Poor old Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok, eh? Ubisoft's ridiculously big open world got a new expansion this week, but it's got a tough act to follow: Elden Ring, Gran Turismo 7, and Horizon Forbidden West are all still in our rotation. Ouch.
Sammy Barker, Editor
I've somehow invested an unfathomable number of hours into Elden Ring achieving very little at all. I just finished the Academy of Raya Lucaria location. I'm practically still at the start, aren't I?
Robert Ramsey, Deputy Editor
After a week or so of playing through the solid but slightly bland Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok, I'm going back to Cyberpunk 2077 this weekend to finish things off — and I'm honestly looking forward to it. This isn't the genre-defining RPG that everyone wanted, but I do think the PS5 version is in a great place. Loads of fun with the right expectations!

Hooray for seeing Liverpool's Liver Building's clock on the big screen, because The Batman is my favourite film since Blade Runner 2049. Nirvana's Something in the Way as a soundtrack to a rainy Gotham Halloween leaves me eager to replay Batman: Arkham Knight, and reread Push Square's Best Batman Games feature.
What are you playing this weekend, then? What are you digging into, and what's keeping you busy? As always, let us know in the comments section below.

Elden Ring of course
Off topic but had a meeting at work the other day.
Current state of semiconductor and now also raw materials shortages around the world.
We were wondering when or if governments will start directing the raw materials and semiconductors to more essential items only. Not entertainment devices.
Especially medical equipment, transport, white goods and military only.
This could really get a lot worse for the entertainment industry and supplies of consoles, TVs, amplifiers etc etc.
It is a valid concern on the raw material market.
Continuing tokyo mirage sessions #FE encore on the switch and after a few years of wanting to play it I finally started playing folklore on the ps3.
Also a bit of muse dash on the switch here and there
No XSX or ps5 this weekend.
Elden Ring still, over 70 hours in now. Safe to say its probably my favourite game on PS5. Just incredible.
Horizon Forbidden West, Babylons Fall and Atelier Sophie 2 on playstation 5 and just completed pokemon legends on switch but now got a lot of after story to do.
Just done downloading cyberpunk 2077 trial, can't wait to try it this night 😃
Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons
Elden Ring ...Still. I'll be playing this for years I think, with different runs, different classes and different approaches. A masterpiece
Gran Turismo 7...the best it's been in years, more addictive than cake !
I caved in and bought WWE 2K22 ...need a good wrestling game in my life lol rather than wrestling with the wife and daughters
Must . Stop. Buying. Games!!
Have a great weekend guys ❤️
I'm still going through Horizon Forbidden West and loving every second of it. I had hoped to be on Elden Ring by now but I'm determined not to rush HFW.
I've also put an ungodly amount of time into Lost Ark with a group of friends aaaand I'm onto my last two combat jobs in FFXIV, I'll have everything at 90 before patch 6.1 hits.
Finally, I gave the new Stranger of Paradise demo a whirl and... it certainly is A Video Game, it's something I'll pick up when it's a fiver or something.
@UltimateOtaku91 you're playing Babylons Fall ? So you're that person ?? 🤣🤣
@KingPev dont get me wrong it's a bad game but since I haven't paid for it (rented it) I thought I'd stick with it just for the campaign then send it back, but I'm having difficulty finding people to join my missions and its quite difficult to do solo, so it might be sent back early
HFW & GT7, Gran Turismo was supposed to break up my long Horizon sessions but it has mostly been HFW breaking up long GT7 sessions!!
Mostly gt7 and horizon for me this weekend, do want to get elden ring but i need to at least finish horizon first. Enjoying both of these so far and from wgat ive heard elden ring is amazing so cant wit to give it a go in a month or so.
Elden Ring - 45 hours in. Last week it was approaching my Top 5 of all times. This week I'm thinking it might reach Number 1.
Yokai Watch 3 Tempura 3DS
SWITCH
Pokemon Legends: Arceus - this has to be the best Pokemon game I've ever played! I'm on the third area now and I'm just loving it!
The Binding of Isaac: Repentance - still trying to cross off some of the challenges, some of them are really hard lol
PC
Not much on PC this weekend except for the usual Gmod/GTA Online shenanigans with friends!
Have a good weekend everyone.
Just beat the main story so I’m sweeping up some Kena: Bridge of Spirits collectibles. Combat was a little more difficult against some bosses than I expected. So, I don’t know if I want to go to Master mode yet. I might try HFW, continue towards my FFX platinum or work on my backlog. So many games but so little time 😭😭 Have fun, gamers😎😎
Continuing my adventure in HFW, hoping to clear up most of the camp locations today and upgrading my gear before heading into the rest of the story.
Elden Ring. My time is mostly spent spamming messages in the hope of receiving free healing.
Still trying to get to the end of Dark Souls 2 (on the last DLC now before I tackle the end game) before I love onto Horizon Forbidden West, and then finally into Elden Ring after that
Got to tackle my backlog before I start Elden Ring so Deaths Door for me and I’m really enjoying it.Decided to try a full platinum run so I’m only using the umbrella, just beat the pot witch this morning
COD Vanguard PS5, Gran Turismo 7 PS5, Resident Evil 3 Remake PS4.
GT7. on menu 25 now. Lots of mixed feelings about the game. So many things it nails but imo theres alot of thinks they could have and should have implemented in the game that even older games like Project cars and Assetto bring to the table that would have made GT so much better.
Horizon fw, cities skyline and maybe I’ll play something on the switch.
52hrs in Horizon Forbidden West, 47hrs in Elden Ring. We really need to put the spotlight on Horizon's uniqueness y'know. They've gone further with the outfits, machine design in HFW, you can't find that any other game. I realized Kotallo sounded like Charles Smith of RDR2, found out it's the same voice actor, fits so perfectly. As for ER, just gotta say WHAT.A.WORLD... you just keep discovering and discovering. I just love how the different areas have personality, from Stormhill to Mistwood to a bluish misty marshland to caves to dungeons...Hope Ubisoft take notes from RDR2, HFW and ER in world design.
This weekend I will work until sunday midday, so, I won't play too much. i started Assassin's Creed III Remastered 2 days ago, and it's so good as I remembered, so I will play it more when I arrive. For other games, I will see when the time comes.
Still playing Elden Ring, but I'm starting to get annoyed by the game, since it's never entirely clear where you're supposed to go. I beat a Boss, oh a blue aura gateway blocks me from going forward, well okay, now that I'm stronger I'll take on that one area, fight the boss, and... another blue aura gateway!?
Seriously I honestly have no idea where to go from here, it's never clear, and there's rarely any indication how to progress, it's starting to make me want to put the game down and play something else.
@JustPlainLoco have you stood infront of the blue aura and clicked the prompt to interact with it?
I'm finishing Horizon Forbidden West and that's it for this weekend.
GT7. I’ve always thought racing games were a bit naff, until GT7.
The way the game is presented is really quite genius. Rather than it being race after race after race (which is what I assumed it would be), it’s actually way more interesting and varied than that. The Menu Books, which act as mini challenges (collect 3 vehicles by placing top 3 in 3 different races) are a brilliant idea and prevent the game from feeling overwhelming for newcomers (like myself) by adding easily attainable goals.
There’s so much more to it than I expected. There’s the test centre, where you can complete various challenges and earn new licenses. The Used car centre, where you can buy cars with the money you earn from races. The Tuning centre, where you can upgrade your cars. The Cafe, where you can learn all kinds of interesting facts about the vehicles you’ve unlocked. Plus, loads of other features which I haven’t even tried yet.
I also love that there is a daily target (driving 26 miles), which rewards you with a raffle ticket to win random prizes (in-game credits, vehicles, tuning parts etc.). Overall, I’m just blown away and it’s completely changed the way I view racing games.
Going through my ridiculous backlog of games. Currently playing the Crysis remastered trilogy. Just into the 1st game. Graphics are nice for a 14 year old game. But everything else is off, shooting, enemy ai. Terrible dialogue also. There’s also a lot of being alerted by enemy’s before you can even see them-even tho I’ve tried doing some levels with stealth. Just going in guns blazing now.Love the physics of the game, sweet destruction of the building etc. Not really liking the game so far tho.
Playing Everybody’s Golf VR, Beat Saber, Racket Fury, and might have a go of Kingdom's of Amular. On a bit of a VR stint at the minute though.
Gran Turismo 7, totally hooked on it!
Horizon Forbidden West, Dying Light 2, Far Cry 6. Interested in Ghostwire Tokyo but need to see reviews first and might grab Elden Ring at some point.
Edit. Stranger In Paradise demo which dropped after state of play. Played about 30 mins so far. Will be interesting to see how this game reviews
I could lie and say I'm gonna finish Cyberpunk like I said last weekend but what's the point, I'll be on GT7 for most of my free time this weekend.
Gran Turismo 7 and Horizon Forbidden West. Both are absolutely amazing.
Horizon FW, Elden Ring and a bit of GT7.
I'm trying to get the last trophy (Insanity run) to Platinum the original Mass Effect 2 on PS3 before jumping to Legendary Edition.
Horizon Forbidden West, Elden Ring and OlliOlli World. I feel inexorably drawn back to Elden Ring despite dying rather quickly if I go too far in any direction, into any cave or castle. I'm going to look up how to level up early on so I can bring a bit more beef to my battles and not be so damn terrified of exploring. Having a great time of it, though! Happy weekend all and happy gaming!
@darkswabber Is Folklore good? Is practically impossible to get here (dunno about where you live) so I've always been curious.
Finally done with Elden Ring so it’s time for something new.
PS5: Ghostrunner and Stranger in Paradise demo.
XBSX: Shadow Warrior 3 and finish up some side content in Dying Light 2.
Still playing Horizon Forbidden West. I'm almost at the end of the story so I'm cleaning up the rest of the trophies so I unlock the platinum when I beat the game.
Dying Light 2: Stay Human!
Not too sure. I finally got an email from Sony to buy a PS5 this week which I did, it arrived on Wednesday so I'll probably have a look at Miles Morales and some of the stuff I've stockpiled through PS Plus.
Oh yeah and more Elden Ring (Series X). Have a good weekend all!
Immortals fenyx rising
@Lup it’s really good so far. Also surprisingly beautiful for a 1st year ps3 game. And yeah it’s hard to get everywhere, metal jesus calling it a hidden gem 7 years ago already made it hard to find and when the news dropped that the ps3 store would shut down it became practically impossible.
Luckily I bought it in 2015 for cheap at CeX.
GT7 and Cyberpunk 2077 (3rd playthrough)
Stranger of Paradise. My beautiful wife pre-ordered it for my birthday, and I have just started the demo. It’s… a bit weird. But I love FF and Nioh, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. But Frank Sinatra? And was that in game? Did Jack listen to it? Does Frank Sinatra exist in their world? So many questions!
Elden ring..could well be my fave game on the ps5 so far..its stunning..
Exploring the Lands Between… star systems in Mass Effect. 😜
@Bigtuna515 - Yes and most times it's some cryptic message that barely counts as a clue, then there are others that want me to 'kill 3 wise beast' referring to those transparent turtles and then there are others with a sigil but no prompt,
@colonelkilgore Seriously, what else?
last night I started Stranger of Paradise demo. Terrible. visuals, animations, gameplay, characters... and it runs really aweful on ps4 (slim). the performance mode does not maintain 60 fps and severely lowers the resolution. lots of meaningless loot, unlikeable characters. weightless combat.
what is Square after with this game? they will be disapointed by the reviews and selling numbers. (anyone remembers Left Alive?)
I'm over 100 hours in to the Forbidden West, and I still haven't reached the far western side of the map.
So that's what I'll be doing today.
@CthulhuFhtagn Been wondering this myself. It feels like they're pushing hard in to the action RPG scene, maybe trying to ride some of that FromSoftware hype.
I'll give Stranger of Paradise a go, but I'll be putting it on Easy and just breezing through.
Finished Horizon a couple days ago now finally my Astrologer can roam the lands between undistracted. Oh look MLB the show 21 is on sale for $9.99......damnit!
@Anansi4933 yup
Nioh 2 with all the dlcs. One of the best games ever made.darkest dungeon best indie games ever next to streets of rage 4. Manhunt .rockstar controversial masterpiece.and arcade legendary classics capcom beat' em up bundle.watching dont breathe 2 movie.whats happening.good times.sanford and sons.saved by the bell.and martin.word up son
YAKUZA 6. Y'all know how long this game can take to beat...more mystery is building after my visit to Hiroshima and Kamurocho is once again in the center of it all (of course).
Finally beat Elden Ring, clocking in about 110 Hours. It is going to be interesting to see the percentage of people who beat Elden Ring in the long term because man, the last boss and the finale optional boss are the two hardest bosses in all of souls mainly because of one reason, they each have at least one attack that is literally undodgeable for 99% of players, unless you get super lucky or are a speed runner. This brings me to my major gripe of this game, so many enemies have SUPER LONG combos and getting hit by any part of the attack will stun lock you to death even on my level 160 character with the strongest armour and over 60 points of vigor, giving me about 1800 health. There are just so many BS attacks in this game and some would say git gud, but I will say I beat Sword Saint Ishin in Sekiro and never did I think any of his attacks were actually unfair, there were always specific counters for all of his moves.
My other main problem with the game is the literal requirement of spirit summons if you wish to fell many of the bosses within this game. There are ALOT of multi boss fights, which you NEED spirit summons just so you can have a tiny bit of breathing room, unless you want to be stunlocked to death repeatedly. Once you get the Mimic Tear spirit summon, which summons a replica of your character, it trivialises every single boss encounter in the game, which meant I'd 1st or second try basically every single boss the game. UNTIL, the last optional and last main boss in the game, where the Mimic Tear will die by the time the second half of the fight begins, in which case you are screwed because so many of their attacks have massive aoe's that spam across half of the arena and that goes back to what I mentioned earlier where they each have attacks that are nigh impossible to dodge. Both these bosses took over 30 attempts each and I got extremely lucky on the final boss. So the main issue was that the game made me over reliant on mimic tear, and if I didn't use it at all, I'd be seriously hindering my progression with the game. I'm not a masochist and was not willing to spend another 50+ hours bashing my head against unnecessary walls in this otherwise masterpiece of the game.
Finally, the game goes with the Dark Souls 2 formula where there are a lot of repeat bosses, I know it is an open world game, but still, I think I killed at least 20 of those giant worm things and stone watchdogs.
If all reviewers actually got more than one week to play this game and actually beat this game, I don't think it would have got a 97 on metacritic because there are some over glaring issues with the game. This is overall the best Souls game, but Sekiro is still my favourite From game because it is a tailored experience where they want you to play in a particular way which I prefer over the 1 million ways you can play in Elden Ring, that isn't a knock to that style, I think it is amazing, it's just my preference. I don't think I will ever find myself coming back to this game unless DLC is added in the future, I'm generally a one and done guy with From games once I beat all the bosses like I have, that and it's a 100 + hour game, so you can't casually play through a game of this size again. This won't go in my personal top 5 games of all time, as the games I return to have a cosy feel in their worlds, like Yakuza or Monster Hunter, in Elden Ring everything is bleak, depressing, and trying to kill you, I just like happy worlds. Good gaming everyone, and give yourself a pat on the back if you read this entire message😊😊😊
Forbidden West and Demon Souls. The former continues to amaze me. The latter continues to amaze and frustrate at the same time 🙂
75 hours into Horizon Forbidden West and while I'm pretty sure there's only one main mission left, the statistics screen says I'm only 70% complete - still plenty of side-content I don't want to miss out on before I put the game down and wait for the DLC.
Edit: I'm not unconvinced at this rate that I will eventually have enough points to upgrade everything. I currently have everything except the skills for two weapons I don't really use, and a load of valor surges. I've figured out I'd need to spend 101 more points to finish everything, and there are plenty of side quests and errands waiting to be finished.
Think im gonna switch it up and play...nah nevermind still Elden Ring.
I'm totally hooked on GT7. Polyphony Digital did so many thinks right with this game. In between races, I'm playing Horizon Forbidden West and the PS5 version of Cyberpunk. I got the platinum on PS4, and I'm doing it again on PS5. Still one of my favourite games of all time, I kid you not.
I also have Elden Ring sitting on my shelf, but that will have to wait. So many great games!
Elden Ring ( repeat till end of year at the slow raate im going)
will dive into the new Returnal mode when that releases.
The February/March holy trinity. Forbidden West about 20 hours in, Elden Ring 30 hours in and GT7 which I just started. Those pesky license tests have me obsessed with chasing gold! Game on everyone!
@Fill3rup_ I cannot explain how stoked I am to climb the tower in Returnal. 80 hours later they’re pulling me back in.
@colonelkilgore
Indeed
85hrs in myself, still loving it. Recently beat General Radahn, what a cool boss fight.
@Shepherd_Tallon you're right, that FromSoft hype is real. Nioh was much better than this game (though I didn't really like). even that aweful Code Vein felt better.
You know, it's no big deal and I shouldn't care. there's a lot of games out this year already and by the end of the year no one would even remember Stranger of Paradise. it just breaks my heart to see "Final Fantasy" in the title
Finally have some time to work on Horizon (28 Hours) and GT7 (8 Hours) at the moment. Just redownloaded Returnal ahead of the expansion that’s releasing on the 22nd too so I may play that to reacquaint myself with the mechanics. So much to play, so little time 😞😞😞
Horizon Forbidden West once again for the foreseeable future. Since I am going to have some extra time this weekend than I originally planned, I might finally try the Final Fantasy Origin demo for a little while at some point today as well.
Finishing up Spider-Man Remastered this weekend. Are the DLCs fun/worth playing? Are they actual stories or just more stuff to do?
@GorosBat I’m typically the same with FS games. Except I put over 100 hours in BB playing it twice and the chalice dungeons and DLC. I think Elden Ring would be nice to revisit a second time if I ever finish it with a guide to speed up the process.
@everynowandben
More of the same.. But good enough.
Elden Ring and Gran Turismo 7. Maybe if some friends are up for it I'll play the Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin demo.
@JustPlainLoco you need the academy gate key. It’s to the west of the building in the lake area. There’s some ruins if I recall.
@BrotherFilmriss just the 20 he’s in myself as only started it on Tuesday… but yeah it’s incredible.
I'm also on the Batman train hard after seeing the new film twice so far (and being a scouser, immense to see the landmarks I pass by every day in Gotham of all places), so replaying Arkham Asylum for a bit, at least until Hades and Horizon Forbidden West pull me back.
Hellblade VR - this seems like an amazing experience in VR and proves that 3rd person action games can work really well in virtual reality. You can feel the scale of the world and be immersed in quite another way than on flatscreen.
Unfortunately my PC is too weak to do it justice, even on the lowest setting. I will return to it whenever I get a more powerful PC in the future.
It would have been a great launch title for PSVR 2 as well, but I guess that's off the table since Microsoft bought Ninja Theory.
@CthulhuFhtagn Yeah I get you.
When I first heard rumours of a Final Fantasy game influenced by the souls genre I had high hopes, because I love both, but I came away from the first demo feeling very empty.
They're pushing this game hard, but I think if they want to go down this route with future Final Fantasy spin-offs they're going to have to figure out the formula first.
Mahjong by Microsoft (Android) - Closing in on my final gold medal needed for the achievement.
Dragon Mania Legends (Windows Phone) - Still plodding along with this.
Ridiculous Marathon (Windows Phone) - I think I'm nearly done with this now.
King of Fighters 15
@BritneyfR_ee I agree, it is really well set out, the activities aren't repetitive at all, love the Menu Books but I really don'y like the raffle ticket reward for hitting your daily mileage. In GT Sport you got a guaranteed car which I prefer, that said I did get the New Nissan Z last night which was nice!
The Dual Sense works superb too, great feedback.
Trying to focus on Horizon Forbidden West now that I've completed the new Destiny 2 raid - what a ride that is. Exceptional game design. 40 hours in to HFW and just ran my first cauldron
However Gran Turismo 7 keeps winking at me and its 'just one more race' hook will pull me in at some point over the weekend I'm sure.
Not installing Elden Ring until that HFW platinum is mine. Maybe.
@Kidfunkadelic83 Currently stuck on the Clubman Cup Plus, menu 10 - keep coming second by 6/10 of a second on the High Speed Ring and it is doing my head in! Love the game so far though.
If I get time I'm continuing HFW. Amazing game!! My friends want me to give Stranger of Paradise demo a try so I might if time permits.
GT7, until my left thumb can't take any more.
Finishing up some side missions in Horizon and then going to complete Ghost of Tsushima! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!
@mrtennis1990 Oh man you reminded me that I need to get the Iki island expansion! Love GoT so much, cant wait to go back into that world... if I ever finish Forbidden West
@Kidfunkadelic83 I'm 3 hours in and I've been enjoying it so far, haven't dug too far in but I'm loving all the cafe missions that digs into the history of cars. I got it and Elden Ring at the same time, which I need to play more because I only got an hour in and the game looks amazing. I've lost motivation to play Horizon Forbidden West because of these two games.
This little game called Elden Ring. It’s pretty good. Might be a sleeper hit.
I finished Horizon Forbidden West yesterday afternoon. It was a fantastic game. Now on to Elden Ring.
Without going into spoilers, I got one of three main objects in Forbidden West last night. Now I'm continuing some side quests.
Elden ring. I cleared one of the underground areas and it was a pretty big chunk. I thought the overworld was already massive but apparently there's a lot more places underground to explore too
And I might try to get into the strangers of paradise demo again. It felt a little awkward to play but that's just cause I've gotten so used to elden rings completely different layout. When I got a bit more comfortable, it felt like I was playing nioh. And that's only a great thing
GT7 for me along with some Atelier Sophie as well. Oh, and when no one is looking I’ll be sneaking in some Glass Hime to Kagami no Juusha.
@darkswabber Folklore! What a beautiful game that was. Great character design and battle mechanics too. It’s a shame it never broke through sales-wise as I’d love to see more of that world.
Dying Light 2. Putting Elden Ring on hold for a few days, this is really picking up
GT7 for PS5 has taken over my game time. And will pretty much be a staple game for the rest of the year and beyond. But when I need a break I’m still trying to work my way through the latter parts of Days Gone on PS5. I keep being surprised at how much I enjoy this game. It’s just sad that Sony sent it out to die and we will never get a sequel. Have a great weekend everyone!
INFERNAX and gt7
It's all about the apex. Taking down apex machines in Horizon Forbidden West and taking the perfect apex in Gran Turismo 7. Also some more Cyberpunk 2077 and checking out Guardians Of The Galaxy on Game Pass.
HFW mostly it is just so dam good and some Elden Ring but this game needs a dam frame rate patch asap !
@Amnesiac I’m sure it’ll get a BC version when project spartacus launches since the game is a sony IP and was made by sony japan studios.
But since it was made by SJS I doubt we’ll ever get a sequel, remake or proper remaster.
1. Elden Ring
2. Horizon
3. GT
Almost done with H:FW. Dawn of Ragnarok takes its place
Elden Ring. There’s just always another cave or catacomb to clear, somebody stop me. Me and my Wolfpack are looking HUGE though, god damn.
@GorosBat ...a great post ! Well written
@Fragile Lol I watched a lot of gameplay videos of GT7 prior to release and just felt it's just what Sport is now after all the updates and DLC since 2017. So I'm fine sticking with Sport.
Horizon Forbidden West of course 😍😍😍
Exploring new lands With ALOY
@everynowandben they are good, worthy follow up, the stories are valid.
@Sam_ATLUS im the same. Orob put about 10 hours in to HFW and 15 in to ER but now all im playing is GT7. Dont get me wrong, its a very, very good raving game. Just a few issues ive come across that i really wish they had thought about a bit better.
@Marquez feel free to add me and i will see if i can help you out. If your upgrading cars first thing i would go for is tyres and brakes without a doubt.
@BrotherFilmriss just scrolling through the comment section and noticed that you're rockin' a Commander Keen icon. kudos to you! lots of fun memories playin' that game. have a good time playin' video games!
Just got the platinum on Elden ring. Finally something to surpass bloodborne and it’s also become one of my favourite games of all time. Will deffo do a second run later in the year.
Starting up AI the somnium files have heard good things
Started over in Elden Ring last night since I’d felt it was the right thing to do, having put the game off for Horizon and having started another character a few weeks ago. As someone that has traditionally disliked Souls games, I do have to admit that the game is special in a really unique way, and having returned to play just two hours last night, it felt so right as a game. Those two hours were a better two hours than all the hours I placed in Horizon. I’m sorry, but it’s true. I never would’ve expected that feeling.
Also, I did sink sometime into the Stranger of Paradise demo, which had me laughing the whole time. It’s so bad it’s good. I’m genuinely curious how the game will review, but I really don’t care. I’m looking forward to that mess for all of its glory. I played the Ghostwire prologue as well… which honestly made me a little concerned that I have the game preordered. It wasn’t that good.
Oh, and of course I’ll probably put in about 30 minutes to an hour of Gran Turismo at some point for good measure, just to relax. And on the Nintendo front, I did play the Kirby demo (thank god it’s not an open world game as this year’s already heavy with them) and I’m in chapter 8 of Triangle Strategy, loving every minute of it, but also taking my time with it.
@Kidfunkadelic83 GT7 is my first time really playing a racing game so I probably wouldn't really notice many issues. I hope you have a good time with it, I've been playing more of it than Elden Ring I need to invest time into that soon. GT7 is just nice to pop on daily, race for a bit and get the daily workout.
@somnambulance I felt the same after playing one hour of Elden Ring compared to the two hours I played of Forbidden West. In the first hour I was running around getting destroyed and at the same time taking in the glorious open world area while in my time with Forbidden West I didn't really feel like I did much and what I did wasn't very exciting. SOP is so goofy I love it, I'll probably get it on sale a few months down the line, same with Ghostwire Tokyo. I'm just not too sure about that one and it's a Bethesda game so it's most likely going to be about 50% off within 2-3 months.
Count me as another racing sim newbie who is absolutely loving GT7. Going to try to finish my licenses tonight. Just finished main story in Arkham Knight which was actually really disappointing. Been years since I’ve played Asylum/City so thought I’d be up for more but just did nothing for me especially with all the tank stuff. Will start Cyberpunk and/or Pyschonauts 2 to occupy game time in between racing around in GT7.
Im 12 hours in elden ring, this game is a blast!
Gran Turismo 7, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and Sackboy A Big Adventure.
65 hours into HFW, Just superb spent most of today doing Scavenge contracts but tonight I'm heading a little further west to advance the main story.
Really looking forward to playing Elden Ring to see what all the fuss is about but that probably won't be for a while.
If I'm lucky I'll get it a fair bit cheaper and the frame rate issues will be sorted, if not no Biggie played loads of games over the years with frame rate issues.
I'm so invested in Horizon Forbidden West, but will play some Gran Turismo 7 this weekend, maybe.
@Sam_ATLUS i have been have good fun with it. Im now on menu 28
Elden ring, and some more Elden ring.
@Snatcher games amazing
@KIERONOO damn platinum Elden ring! Nice. I’m enjoying the game so much
@commentlife so much to see and find, love the exploration aspect of it
Can someone tell me how do do italics here? I know how to do bold example but not italics
Grand Turismo 7 and Horizon Forbidden West , and I also need to play Elden Ring we've been spoilt rotten, I have so many games to finish, I've still not even touched Tales Arise
@Nightcrawler71 https://www.pushsquare.com/forums/ps_general_discussion/formatting
Streets of Rage 4 dlc went on sale so I may attempt a new playthrough as the last time was 2 years ago.
@Sam_ATLUS I preordered the lot of them, and despite having no preorders after this busy March (and thus likely few purchases) til October (thanks to the Forspoken delay), my mind is in a mad rush mentality. I’m so intrigued by so much.
And with Horizon, I feel like my opinion warmed on it as I was getting to the end of the campaign, but then I finished it and I was back to feeling like I just played an Ubisoft game, albeit a strong one. I doubt Elden Ring will make me feel that way. Mostly because I don’t really know if there is a story at this point.
@Mostik I really like the idea of it but I get the worst prize every time 😫 getting a car would definitely be better 😁
@KingPev Thankyou, made my day...... if I read it before going to bed last night😴
Decided to crack on with Deadly Premonition 2. The Switch really holds it back. I’m enjoying it, but it would be so much better on a more powerful console.
Got the first Ty the Tasmanian Tiger game on sale and it looks so crisp on PS5, sometimes it is nice to play a simpler game like this, love myself some 3D platformers.
Nothing yet but will be playing more Ghost of Tsushima: Iki Island DLC.
I've almost got the entire island mapped out, then I'll tackle all of the available side quests first before returning to the story.
PS5 - Horizon: Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7
Xbox Series X - The King of Fighters XV, F.E.A.R.
Playing some God of War at the Muspelheim trials and enjoying the challenge.
@JustPlainLoco If you are at where I'm guessing you are, Liurnia of the lakes, then you need a special key to access that area. You find out this information by talking to the mage near the first sight of grace in the church after reaching that area. The key is found by killing the dragon in that area and it is important you do this because the locked area contains the second main boss and the ability to respec once you defeat it.
@GorosBat - Yeah I just spent today doing just that, got into the Academy, and defeated both of it's bosses, but now I'm back where I started and not sure where to go / where I can go next. I could just use a guide but I'm really trying not to, right now I'm curious how to activate that Grand Lift of Dectus, since a friend recommended I 'clear' that area? Not sure how cause the Lift doesn't appear to work.
@BritneyfR_ee Me too mate, I am probably just a salty because I get like 1000 credits each time or an exhaust and no car 😂
Finishing up the journey through Horizon Forbidden West this weekend.
And mentally preparing to delve into Elden Ring next week, gathering info on starting classes, good early gear to look out for in the first part of the game, tips and tricks to be aware of, and so on.
There's nothing like reveling in good games after such a dry period that 2021 was.
At just under 30 hrs in, I've still got quite a ways to go on Cyberpunk 2077, so I'm playing that. I'm a trophy hunter and have just a little more than half the set complete but what 's left is the grindy, time-intensive stuff, though I will say I'm enjoying the game much more now that I'm past the bulk of the story related stuff.
@Kidfunkadelic83 like what?
Me: might play something different this weekend
Elden ring: you don't have the right!
@BigJoze whats the question referring to mate, my issues with GT7?
@Kidfunkadelic83 yeah you said some things could be better, just curious
@BigJoze no problem man
. I feel that the rolling starts should have been abolished and replaced with a hot lap for qualifying, as what your effectively getting is a race of catch up where you always start in last and the people in front have a long head start.
. The races are too easy on easy and medium but give a very good challenge to get in to 1st on hard, problem with this is most races are 2 or 3 lap races and if you spin out you dont have a hope in hells chance of coming first unless you have a over powered PP car which in turn takes away any challenge. I'd have liked a long career mode option that allows you to double or even tripple the lap counter making a spin out not mean having to hit retry over and over.
. Bullet points, like in Forza and many other racers would have been brilliant in the tuning menu telling you what effects what. Its easy to know that your back end is spinning out but less easy to know how to correct it. A simple explanation would have been helpful.
. A pre race weather forecast stating the next race was going to be in the wet or cloudy with a chance of rain would help you know what tyres to fit. Had a race the other day that started in the dry so naturally i continued to race my racing soft tyres but changed to rain on the 3rd of 4 laps and i was all over the place. If i'd had an idea then i could have gone with the wet/dry combo loke the computer obvioustly did. It was a reset, change tyres, do the race again scenario.
Ive said it before tho. GT7 is an amazing racing game on the track. I really like it alot, despite sounding like i probarbly dont. Just wish a little more thought had gone in to some stuff outside of the racing.
@Kidfunkadelic83 that's fair enough, I actually agree with every point you made. The campaign is more like a catch up race than a race lol. As you said it's still great. I think they might've kept the rolling starts and the big gap to the car that's first because otherwise the AI wouldn't be too challenging, I think whenever they add that GT Sophy AI it might improve things, might be able to have standing starts, we'll see
@BigJoze yeah hopefully in a not too distant update. Just hit menu 30 and the weather forcast issue has gone right to the top. 1 lap race around Nurburg and start on slicks, halfway around torrents of rain. I was just aquaplaning off the track. Backed out, changed to wets, started the race and there was no rain the whole race. Same with spa but the rain started on lap 4 of 5 and couldnt pit. For a game that's praises its own variable weather conditions not having a pre race forecasts is an amazing fail, not to mention very frustrating. Im contemplating shelving the game to see if something is done and its taking the fun out of it for me. I dont mind restarting when i overcook a hairpin and put it in to a wall but when its down to guessing weather conditions then i question the game.
@Kidfunkadelic83 yeah it was just today I encountered this issue to my detriment, I backed out the race a put wets on, didn't rain for the first 3 laps and was thinking it wouldn't. It didn't eventually, either way I was quick enough in the dry conditions on the wets. But I can see that becoming quite infuriating. Probably end up entering every race that's quite long and might rain with inters on lol
@scpnightwing I was reading through the WAYP comments here yesterday to see if anyone else mentioned The Batman, and even though it's no longer the weekend, I thought I'd reply to your comment.
I'm based in Birkenhead, and my brother first told me about The Batman being filmed in Liverpool when he saw the film crew and a helicopter around St George's Hall. Here's a link to an interesting BBC News article called How Liverpool, Glasgow and London helped create Gotham City.
I hope you enjoyed returning to Batman: Arkham Asylum, because I had lots of fun completing a few Most Wanted missions in Batman: Arkham Knight, like the League of Assassins focussed Shadow War.
The Most Wanted side mission called The Perfect Crime, which centred around stopping a creepy, opera singing serial killer, meant Arkham Knight's perpetual rain lashed night-time fitted in well thematically with watching The Batman, and both harked back to my memories of reading The Long Halloween.
It was good news last month about Sony Interactive Entertainment moving to a 65,000 square foot relocated office more in the city centre of Liverpool, too.
