That's another State of Play done and dusted, and boy are people unhappy. Going by our current poll (click through here to cast your own vote!), most Push Square readers thought it was pretty damn weak — although the 20-minute show did have quite a lot to it, with plenty of announcements and updates.
And so, with that in mind, we've put together this quite article with links to all of our coverage. Below, you can find a list of everything that was shown during Sony's latest State of Play broadcast.

Great State of Play!
Quite an interesting lineup. I can totally understand that this will not appeal to the majority of viewers but this sure is an interesting SOP and pretty unique selection of games
Wow, Valkyrie Profile is coming back? That’s great news! In fact, after browsing through the recap, seems like quite a few interesting titles were shown.I wonder if the folks dumping all over the SOP are the same people who go on about how Sony has abandoned Japanese developers. Seems like a Venn diagram just waiting to be plotted.
When I read the word 'Dino Crisis' I felt a rush of blood shoot to my brain and had an OMG moment.
...Until I clicked the link and discovered it's not actually Dino Crisis. My hopes and dreams came crashing down. There are no words yet invented for my disappointment.
TMNT is all I need from this
Meh.
Not much new.
Very much looking forward to Ghostwire: Tokyo. Unfortunately since I’m moving on the 30th it’ll probably have to wait a while.
Returnal Ascension and TMNT collection were the stands outs for me 👍
Is it just me or are all Squeenix games starting to look like the exact same games but with different graphics?
Capcom came close to Dino Crisis with the premise... dinos, red head, guns, portals... then it was two middle fingers to DC fans.
Ninja Turtles collection saved it.
Tokyo ghostwire still looks like the best game from this showcase. Can't wait for it.
I'm mostly looking forward to Returnal: Ascension and Valkyrie Elysium!
I thought it was a decent show, but the format really needs something exciting to close on. Like a “one more thing”-moment.
It is a bad PlayStation show when the best games will also launch on Switch. For TMNT even with an „unlimited“ physical release.
It was interesting and entertaining.
But it was a State of Play. If you expect something different it’s on you. 🤷🏼♂️
Stop listening to influencers. It’s been 2/3 years we’ve had State of Play. They are consistent.
Nothing that blew me away but I’ll keep an eye on
For 20 mins that is enough
Can't say anything particularly inspired me. Kinda looking forward to Forspoken, but don't know if I want to invest just yet.
oh well, there goes my hope for a good singleplayer game ... pufff...and it's gone
Returnal co-op sounds like an interesting proposition but TMNT is the only title worth a look? Kind of poor Sony, kind of poor...
Loved it.
Trek to yomi made me punch the air in joy it looks so excellent!
Lots of really interesting titles, and many of them landing this year.
Its going to be a very expensive year for me.
@Ashina Hehe, I think you're right. Nothing but maybe the Returnal news really speaks to me, but I'm glad if the other announcements excite other people!
@CupidStunt So the opposite of what you said then...
@CupidStunt
SE are starting to remind me of Game Dev Story, where you’d become proficient in one genre and just pump out the same formula over and over again.
I think the quality of Nintendo Directs have raised the bar of what people expect from presentations like this but just by looking at the announcements in this article, it doesn't seem to me like it was that bad in terms of the amount of stuff, it just didn't have stuff most people wanted.
Forspoken looked significantly better. Pre ordered Ghost Wire ages ago as a fan of this Dev teams work.
Samurai game looks great....even better than s previous trailer I watched.
Returnal coop could ignite me to try and play again?. Loved the game but too punishing for me and my gaming time available these days...
Not interested in the online focused games...
Wow, Returnal co’op and new DLC, love it 😍
I got the platinum however my friend who I lent the game to liked the game however found it to hard so when she found out about the co’op, she was straight on the blower to me wanting to buy her own version. We can now play together and will now be able to help her through to see the whole story. 😃 happy days, thank you to Sony and the Returnal’s amazing development team🤩
Nice... So my list went up by 2 games. And all in 2022, keep them coming!
I'm surprised so many PlayStation fans found it weak. I suppose there was nothing groundbreaking, but I thought it was a solid showing all around. As someone who has been following the Nintendo Direct hype train for years, sometimes it's just nice to have a decent show with a few neat surprises and updates.
Maybe there's the worry that Sony doesn't have much else to show. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if Sony managed to delay the COVID effect on game development for PS5's first year, and is now in the midst of it. Nintendo and Microsoft didn't have much last year, and now it's Sony's turn. But, ya know, that's okay. Horizon and God of War alone make this a decent year for PlayStation.
Or maybe they'll have another State of Play out soon detailing holiday 2022. Although, unlike Nintendo, I don't think it's Sony's MO to announce and release a game the same year.
I thought State of play was pretty cool! Ghostwire Tokyo an Forspoken look fantastic, GigaBash looks to me like a PS5 version of SNK’s King of Monsters. Trek to Yomi looks great, will be interesting to see if it can better Ghost of Tsushima, they look similar. The Dinosaur game at the beginning looks great. Then there’s the turtles games. Is that like every version of Teenage Mutant Ninja video games ever released? Look on the bright side, you could be an Xbox fanboy. Only games i’m hyped for on Xbox are Starfield an Hellblade 2. We’ve seen nothing of Starfield, just drawings an hype an Hellblade looks great but we’ll av to see if Xbox devs pull it off.
In retrospect the games featured at the event wasn't that bad, so it is hard to pinpoint what exactly went wrong. Maybe they could had arranged the order of the games better, placing Forspoken at first position instead of that dinosaur game.
It makes ZERO sense for Sony to reveal it's cards too much. 2022 is already stacked with games and with Playstation still outselling Xbox, I think they believe it's best to hold onto it's Ace's. Not a ton for me on this one, but with so many games to play right now, that's just fine. No secret passage, but Praise the Message.
Exoprimal looks interesting but I still have no clue why Capcom did not call it Dino Crisis. It's literally one.
Missed opportunity to bring back badass gal Regina imo.
Edit: That said, I hope this is as much like Lost Planet 2 as possible.
Looks good, it's not bad. Definitely not worth ***** on.
Not great, not bad! I'm pretty much waiting for the announcement of the new Diablo..
@vyseofhr And they bastardise all their franchises too.
Maybe the next SOP will have some good games?
