouldn't vote with our wallets when it comes to this stuff I'm just saying that all billionaires are bad.
Street Fighter 6 for me.
Despite every sale, I've never played Diablo 3. So not sure I'll try this.
And not PS5 means no FFXVI.
Got D4 and FF16. Haven't bought a beat em up in years but if I was to buy one SF6 would come after MK1 and Tekken 8.
Got street fighter 6 on Monday as I know a guy who knows a guy 🤣😂
The other 2 games no as I can't stand RPG's
If though don't care for either I'd pick FF16 if I wanted to/had to pick one for that poll because it's the most interesting of the 3.
I mean other than Disgaea 7 (always enjoy these games),
Atari 50 (I have to still get around to),
Atlas Fallen (Darksiders 2 successor please),
Immortals of Aveum (a magic shooter like Hexen or even better than Legendary yes please we need more interesting takes on shooters than same old)
and Pikmin 4 (got my wants of new features in it) I don't care about anything else this year yet. Are there big games sure, do I care no, more power to those people getting some great games though.
I forget about the Katamari series I'll play one of those games eventually.
Even then got 20+ for retro consoles and 2022 and older games to still buy and experience of Klonoa 1&2, Pacman World Re-Pac, Valkyrie Elysium, Diofield Chronicle and even a few Cruis'n Blast/Tokyo Mirage Sessions/Astral Chain of older in there I'm busy enough in 2023 for games old and new.
I'll only be playing Final Fantasy XVI (a few months later in September). Definitely hyped!
I don't think there's been a stronger month yet, though October may change my mind.
Personally, I think 2023 has been pretty dire for games so far. Certainly not interested in any of these. Off the top of my head, I can't actually think of anything for the rest of this year that I'm particularly bothered about either. 🤷🏻♂️
At least 6DiF hits Steam early access later this month.
