Kunitsu Gami Previews

At this point we all know that Capcom is capable of creating incredible action games. In fact, based on recent experiences, it's undoubtedly one of the best in the business. And so this raises the question: why do people seem to be sleeping on Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess? Set to release just a month from now on the 19th July, it feels like this brand new IP from the legendary developer is slipping under the radar.

Okay, so it's not Monster Hunter or Devil May Cry or Dragon's Dogma, but it is Capcom — and impressions from a playable demo at Summer Game Fest have actually been really positive. Some are calling Kunitsu-Gami one of the best titles they played at Geoff Keighley's event, which is some serious praise. Others are simply convinced that Capcom has another banger on its hands.

We've gathered up a bunch of these previews below, including our own, which we published earlier this week.

Push Square

"Capcom's been doing such a brilliant job with its long-established franchises, but it's refreshing to see the publisher take a gamble on some brand new ideas, too. One such example is Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, something we've been intrigued by since its debut trailer last year. After getting some hands-on time with it, we can now say that its unusual blend of strategy and action works, and has a lot of potential."

Digital Trends

"While Monster Hunter Wilds might not be getting released until next year, Capcom still has another awesome-looking game releasing very soon. Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess impressed me with its Summer Game Fest 2024 trailer, and after going hands-on with the game, I’m even more in love."

Inverse

"After playing Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, it’s suddenly become one of my most anticipated games of the year: a fascinating fusion of tower defense game with a twist — wholly unlike anything you’ve ever seen from Capcom. It’s a sleeper hit in the making."

TechRadar

"Our experience suggests that Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess, with its mix of action, tower defense and real-time strategy elements, could potentially become one of Capcom’s next big franchises."

Windows Central

"When I showed up to the Capcom building at Summer Game Fest Play Days, my eyes were immediately drawn to the line of gaming stations set up for Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. I've been intensely interested in the game since the moment I first saw it, and I couldn't wait to play. When I went hands-on, I played for nearly an hour straight — until the staff told me I had run out of time and I realized I spent my entire demo period on a single game."
