We've got a bumper WAYP in store for you this week, folks — potentially one of the biggest editions in quite some time. With the very real prospect of Liverpool winning the Champions League, this author will be avoiding all living civilisation for the next 48 hours. Unless, of course, Karim Benzema can repeat his old party tricks.
Sammy Barker, Editor
I'm still working through Sniper Elite 5 as I seek to wrap up my review, so I suspect it'll be all killcams for me this weekend. Has anyone made a Jurgen Klopp mod yet?
Robert Ramsey, Deputy Editor
In between severe bouts of nerves regarding the Champions League final, I'll be trying to finish my playthrough of Tokyo Xanadu eX+, which has been a lot of fun. The Phoenix Wright remastered trilogy is also on the menu — these old GBA games are a lot funnier than I remember.
Stephen Tailby, Associate Editor
Roller Champions finally launched a couple of days ago, and I'm quite looking forward to giving it a fair shake this weekend. I had a good time playing the beta version, so it'll be fun to hop back in and check out the full game.
Liam Croft, Assistant Editor
It'll be more Final Fantasy XIII for me. I haven't been able to play too much since last weekend, but onwards to Palumpolum I go!
Aaron Bayne, Video Editor
With access to the new PS Plus and a whole bunch of games to try out, I will of course just continue to play Apex Legends as I do every single damn day. Someone send help.
Jamie O'Neill, Reviewer
It's a good sign of a shoot-'em-up's replayability that even though I feel satisfied from achieving the Platinum by completing the game with its variety of characters, I still want to return to Cotton Fantasy for another half hour playthrough.
How long has it been since the entire editorial team submitted a WAYP do you reckon? Bet it's been at least 100 issues, probably even more. Alas, let's keep things busy with an active comments section below.

Exploring the Forbidden West on PS5, while defending the accused in court as a great ace attorney on Switch. Plus binging Stranger Things and Liverpool winning the champions league hopefully!
Have a good weekend folks!
Danganronpa v3: Game is amazing, just beat the 4th trial which was superb. This game continues to toy with my thought process as I like to theorise who the killer is for each trial before I actually find out who it is, I like thinking of motivations and how they dunnit through the subtle hints and information the game gives you leading up to the murder. Little do I know that these "hints" are made to throw off the player into thinking the killer is someone else. Absolute god tier storytelling and I fall for it every single time, well done Spike Chunsoft, your Visual novels are legendary and I applaud the crazy people making these games (like seriously how the heck do they come up with some of this stuff😂) I'm eagerly anticipating AI The Somnium Files: Nirvana Initiative and can't wait to go through another emotional train of a game😭
My Time at Portia: So I saw My Time at Sandrock was going into early access this week, but instead of that I'm going to play My Time at Portia. It was in a Fanatical bundle for $8AU, they historically have bad bundles for games as it's usually the same stuff rehashed 100 times but this bundle had 4 games in it that I'd play so I picked it up. It had Blasphemous and My Time at Portia, so those alone made it worth it, but it also came with Cook,Serve Delicious 3 and Mordid the Seven Acolytes which look cool also. So for $2 each I couldn't say no (this is turning into a problem, my library of games just keeps going up😭). Took me a while to finally try this out, I remember downloading it on Xbox Game Pass once and uninstalled it before I even started for no apparent reason, so it was a nice surprise when I booted it up properly for the first time. It's a farming, town builder, ARPG, Social crafting game all in one. Welp, RIP my life, I can see myself poring 10's of hours into it and could be my next gaming addiction!
Cook, Serve, Delicious 3: Cooking game in the vein of those cafe manager type games, haven't tried it yet but I know the formula, so this could be one of those games I play and 5 hours pass without me noticing.
Kao the Kangaroo: I caved and bought the game, expensive for how long reviewers are saying the game is but since this is a collectathon I'm not worried as I've put in 4 hours and the game says about 30% complete! Game has a bit of jank and has a few glitches that I've experienced in regards to the games main collectible that is used for unlocking levels. I beat a level then came back for clean up and for some reason even though I had 4/4 gems there was one in the world so I picked it up and now instead of 19 in total I have 20, weird (hope that doesn't mess with trophies). Even so, I'm having a delightful time with the game and is really scratching my Spyro itch. I'd recommend the game right now to anyone who has an adoration for these types of games, but if you don't maybe wait for a sale and for the developers to patch the game a little more.
Dragon Quest XI S Definitive Edition: Game is contention of my favourite JRPG along side Persona 5 Royal! I'm finding that I love the game even more this second time round and want to do EVERYTHING this game has to offer, this game deserves to be completed 100% by me, I just want more Dragon Quest in general, DQ3 HD-2d this year, the chibi Erik game and maybe a DQ builders 3 announcement! (I can only dream).
Edit: My thoughts on Cook, Serve Delicious 3 after playing: YES
After finishing both Ghost of Tsushima and Horizon Forbidden West in the past week or so, I’ve finally started God of War (2018). And what a game it is. I’m only around five hours in, but it’s absolutely incredible, especially at 60 frames per second on PS5, so I’ll be sticking with this one until it’s finished.
When I’m not using the living room TV, I’m also playing through SteamWorld Dig 2 on Switch. I’d say I’m about halfway through right now and I'm struggling to put it down. So addictive. Two incredible games that I’ll finally tick off from my backlog.
Have a great weekend everyone, and for those who’ll be watching, let’s hope the Champions League final will be a banger tonight!
I playing "Rogue Warrior" on the PS3. It's just as hilarious as all the rumours suggested.
I'm taking a break from Elden Ring. I'm 120+ hours in, maybe 130 (or is it 230?), but I've hit a wall.
I burned myself out on it. I reckon I only have an hour left in the game. I'm at the last few bosses, but my motivation has left me.
A few days away from it though and I have no doubts I'll be ready to go again.
For now, Forbidden West and GT7.
Small matter of Leinster VS La Rochelle this afternoon too. I have massive anxiety over that one. Might have to go to the pub to watch it 🤔
I am going to finish Stubbs the Zombie, then will move on to Fahrenheit.
sniper elite 5 so different than the 4th one getting used to this game lol
I'm exploring Iki Island on Ghost of Tsushima and forgot how amazing that game can look, it's taken me a while to get back into the swing of things and Mother Miranda seems to be incharge for some reason 😆. Really enjoying it and the lack of a HUD is quite refreshing once again
Sniper Elite 5 on PS5. Loving it so far.
Cruisin' around Night City in Johnny's classic 911 turbo with the radio tuned to Pacific Dreams. Beautiful.
Also hoping for a 7th European Cup for the Mighty Reds. ✊
Probably try and finish Modern Warfare 2019 - enjoyable game but absolutely bizarre menu system. I have never stuggled to actually start a game until now but the single player mode is burried under several other menus. Very odd. Guess its clear how much Warzone is the focus of that release.
Also playing NEO The World Ends With you which is ok but very repetitive so will have to see how far i get with that
Playing Yakuza Like A Dragon on PS5, played it on PS4 back in 2020 and after finishing up Lost Judgment I want more RGG goodness so I've decided to play the game again.
I've been playing Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana on PS4 the past week and I've really been enjoying it.
I've only played Cold Steel 1 & 2 by Falcom before and man this combat system is so exhilarating! The story hasn't done a whole lot yet but I'm enjoying the tropical island setting none the less and the very slight metroidvania aspect to exploration is cool.
I've got partway through Chapter 3 and got a new party member. Looking forward to playing more!
Have a good weekend everyone!
Guilty Gear most likely, already been on this morning looking for matches on the Japan server. Still hanging around on the 8th floor and have a total of over 700 wins to my name,. I may need help 😂
Not a football fan as it's like watching paint dry for me, but I like Klopp he'd be fun to have a pint with. So on that basis good luck Liverpool and hope everyone has a great weekend!
Got EA play in order to play unravel 2 with the wife, and sea of solitude. May also take advantage of being able to play It Takes Two again.
Also got BoxVR in the sale, so might play that a bit.
Undoubtedly will also fit some quick runs of Slay the Spire in between. Such a “one more go” classic.
Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS5)
...
meh
I’ve actually got a whole weekend off for once, so I’m hopefully going to do a lot of gaming. Currently making my way through Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Remastered, then it’s onto Kao the Kangaroo.
I have the week off 😊😊😊 so I'm enjoying my time currently playing Dragon Quest and possibly deaths door at some point.
I’m replaying the last of us part 2 it’s been nearly 2 years since I last played it and the 60fps patch makes it feel like a brand new game.
I'll be taking advantage of the last few days of free log-ins for Final Fantasy XI (I'm probably going to resub for a month and try and finish off the Chains of Promethea expac)
I also finally picked up Cyberpunk 2077, so far I am finding it aggressively okay but I'm not very far in so hopefully that improves.
I'm still making my way towards 100%ing the entire Mass Effect Legendary Collection, I need to go to NG+ in ME3 to polish off the last few trophies, but I can do that on Super Easy mode
Aaaaand finally I have the Ni no Kuni mobile/pc MMO thing a bash... it nails the look and sound of the proper games, but I'm not a fan of the auto-play and gacha stuff.
I will be playing. . . . nothing. Too busy scrolling pages and pages of deals this weekend (and thinking about which grass and rocks on the road provide all the necessary nutrients for a diet).
European cup? Hmm, no, never heard of it.
Is it an Xbox exclusive?
Having a bit of a shmup session on PS5 with some Geometry Wars 3 and Nex Machina. Over on XSX I discovered I have the complete edition of Watch Dogs from the WD Legion season pass.
Haven't played this since it launched on PS4 and apparently it now runs at 60fps on the XSX so I'll be donning Aiden's iconic hat and heading back to Chicago for some wonky driving. Have a good weekend all!
I bought the PS5 upgrade for Ghost of Tsushima, but because it’s been so long since I finished the game (on PS4) I decided to just start a new game to get used to the controls again. I also have to finish act 1 before I can go to the new island, which I’m looking forward to.
Also playing Sniper Elite 5 and Ruined King on XSX. This week I also bought Ghostwire Tokyo in the days of play sale, but am not going to start it until I’ve finished something else first.
PS5: Devil May Cry 5. Wow, I don’t even like fighting games but damn, having a blast with this one. Dope music while cranking out amazing combo moves!
XSX: Sniper Elite 5. Frankly, I had pretty low expectations. Those have been well exceeded. Graphics are mediocre but the overall feeling and versatility of the gameplay makes up for it.
The invasion system is also well thought out. I was unsure whether I should leave it enabled or not. But turns out you don’t lose any real progress even if you get killed by the invader.
@Shepherd_Tallon I feel that hitting a wall. Usually, when I first start an open world game, I'm enjoying it so much, trying to do everything, barely make any progress in the main story and then comes a point where motivation leaves me and I haven't beaten it, lol. Over the last couple of years, I've gotten better at ignoring side stuff more. Still doing some of it but as soon as I feel that burn out feeling, I'm back on the main missions. If I ever feel the want to get back to the side stuff, I can usually do it later or even after the main story. But, similar to you, Elden Ring has kept me intrigued for much longer than any other open world game thus far. I think I finished my first playthrough at around 125 hours.
Demon’s Souls Remake. What a game!
My first FromSoft game really (I know Bluepoint did the remake but I’ve heard it’s pretty faithful to the original).
I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it and avoided playing it for ages - I tried Bloodborne a few years ago and didn’t enjoy it at all so I wasn’t expecting to like Demon’s Souls either. But… I’m hooked!
Died a few times in 1-1 but managed to complete 1-1, 1-2, 2-1 and 3-1 without any issues really. I got a bit cocky thinking it wasn’t as hard as everyone made out. Then I started 4-1 and those god-damned Skeletons kicked my a*s! They must have killed me about 50 times! I really hate those rolling b*stards 🤣 It reminded me of that scene in the Dr Strange movie where Dormammu kills Strange over and over again. I was determined to find a way.
I’ve managed to finish 4-1 and 4-2 now. I love the trial and error aspect of it. I thought this would be frustrating but it’s the opposite - it just encourages me to try a different approach. And the feeling when you finally clear a level is great.
I’m thinking I might give Bloodborne another try after this.
@dschons Yeah that's exactly it. When the side stuff becomes a distracting chore there's always a danger of burnout.
But like you, Elden Ring has held my attention for far longer than any other open world game. The dungeons weren't even what burned me out I think. 🤔 I've just played too much of it all at once.
I love that FromSoftware formula too much.
To be determined...
Lego star wars the Skywalker saga on my ps5. Very chill and funny game. My first real lego game I'm playing and its pretty awesome. Think I'm gonna go for the plat on this one.
On my Xbox im playing ff7, the original one. Never played it. Even though it's pretty old the graphics don't bother me as much as I thought they would. It's a cool game to play. I can play ff7r later then so I'm not in the dark when playing that one.
Maybe I'll play some ai the somnium files or eso on the side, depending on how much time I feel spending on the other games. I like to play 2 to 3 games at once which aren't all the same type which prevents burnout on games for me I found out, so I'll just keep doing this
On PS5 I've just finished the voice of cards forsaken maiden which was a good game but towards the end it got tedious. Will now fully focus on Elden Ring and Trails of cold steel 1
On switch I will finally compete fire emblem three houses and will then concentrate on getting xenoblade chronicles 2 complete before number 3 comes out. I should also have Rune Factory 5 come today so will give that a play as well
Nout. Just finished up plague tale on Egs and really liked it. Minus a few glitches and getting stuck in death loops 3x it was really good. Played in French.
Cba with anything else for a bit.
Cyberpunk 2077 and Gran Turismo 7 are occupying my gaming time. Not much else to say on that!
Tonight? Can't say I like either club so just hoping it's a good game and doesn't end 0-0 and be decided on penalties. 3-3 and go to pens, that's fine though.
😉
Enjoy the game, your weekends and whatever you decide to play.
@Lavalera Palpatine: Execute Order 67!
Stormtrooper: Yes my Lord. * breaks out dancing *
Palpatine: No, No! Not 67. Order 66!
😁
Still Elden Ring, 269hrs and it's the longest game I've played if you're a no fast travel completionist nook and cranny type of gamer. I'm playing Mafia 3 and any other on the side to balance things a bit though.
Final Fantasy XIV as always and starting Call of the Sea
This weekend I will have visitors at home, so I will play less. Continue Horizon Forbidden West, Assassin's Creed Liberation, Cyberpunk 2077. And see some lives of Star Wars Celebration too!! Have a good weekend folks!!
Picked up Traingle Strategy on Switch which is like the brilliant Final Fantasy Tactics. Played about 6 hours so far. On game pass Im playing Sniper Elite 5 and Death's Door. Recently completed Tunic on game pass which is a must play. Also got back to Destiny 2 and started Witch Queen which I got on the current sale. Enjoy the gaming weekend all
Just got to the halfway point of A Plagues Tale and I’m loving it! Really connecting with Hugo and Amicia’s story so far and can’t wait for the sequel.
@Lavalera I do the same, play 3 or more games at the same time, so I don't feel burnout and finish almost all of them at some point. I never liked to focus on just one game, i like diversity in every kind of entertainment.
I started Mass Effect 2 Legendary Edition yesterday, so that will be my main game this weekend.
Also planning to try the training mode in the Mario Strikers: Battle League trial.
Just finished Chapter 3 in Bug Fables. The dungeon for chapter 3 has the best music in the game.
@Shepherd_Tallon that last two or three bosses are amazing in design and gameplay. Definitely take a break and come back and finish it. I just wrapped it up myself after worrying I was burnt out, only to contemplate starting a second casual playthrough. 😂
Nioh 1! Finally found something to fill the post-ER void...
Amazing game, and combat is finally starting to click. Brutally hard in places, but nice to play something that is a 'riff' on the Souls-formula without being too close to DS/DeS/ER etc
Final fantasy 7 remake.resident evil 4.mad max and tomb raider definitive edition.watching the movie resident evil welcome to racoon city movie.watching the nba playoffs.watching sitcoms comedy 📺 tv shows in living color.good times sanford and sons.in living color.and martin.word up son
Finally earned my Elden Ring platinum! Now I have a huge gaping hole to fill because nothing feels as satisfying as that world.
Moving on to finish the GT7 cafe, working my way through Nobody Saves the World, and I just bought Ghostwire Tokyo on sale.
On my switch I’ll occasionally hit up Dungeons of Dreadrock (fantastic puzzler) and One Piece 3 (I needed a mindless mosou). Also excited to play more of Ashen.
Maybe I’ll get back to GG Strive at some point too! Too much to play!
@CJD87 Nioh is wonderful and the sequel is even better. I still dip into Nioh 2 on occasion.
Fury Unleashed local co-op with my brother, a very addictive side scroller.
Apart from the, finishing off R&C: Crack in Time then move onto Into the Nexus.
@ErrantRob Yeah for sure. I'll definitely go back to it tomorrow night or on Monday.
I'll absolutely be doing a very casual second run too.
Some of the boss fights in that game have been amazing.
Playing Forbidden West then watching the Final. Hoping the match is entertaining!
Going to try out Kena: Bridge of Spirits today. And I’ll be playing a little BioShock 2 as well.
Ghostwire: Tokyo. It’s pretty early still but so far so good! The audio/visual presentation is absolutely fantastic. Happy gaming!
Cyberpunk 2077. I am in the middle of the endgame, with only a few missions left in it. If I finish it before the weekend is over, then I will move on to Life is Strange: True Colors as my next game for something totally different.
@Th3solution As long as you like that kind of game, which I imagine you do, you should enjoy it. Just a heads up that the boss battles are very Souls-like in difficulty.
@Th3solution
Kena is a nice looking game. Not too far in myself but I'll get back to it eventually.
Working on Alienation with a few GTAV missions here and there.
Working through the log and stumbled across enter the gungeon. Cannot stop playing the thing, a new addiction.
This weekend - though it has been all week - I’ve been on a nostalgic kick, and playing old games from the Xbox 360 era that I never got around to at the time.
The first game I played and finished in a short time is Spec Ops: The Line. I can’t believe I didn’t play this sooner - it is amazing. The story is fantastic, the character development is nicely fleshed out, the pacing was perfect, and the gunplay was very serviceable.
Another title I am playing but haven’t finished yet is Enslaved Odyssey to the West. It’s really great so far, and I can see how The Last of Us and Horizon Zero Dawn were influenced by this gem.
Lastly, I’m playing a current gen. game that just released day one on Game Pass and that is: Sniper Elite 5. This game is fantastic! I love how it embraces player agency, and the sense of progression is constantly rewarding. The open sandbox maps are a joy to scour and provide tense stealth moments. It harkens back to my love for the first three Splinter Cell games. Moreover, the level of customization for your weapons adds a layer of freedom to play the game in any way and order you see fit. Furthermore, the challenges in the game provide a good sense of replayability as well.
Overall, I think I have a myriad of backward compatible games and a current gen game to keep me busy for months.
Batman Arkham City on 360 and lego star wars the bad levels.
PS5
Shadow of the Colussus remake
Its been odd revisiting this one. The original blew me away, and how could it not? There was nothing like it at the time. It subverted the openworld, action/adventure and platformer genre in one go, and created a haunting, emotional experience. Since then though, so many games have copied it thats its not as special and a little slight. Regardless, this is a great way to relive it via Bluepoints control and visuals.
Resident Evil 8
Returned to this one, am at the castle. Cool blend of 7 and 4, love that the merchent mechanic is back too...only critique is that i just prefer RE in third person.
PC Game Pass
Zero Escape: The Nonary Games
Streaming this to my phone, and touch controls are well done. This one is a cracker, awesome premise and involving puzzles.
I've been playing either Halo Infinite or Trails in the Sky 3 on PC. On PS5 though I was in the mood for a more linear story game so I decided to give Guardians of the Galaxy a shot. Really fun game and I literally know absolutely nothing about the source material!
@ThorsHammer resident evil village is nothing like resident evil 4 I think 4 is the best game ever but I was so disappointed with village it's good up until after the castle. Robots in resident evil? Not for me
iStunt 2 (Windows Phone) - I'm just starting this.
Dragon Mania Legends (Windows Phone) - Aiming to finish this finally.
The Great Wobo Escape (Windows Phone) - Also just starting this as well.
Since the sequel is getting closer and closer, I decided to try AI the Somnium Files and so far I'm really enjoying. I love the banter you get just clicking around at all the little things in an area and the music is so good
I really like the Somnium stages but also kinda feel like the time is too restrictive. I'm guessing that's because it wants you to play multiple times for each ending but I wanted to explore as much of the dialogue possible before moving on but sometimes it doesn't let you do that. Overall I'm really looking forward to seeing how this story ends
@mrtennis1990
'You have a good taste in games!' Achievement unlocked!
I played Kinect XBOX 360 games this night. 😃
1. Dance Masters
2. Kinect Adventures
I've just finished DPA: Little Hope and there's indeed little hope of a second playthrough for me. It didn't grip me the way Until Dawn did. Hell, Man of Medan was more interesting to me. I hope House of Ashes is better and that's what I'll be playing next. Apart from that:
PS5: Horizon Zero Dawn 2nd playthrough
Switch- nothing, gave it to my daughter
PS3- just set it up, going to buy a ton of games this week
Vita- Uncharted Golden Abyss
Happy gaming everyone!
Still with King of Fighters 15 and WWE 2K22.
Odin Sphere on the PS4. I deeply enjoyed 13 Sentinels which I bought day one. Ever since then, I've been keeping an eye out on Odin Sphere, waiting for it to go on sale. This week, I bought it for $20 CAD.
Odin Sphere's story telling is very similar to 13 Sentinels, in that there are many flawed perspectives which makes up a broader narrative. It's up to the player - and with the guiding hand of the developers - to piece it this narrative together. I'm 1.5hrs in, and I'm having a great time! There are already hints of a greater conspiracy and characters with their own motivations. Can't wait to see how it all comes together.
Also - if none of you else have done it; I recommend playing 13 Sentinels. One of the best VN in recent time!
On the road for Memorial Day Weekend, so PS5 is taking a break.
@GorosBat I have not played Donganronpa, but the way you described the game makes me want to play it.
If you enjoyed mind-****ery and piecing stories together, I would recommend 13 Sentinels on your next to play. 13 Sentinels has an amazing story, meshed together with stunning visual art. One of the best modern VN I've ever read. I'd even say it's better than Steins Gate! Anyway - enjoy your play!
@JamieO I’ll be continuing with Cotton Fantasy as well. You were absolutely right about the bonus stages - great stuff. My only gripe with the game is that I find the last few stages hard to read. Probably just need more practice. Oh, and well done with the spoiler tag.
Valkyria Chronicles 4. Brilliant game.
The greatest game of football you'll see this year (decade) happened at the Etihad last week. So I'll be busting out my brand new starlight (sky) blue Dualsense (courtesy of the Days of Play sale) and spend the weekend diving into the new Destiny seasonal content, adding cars to my GT7 collection and trying to get back into Elden Ring - fell off after around 80 hours, in Altus Plateau.
Hala Madrid!
@throwmeaname Lmao great recommendation, but I beat you to the point and have already played it, whilst I do praise the story of 13 sentinels it just didn't seem to grab me as much as others who've played that game. I liked the concept of the story but I'm not a fan of out of order storylines, don't get me wrong, when it is done in small doses it can be fantastic but for me personally, when it's the entire game it just wasn't for me. A recommendation from me to you is the Ace Attorney games, especially the first one which I think is a masterpiece so good that I've replayed it and plan to play it a 3rd time later this year. Music in Danganronpa and Ace Attorney series is spectacular and they both have tracks that keep my head bopping even after hearing them for the 100th time.
Finishing my journey across The Forbidden West this weekend. I started Horizon Zero Dawn back in February and played it, The Frozen Wilds and The Forbidden West back to back, so this will be the end of a 3.5 month long Horizon journey.
Really loved it and hope that this game will get an expansion!
@gollumb82 Looks like an awesome weekend of gaming ahead for you as well! Cheers!
@lolwhatno Yeah I picked it up in a sale. Really enjoyable.
Never heard of Flat Heroes but will check it out. Thanks for the recommendation.
@sword_9mm @KilloWertz Yeah, I’m liking it so far. Probably about 2 hours in. I read so much about the tough boss battles that I started out on the easiest difficulty. So far it’s laughably easy. I’m trying to learn to parry and I position myself close by waiting for the enemies to attack me and they just stand there. 😅. I might have to increase the difficulty if it doesn’t get more challenging.
And I learned that I’ve been mispronouncing Kena’s name in my head this whole time. It’s weird that they didn’t spell it ‘Kaena’ or ‘Kaina’ or ‘Kae-Na’ if they wanted it to be pronounced that way.
Got up super early this morning and waited in line for 2 hours. Finally got a PS5!!!! Don't even know where to begin....
@NYJetsfan123 Astro's Playroom. Then you can be disappointed with the rest of the PS5 catalog for not taking advantage of the controller as much as that one does.
@NYJetsfan123 Congrats!
Astro's Playroom, GT 7, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart are some of the games I've played or are playing on it right now.
Whatever you decide to play, enjoy!
Going to keep picking at Horizon FW. I got the shipping notice for my Series X so that cool. But mostly this weekend I’ll be watching auto racing. It’s the Monaco Gran Prix and the Indy 500. So that will occupy most of my time. Have a great weekend!
@Col_McCafferty
Thanks!! My PS4 died about a month and a half ago and I've been waiting for this moment ever since. I was about 1/3 of the way through horizon FW when it died too.... Currently playing Astros playroom. Console came with gt7 and ratchet and clank. Can't wait to play both but I really wanna finish horizon FW first....
Got a 2nd Dual Sense on Amazon with a few quid off the other day so been playing a bit of resogun multiplayer with the wee man.
Other than that we have cracked out the old mega drive and have been playing some classic sonic.
Tomorrow I plan to start on the RE3 Remake
Got my platinum trophy in GT7 for PS4 & PS5! Finishing up my platinum quest for GRID Legends and then I need to resume Ghostwire: Tokyo (8 hours in). If I have any extra time I’ll squeeze in Hot Wheels Unleashed and Saint Row: The Third remastered
@NYJetsfan123
Congrats!! Enjoy it!! My god, I think Horizon FW was my game of the year!!
@Th3solution Yeah, I played the regular parts of the game on Normal and then dropped it to Easy for the boss battles since they were frustrating me quite a bit.
@NYJetsfan123 Welcome to the club! After Astrobot, the next game I played that really made me appreciate the PS5 was Control Ultimate Edition. So I highly recommend that. As well as Returnal, R&C Rift Apart, and Demon’s Souls Remake. Miles Morales and FF7R also do a decent job with their respective PS5 versions. The Last of Us part II’s PS5 patch at 60 fps also looks fantastic and almost on par with native PS5 games. I haven’t tried the other first party PS5 patches like GoW, Days Gone, etc but they are also supposed to be excellent. Have fun!
@BritneyfR_ee It’s fun to read your Demon’s Souls experience. I really loved my time with the game a couple months ago, and although I did finish Bloodborne, I’m not as well seasoned in the FromSoft games as the most avid fans. I plan to dabble more into the Souls series due to my enjoyment of Demon’ Souls Remake so much.
What kind of character build are you doing?
@NYJetsfan123 Congrats on finally get a PS5 and enjoy! I think everybody else has covered the games pretty well.
Horizon Forbidden West looks amazing on the PS5, btw.
I'm still playing Assassin's Creed II, recently "took care of" Emilio Barbarigo.
@freddquadros Hope you have been enjoying Star Wars Weekend so far! I'm looking forward to Andor in August, Mando S03 in February 2023, Ashoka & Skeleton Crew in 2023, the LEGO Summer special in August, and the High Republic animated series in 2023.
We still have the Bad Batch panel on Sunday as well, hopefully they will debut the Season 2 trailer there.
@KilloWertz I’m not too proud to play on easy mode, so we’ll see how it goes. I’m not one of these gaming masochists who has to feel challenged to enjoy my games, but Kena’s narrative is pretty light so far so the added challenge might make the game more interesting if I ramp it up. There’s a surprising lack of exposition so far. Hopefully the game gives me a bit more about Kena’s background and why this world is in the state it’s in.
@Ryany yeah i love part 4 as well, its in my top 3 best games ever, but to say that 4 and 8 are nothing alike is a bit of stretch. In fact, it feels like a blatent attempt from Capcom to combine 7s gameplay with several aesthetic elements of 4. Both share similar isolated rural European villages, both are highly influenced by classic gothic horror (unlike the other entries which are influenced by 80s genre cinema), both start the games with frantic swarm of enemies rushing you, and also 8 brings back the mercent which first apppeared in part 4 and quickly disappeared from the series since. When i say its a blend of 4 and 7, im talking on a superfical level, its not a reflection on quality. However i am enjoying it so far, but as you warned, things dip after the castle section.
@Th3solution It does to an extent. Most of Kena's story is at the end of the game, but even then it still lacks somewhat, which is a bit odd. Hopefully they will go deeper with her story in a sequel, if there is one. A lot of the story is with the bosses and their backgrounds with the characters you end up working with to help them. So, all in all, most of the story comes from those parts of the game, and it does include the world and why it is the way it is.
I enjoyed being in the world and all that, as it brings back memories of old games, along with obviously the fact that it's a beautiful looking and sounding game. Thanks to that, I was able to forgive any story shortcomings for the most part. Again, they could have done better with the Kena character's story herself, but I also partially chalked that up to it being their first game.
This weekend i platinum’d the Disney Classic Collection, and I’m a little over half way through the MediEvil remake.
The thing with new big release droughts is i can go back to my backlog of games.
Feudal Alloy, BB!
With Stranger Things 4 and Kenobi, there's not much time left for gaming this weekend. Still, I will be playing some FIFA 22 and start Jedi Fallen Order again (this time the PS5 version)!
Liverpool is losing right now, but I hope they win! LET'S GO!
Dead rising 3
Vikings-Wolves of Midgard, not amazing but decent enough, reminds me of the champions of Norrath and Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance games on ps2.
Phantasy Star Portable 2 and Pokémon Black.
Back into Destiny 2 after a 2 year break. Really enjoying it, easy to jump in and ay a few strikes etc. Also finally bought Shadowkeep and Beyond Light on sale.
I've had The Last of Us Remastered in my backlog for a long time, and decided last week to finally get around to it (already played the PS3 version back when it came out) because of the remake rumors. That turned into a marathon of the series because I enjoyed it more than I remembered, and I'm aiming to wrap up the second game this weekend.
Also replaying Cuphead because the DLC is coming out soon. It's a lot more fun this time around because I'm just playing casually instead of going for S ranks on all the bosses.
Finished Vampire The Masquerade: Swansong this weekend. I initially had buyer's remorse for pre-ordering but the characters grew on me and I became more invested in the story as it progressed. I'm looking forward to going back to approach some of the scenarios from different angles and mop up some more of the trophies!
@Storytime7 I did the same thing last week! I finished the game nine years ago on my friend's PS3 while housesitting for him but wanted to complete the remaster on my PSN account. Started it back in 2018 but stopped halfway through. Reinstalled the game and before I knew it I was hooked again! Looking forward to playing the DLC for the first time before finally moving on to Part II.
I am playing isle of man TT ride on the edge as I do every year around the end of may in honour of the nutters who do it for real... Also some project cars2....
Exploring Yara in Far Cry 6. I'm finding it a bit dull to be honest - and seem to spend most of my play time travelling between quest markers.
@BritneyfR_ee
Demon souls is a fantastic game. Made me by a PS5 and I wasn’t sure either but I had an absolute blast playing it.
I’ve recently gone back for another run at it.
Glad youre enjoying it so much.
@Th3solution Yeah, I’m really surprised how much I’m enjoying it.
I did a crash-course in Demon’s Souls lore before I started playing and chose Royalty Class (easy mode - or so I’m told). That’s probably sacrilege to the hardcore Souls enthusiasts 😂 but I really thought I was going to play for half an hour, not like it and delete it. So I chose Royalty to give myself half a chance. I’ll definitely be giving the other classes a go after I’ve completed this first run though.
I like how the levels aren’t super long, so even if you do die, it’s not a massive loss. Certainly appreciated that in 4-1, after finally getting past the first area… then stepping on a pressure pad and taking three arrows to the back 😩 Definitely an ‘OMG I made it! I finally made it! I’m still aliv…’ … You Died … moment 🤣 They nearly got me with that trick at the end of the level as well (before the boss) but I learned - which is a big part of what makes the game so much fun.
What’s that movie called with Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt where they relive the same day over and over again and when they die, the day resets (but each time they get a little bit further than the day before)? That’s what this game reminds me of.
Edit: the movie is called Edge of Tomorrow.
@Hurblyburbly Thanks. Yeah, I got my PS5 in December last year and bought Demon’s Souls at the same time. But it’s taken until now for me to even try it. I kept putting it off thinking the difficulty would be too frustrating (and some parts can be until you get a feel for the level) but it isn’t nearly as ‘bad’ as I feared. The difficult parts actually make the sense of achievement so much sweeter.
Some gt7 ,f1 2021,rdr2 and some snooker 19 career mode ,have a great weekend everyone happy gaming
In a bit of a gaming lull at the moment now that Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West are done. There are two months until Xenoblade 3 comes out and I have quite a few half finished games I'd like to wrap up including FF7R, RE2, 3, 8 and more. Some of these got pushed aside by ER, others like FF7R I dropped off of. Really not sure which one to pick up and play as I've sort of mentally moved on from all of them, so just been bouncing around. And there are lots of other backlog games I really want to play which I could start instead! Not really a problem but just shows how good we had it at the start of this year!
@BritneyfR_ee Sounds like a familiar journey as mine. I did the Royalty/magic user build and followed guidance from Fextralife and it made it much more enjoyable. I’d like to do a faith build one day because it seems similar but the big spell (I think it’s called “Wrath of God” or something like that) is supposed to be pretty OP. The skeletons in 4-1 (and later as well) are the one enemy that magic doesn’t really give you an upper hand on. They close so fast that you have to be able to melee and it forced me to use my shield some. Once you get the timing down and over-level a bit then it’s easier.
I had to cheese a couple bosses too. The poison spell is a godsend for some of the boss encounters.
Glad you’re having a good time with it. Bloodborne was fantastic as well, and now that you know you can look up the tricks of the game and how to build your character, you should be able to power through. Once you get past the first two bosses in BB it feels less overwhelming.
I think I’m going to play DS3 sometimes this year as my next FromSoft game since it has a PS5 patch for 60fps and then play Elden Ring. If I find ER in the cheap, I might do it first though.
@Amnesiac I agree with you about some of the visuals being difficult to read in Cotton Fantasy, especially during the busier later stages.
I've mentioned before that I prefer the graphics in Cotton Reboot!, because I like its hand-drawn 2D art work more than Cotton Fantasy's blocky polygons, and in general I find the presentation in the reboot to be clearer and tighter to follow.
However, one visual design element in Cotton Reboot! is far worse than Cotton Fantasy, and it's where you achieve very high score multipliers that fill up the screen with huge x1024 icons, which obscure all of the action. These screen restricting icons were really obvious in reboot's Time Attack modes, and when achieving the Trophy where you have to make sure the jewel counter is set to max.
Cheers, too, I was pleased to find out how to hide spoiler information from reading the Push Square forums' General Discussion thread about using Formatting in the comments section. I knew you enjoyed your 2D shooters, so while I realised that not all of Cotton Fantasy's unlockable stages were from Success' shoot-'em-ups, I didn't want to spoil the surprises that were specific to shooters for you.
@NYJetsfan123 That is awesome man!! Enjoy!!
@KidBoruto Yes, I watched lots of panels and lives of SWC, so great announcements!! I'm a huge Star Wars fan, it's my main franchise, so I'm looking foward for everything hahaha I always knew Andor would be great, as the scope is huge. Happy to see Jude Law finally coming to Star Wars. Ahsoka bringing the Ghost crew back, Bad Batch S2, Mando S3, Jedi Survivor, Tales of The Jedi, there is so much goodness!!
My dream is to go to the Celebration in person. Maybe someday... MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU!!
@freddquadros I highly recommend checking out both Skeleton Crew and Young Jedi Adventures when they stream on Disney+ in 2023!
Do you collect or read any of the Star Wars books/comics? I know they've been doing the High Republic era recently.
Also I'm almost done with Assassin's Creed II, wrapping up the feathers and glyphs before I tackle the final mission.
@KidBoruto I will!!! Star Wars is the franchise I'm the most completionist of all!! I read every comic, buy any book they launch here in Brazil too! The High Republic is so wonderful!! I love all Star Wars, no negativity here.
Great you're close to wrap AC II. Brotherhood is quite epic since the start, you will see!! Those 2 games works like a single storyline, this war against the Borgias. Brotherhood is even better!
@freddquadros Same for me but with anything Harry Potter/Wizarding World! I do also love everything Star Wars, but sadly I've fallen behind thanks to all of the various novels and comics lol. I manage to stay caught up on the movies and TV shows usually though.
I platinumed AC2 finally, just lit my first Borgia tower in AC Brotherhood. Sequence 2 or 3 I think?
@KidBoruto I love the Wizarding World too, I try to consume everything there as well. Not with the same success as I could in Star Wars, but I will get there. I will see Fantastic Beasts 3 today!!
Amazing start of AC B right?? Intense and a little heartbreaking...
@freddquadros Hope you enjoy! I saw FB3 in theaters and thought it was decent, could have been better though.
More annoying that I lost all of my upgrades and equipment...but that aside I have been enjoying the story.
I do not care for the 100% Sync challenges though...some of them are REALLY tough. Like not getting hit, and the time limit ones.
@KidBoruto Yes, FB3 was good, not incredible, but I expected that due to the troubled production. Hopes there is the planned 4 and 5 yet.
Lose the gear is understandable, it's a new game hehe. And yes, I was about to say that to you, don't worry about the 100% sync in this game and Revelations. It's too hard because if you fail once, it's restart the entire mission. Some are very long.
I could do 100% in AC III because restarting a checkpoint bring the optional objective again, so I could retry then without repeating the entire mission.
Enjoy ACB story,, it's awesome. Claudia is amazing there. And leave the Da Vinci DLC for later, as it is very far in the plot.
@freddquadros Hopefully they don't cancel them! I would still love to see FB4 and FB5, despite it all.
Speaking of the Wizarding World, are you also hyped for Hogwarts Legacy? That's literally my childhood dreams becoming reality...making my own custom wizard character and attending Hogwarts school while also saving the magical world from some threats.
I actually learned that if you change your outfits in ACB/ACR during missions/challenges, it restores you to a checkpoint instead of restarting the entire quest!
Oh I always save DLC quests for last, since they're usually post-game and spoiler the main story! I'm in Rome now about to help restore the different factions.
@KidBoruto Oh yes!!! Hogwarts Legacy is way better than I ever expected!! they put a lot of love in that game! A chance to deepdive in the Wizarding World!! I played Harry Potter 1 and 2 in PS1, and then couldn't find another game to play, but now I won't miss it!!
