This weekend sees the new King coronated here in the UK, a historic event that'll no doubt give the globe a weird and wonderful impression of what British life isn't like. We're not ones for pomp and ceremony, so we'll be shielding ourselves from the silliness with our PlayStations.
Aaron Bayne
I’ll be digging into some more Star Wars Jedi: Survivor this weekend for my dealing of single player, and a bit of Chivalry 2 with the lads for my multiplayer.
Jamie O'Neill
Four years before Bimmy, I watched first-hand as Billy and Jimmy Lee muscled their way into becoming the kings of the arcade beat-'em-up in 1987. 36 years later, following the announcement of Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, I'll backwards elbow through the slowdown riddled Arcade Archives Double Dragon.
Khayl Adam
Okay, I caved and bought Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, despite wanting to finish up Dead Island 2, as was always going to happen. It's really great so far, and I look forward to delving deeper!
Liam Croft
I'm going to get started on the Horizon Forbidden West DLC Burning Shores, and I'm also playing PS4 indie horror game The Tartarus Key for review.
Sammy Barker
I'm just addicted to Genshin Impact. Parts of the game feel bloated beyond belief, but I'm determined to catch up so I can enjoy future updates and events at a slightly less pressured pace.
Scott McCrae
This weekend I'll be playing some Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and hopefully manage to beat it before Zelda.
And Metal Gear Solid for the Game Boy Color.
Stephen Tailby
I've played the first few hours of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, which I'm enjoying a lot so far. However, Cal's quest for more beards and hairdos is now on hold, as the time has come for me to get to grips with Humanity. Review coming soon(ish)!
And that's everything from us! Of course, as always, we want to hear from you: what are you playing this weekend? Let us know in the comments section below.

Little Uncharted, little Metroid Prime Remastered and a tiny pinch of Ocarina of Time 3D!
On the PC front I will continue my progress through the StarCraft II Wings of Liberty campaign for the 100th time
Happy gaming everyone!
My gaming since last time
Redfall – so yeah, not going to play more of this dissappointing game if I can avoid it. Bad in every aspect imo, not just the technical issues. Was looking forward to the game so Im a bit bummed by it. My eldest likes it though, imagine that. But then, he and his friends still play Roblox and have fun and given that Redfall pretty much could be a Roblox game maybe its not so surprising 😉
Jedi Survivor – real shame it suffers from technical issues because its a great game and I´m having a really, really good time with it. Still, would recommend anyone wanting to play it to wait for a bit longer.
Brambles – finished it earlier in the week. Really enjoyed it. It starts nice and cosy and gets pretty dark and grim along the way. Its a little bit janky but nothing to bad, can recommend it.
Apex – mostly waiting for next weeks update and new legend
On Playstation 5 I will be continuing with God of War Ragnarok, Project Zero Lunar Eclipse and YS 8 Lacrimosa of Dana.
On Switch I will be playing Splatoon 3 as its Splatfest weekend, Bayonetta Origins and Harvestella
Ghost of Tsushima DC. I bought Tunic to play after that.
I’m on a 12 hour shift and will be listening to the Coronation on the radio. 3 cheers for the King!!!
I'm playing pga road to the masters. I'll hold my hands up right now and say i was wrong about the swing but it took a really long time to adjust. I still think the graphics are not of the same quality seen in the gameplay trailers and it has a lot of glitches and odd little bugs but overall it plays a mean game of golf..have a great bank holiday everybody 👍
I’ll be playing something but im not sure what that something is yet.
I'm gonna continue my quest on Fishing with Cthulhu - aka Dredge (PS5). It's pretty good at creating an atmosphere of dread without actually having anything scary happen.
Playing The Ascent. Stunning cyberpunk world, not the greatest story and fairly repetitive, but the gunplay is so satisfying - well worth the £10 in the PSN Store sale!
PS5: Witcher 3: hearts of stone. I don’t want to finish the main story line so I will buy the other expansion.
PS5: The last of us part 2. Maybe it’s controversial but I really like this game. I know Joel and Ellie’s story was fantastic but the gameplay of part 2 is so much better.
Upcoming; next month I finally have enough funds to buy PSVR2 . Any recommendations?
Happy weekend all!
I’m going to be starting a New Game+ playthrough of The Last of Us: Part II on Grounded difficulty with permadeath by chapter, to try and knock out those two trophies at the same time.
I’m looking forward to the challenge and I’ve heard the AI on that difficulty can make the gunfights pretty intense.
Happy gaming everyone.
Playing Diablo 3, had it sat in the backlog for years and finally decided to give it a go.
Finishing up some side quests on burning shores and maybe a bit destiny
Finished the plat for Cosmonious high, which was a great game, and so I’ll go back to the delightful Moss 2. There is, however, only so long I can play puzzle games for, so I’ll probably start something else. Could continue Ys 9, but I’m finding flat games a bit flat at the moment. Might get Garden of the Sea.
My wife got my Jedi Survivor for my birthday. Playing it in performance mode. A few dips that are annoying but not unplayable like some have suggested. I'm having a blast. 4hrs in
Also on cult of the lamb and loving that too. Just pure fun but can be stressful managing my cult lol
About 4 hours into Forspoken and enjoying it more now the magic combat is opening up. The main character is annoying though and the story is guff, but it's far better than I expected after its reception.
I'm also itching to start Age of Wonders 4 on PS5 ...love this series and this has had great reviews
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️
@mac_da_man Looking to get Bramble soon. Is it worth it for £22.50 at the mo?
Finished Saints Row last night, mindless fun but some really fun missions. Today though I will be starting Like A Dragon Inshin and I can't wait, only played judgement before (no main line Yakuza games) and loved that one so got high hopes especially after the reviews.
@northaldinho I loved the Ascent, really good game, good world & story, gun play is excellent, glad you are enjoying it as I think a lot of people missed out on that gem!
Still forming allies in England in the fantastic AC Valhalla. MAFIA, Cyberpunk 2077, Bloodborne, Ghost of Tsushima.
Finishing Fire Emblem Engage before Tears of the Kingdom comes out next Friday
I'll be playing some more Age of Wonders 4. Finished my first campaign with my toads of doom, and wow this game is good. Will keep my occupied for hundreds of hours
@Sanquine I love the last of us part 2. Exactly as you put the story is better in 1 but gameplay is improved in 2
@KingPev I genuinely enjoyed my play through of forspoken
@rusty82 I think its worth it, but waiting for a sale never hurts either. Gives the developer time to patch the game a bit as well, not that its in a state where it desperatly needs it.
I’ve become obsessed with Neon White and it’s all I can think about, it’s such a good game.
I'm playing Kena Bridge of Spirits and Sackboy A Big Adventure
I'll be trying to finish Square's Parasite Eve II.
Just beat Ratchet & Clank Tools of Destruction this morning on ps3 after beating Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart the past week on ps5. Also reached level 100 in Fortnite and beat Ghostwire: Tokyo.
Might play Redfall on the Xbox Series X but I also surprised my friendgroup with a NSO+EP Family Plan on my cost so we can play stuff like Mario Kart 64 and GoldenEye together.
Replaying RE Village in 3rd person before starting the Rose DLC that I recently grabbed on sale. While enjoyable, everything in terms of gameplay in RE 4 Remake is just better so hard to not just want to boot that up yet again.
@Mostik definitely, I think for a small developer to create such an incredible-looking world that really feels lived-in, as well as one that runs super-smooth on ps5 is an amazing achievement, hopefully will see a sequel at some point!
SWITCH - playing some more Breath of the Wild in preparation for Tears of the Kingdom next week! Plus some Sonic Frontiers on the side.
3DS - nothing on here this weekend.
PS5 - The usual weekly GTA Online session with friends later tonight, plus might also start on Returnal! Heard good things about it.
PC - Going to start Hi-Fi Rush today! Also heard good things about this one.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Im playing the wonderful last of us part 2. Extremely good graphics.and gameplay.the excellent vanquish.the fantastic persona 5 royal.the amazing ni no kuni.im watching the nba playoffs.its been really good.im watching my boston Celtics 💚🖤 🏀 play.they won last night.i will be watching legendary sitcoms tv 📺 comedy shows in Sanford and son.good times.the Jeffersons.and saved by the bell.word to god.word life.word is bond.word to your mother.word up son
I'll probably finish the AC Black Flag story, and just dip back in once in a while for some plundering. I've got a nice back log to get onto now, maybe I'll try Mafia 3
Getting up to all sorts of ancient magic shenanigans as Hogwarts' new fifth year student, Amelia Rackham.
@Powerplay94 yes it sucks to have to wait when you really want to play a game, so much so that I just gave in and started playing even knowing the issues. They are not gamebreaking in any way though, but you would have a better experience if you sre smarter than me and wait a bit as you say 😅
I will finish Horizon Forbidden West Burning Shores, as I'm now in the final main quest. More Star Wars Jedi Survivor is sure bet too, and Assassin's Creed Origins and Dragon Quest XI S if the time allows it. Never stop gaming!!
@Sanquine
Recommendations would be Resi Village if you don’t care about trophies, GT7 if you like racing, Moss 1 & 2 if you like platformers and /or puzzle games (with minimal combat). Horizon is a good game despite people’s expectations not being met.
Also some little gems like Cosmonious High (would recommend this generally if you haven’t played much VR before). Now, if you play with friends Demeo and after the fall are good.
Drop in and out games like Rez, thumper and tetris are also worth a look.
Others have recommended the light brigade and townsman vr very highly but I haven’t played them yet.
Edit: oh, yeah, forgot the S&S 1&2 collection which are considered some of the best VR games ever. I just don’t like the genre.
I picked up Age of Wonders 4 after watching some previews a while ago and I’m loving it. Also will be continuing with Jedi Survivor.
Probably play more of Jedi Survivor and Dead Island 2 maybe some rounds on PGA 23 and a quick shot of the ps5 version of Spiderman ps5 version.
Jedi Survivor.
I had the ending spoiled on me a little by a moronic headline on another website. (One I never go to. Why did I even bother?)
And a wretched thumbnail and title on YouTube spoiled something else that happens in the game for me.
But it's still epic. Really enjoying it.
@Shepherd_Tallon Got lucky that I didn't fallen in any spoiler to this day. Everyone speaks wonders of the ending!!
PS5 Dead Island 2 Resident Evil 4 Dredge and Star Wars now its got some updates
@Sanquine gt7 and resident evil village are the two best games but there's also walking dead s&s 1&2,moss 1&2,pavlov,song in the smoke, call of the mountain, star wars,no man sky, demeo and light brigade which are all really good games
Having a PS3 session with Deadpool and a bit of Blur. Over on XSX I'm playing Ravenlok. Have a good weekend all!
@Northern_munkey
Got any tips on how not to blast an approach shot rolling off the green? I swear it's insane how much better I am at 2K golf compared to EA's golf. In 2K I'd say I'm actually pretty good for the most part but I hop on EA and I can't get used to the shot type mechanics they went with.
Plus maybe it's just me but the putting feels way more inconsistent than 2K. It feels like the ball will occasionally just come to a stop out of nowhere sometimes and other times will just fly off the green for me in EA. Again I have no issues like this on 2K for the most part.
Any tips would be appreciated! As for what I'm playing, Jedi Survivor.
Been playing Forbidden West since a month now for the second time and although I’m not even halfway through the huge world doesn’t bore me this time. It also helps that I changed some crucial things in my tv/PS5 setup, so only now I’m truly witnessing how gorgeous this game looks.
Immortals Fenyx Rising
I initially wasn't enjoying it as much as I had hoped since I hated Breath of the Wild, but after a couple of days I started enjoying it and I still am over 15 hours in. I don't mind the constant comedy, and I appreciate the fact that certain things seem to be easier to do.
Wrapping up RE4 Remake while getting lost in Final Fantasy 1 for the 1st time! Then I’ll hit up Demon Slayer the game before doing 2-6. I blame the latest sword smith arc on Crunchyroll for me purchasing that game.
This week I have completed Dead Island 2. As of right now, it’s in my top five for the GOTY discussion, behind Hi-Fi Rush, Octopath Traveler 2, and RE4 Remake. I really enjoyed the game from start to finish.
My only issue with the game is its lack of guidance on some side quests. Oftentimes, I was left wondering where to go to advance the plot, and it broke my immersion. Nonetheless, it is a fantastic game.
As for the weekend, I shockingly have the place to myself for two days because my wife and child will be out of town. This will be perfect to finally start Star Wars Jedi: Survivor (Xbox Series X).
I’ve also been reading more comics and graphic novels. I’m really enjoying the #1 issues of the new Dawn of DC. Most recently read was Shazam #1 which was wonderful.
Keeping it in the DC family, Peacemaker Tries Hard! #1 was brilliant and I’m looking forward to this current run, along with the upcoming Green Lantern and Titans run.
I also recently finished Kevin Smith’s Daredevil Guardian Devil and it was absolutely brilliant, and quite possibly one of the best graphic novels I’ve ever read. I’m now reading Frank Miller’s Daredevil Born Again, and then I’ll be moving on to Chip Zdarsky’s run into this superhero.
I am trying to get the remaining trophies in call of the mountain. Still an awesome game, and the vr game closest to tomb raider to date.
At the same time I really hope that there will be at some point such a VR game without all the invisible walls, and in which all the hand-holding is optional.
Currently playing Mafia 2: DE and I've been enjoying the game a lot. I love the Vito/Joe duo and it's also my first time playing Mafia 2.
@Korgon yeah i'm struggling a bit too..i find that bringing the landing circle back to just about halfway between myself and the hole helps. It all depends on the angle of the green and slope. I've unlocked quite a few different shot types as well such as high flop which works really well. I dont struggle with the putting to be honest and i would have unlocked that "from downtown" trophy about 35 times now🤣. Its a tough game and does not take any prisoners much like golf for real👍
Slay the spire and ea sports pga golf
Quest 2 (via PC)
Serious Sam: The First Encounter
This is some fun, if ridculously challenging, old school shooting iin VR. Not for the easily quesy, as it moves at a break neck pace. About 3/4s in, so hopefully can finish over weekend.
Vertigo: Remastered
The sequels release reminded me i have this sitting in my Steam library. Really cool and intresting game, plays like Half Life meets Rick and Morty. Great game design, pacing and world...and all created by a solo dev!
PS5
Horizon Burning Shores
Yep, pretty much more of the same, but good lord is this game likely the most beautiful thing thats ever been on a console, visually. Missions and plot good so far, been playing round 2 hours.
@Chaudy 2 really great and under appreciated games in my view
@KilloWertz I'll get judged for this but I much preferred it to breath of the wild but I like a bit more structure to a game. Open ended aimless objectives aren't for me
Atm it's either Spidey remastered, Grid Legends and Burning Shores. Need to finish RE4, Ishin and Powerwash soon too. I think Burning Shores needs doing the most as it's a juicy 130GB. Looking forward to Warhammer Boltgun this month
I've finally finished Horizon Forbidden West, not got enough funds for the dlc just yet, but its given me a break. So thought I'd actually give Control another go, as I didn't enjoy it the first time around.
I'm about 4hours in and enjoying it. But im not impressed with the graphics on PS5. I've got a LG C9 OLED and the picture quality is shocking. I've never played a game that I have to adjust the brightness so much just so I can see in the dark corridors. But the gameplay is fun and I'm enjoying the bonkers story.
Inbetween carry on power washing simulator.
@rusty82 yeah I'm pleasantly surprised. Glad I picked it up
@thefourfoldroot1 @ROTTIEMAN16 Thanks guys, I think I will start with RE:village (already have it), GT 7 (also have it) and Horizon CotM (in the future pavlov and SS 1/2).
@Northern_munkey
Indeed it's very challenging that's for sure. My guy is happy to walk away with a double bogey most of the time just like in real life!🤣
Finale Fantasy 13, as last weekend I just got to the point before Lighting and Hope fight for her Esper.
I’m playing not watching hat adornment.
Redfall on Game Pass. There is some mindless entertainment to be had. It is indeed buggy and some of the design choices are bizarre. There
is so much potential here that just feels wasted.
I’m going to try and complete it, which would be the first game I’ve seen to the end in a long while.
@Korgon lol i hear you..if you can unlock the pick skill you can get very aggressive out of the bunkers and stop very quickley. I hope i've been of some help but i'm still finding my feet with it. Pga2k3 is a walk in the park compared to this but i do relish the challenge.
Fire emblem path of radiance for the umpteenth time ⏲️
That Starscream picture for a moment made me think I'd somehow missed some Transformers related gaming news, ha. Makes me want to boot up Fall of Cybertron on my PS4.
Still on my Skyward Sword HD play through for the moment, after too many open words I really appreciate the game's linear but intricate environmenal puzzle design.
GT7 VR and yet again Skyrim VR!😛😋
Just finished burning shores after playing forbidden west from ps plus extra.
What a game!!! I enjoyed it a lot!
Now I'm going to return to sackboy to chill this week (eurovision week yehaa) before I start another big game.
1. Jedi Survivor
Jedi also finally motivated me to start watching Clone Wars using the Kotaku list (never seen the animated stuff)
https://www.kotaku.com.au/2022/12/the-essential-clone-wars-episodes-every-star-wars-fan-should-watch/
@rusty82 You obviously won't get judged by me since I already mentioned that I like this better than Breath of the Wild. It doesn't really solve a major problem I had with it being an empty open world, but it is easier to play, and I'm not talking about the difficulty level. I found the controls of Breath of the Wild to be somewhat convoluted, but I have had no issues with doing anything in Immortals. The lack of having to worry about different ammo types and breakable weapons obviously helps too.
I beat the RE4 Remake a few nights ago and I LOVED it. Absolutely fantastic remake.
There's a Splatfest going on for Splatoon 3 this weekend so I'll be playing a whole ton of that.
I'll also toss in a bit of Rogue Legacy 2 on PC here and there.
At the final chapter of Trails to Azure, which I hope to finish during the weekend before taking some slight gaming break before the new Zelda. So far I think this is my current game of the year, it’s amazing.
FINALLY got the platinum in Hogwarts Legacy. I really need more time to play... Just started RE4 Remake and it's fantastic! Hopefully I can finish it before Zelda comes out. Just reached chapter 5.
Rocket league with my C-3PO Fennec. The pull to this game is overwhelming at the moment (it must be the force). Looking forward to buying a PSVR 2 next week when it’s released to retail and I can finally use my vouchers.
Ghostwire Tokyo on PS5. I am really enjoying it, as it scratches all the itches for me. Shame I slept on it for so long.
@dirty_score amazing game.
I’ve just got the first one and I’ve been tempted to start it !
Will do soon
I'm playing GT7 PSVR2. I never get bored playing it. One of my favorite games.
Honkai Star Rail... It is sooooooo freaking good, I've been going pretty hard since launch and now I'm up to doing dailies and few Simulated World runs until I hit current endgame at TR40 and can start farming 5* gear.
Other than that I'm in a bit of a holding pattern waiting for Zelda to arrive.
@Agramonte Clone Wars is an amazing example of a show that grew alongside it's audience... Starts off very child focused and by the it becomes the best Star Wars has ever been.
Disney Speedstorm, really like thw game!
Still playing Midnight Suns, and likely will be until after the Storm dlc drops. Thus far the only dlc character I find to underwhelming is Morbius.
Also BF 2042. It’s in a good enough state right now I guess. Scratches the fps itch pretty good. It’d be nice if more people would actually play their role though 🤷♂️
PS5 here. I will be playing and i currently am:
-Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (i want to finish it before i'll buy fully patched and hopefully a little cheaper Survivor),
-Guardians of the Galaxy (after i it was recommended for me by a friend and after i read in the web that it is actually good),
-Grinding skins in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - Making my way deep into a giant hole in the ground.
Jetpack Joyride (Windows Phone) - Nearly done now, not much left to unlock.
@KilloWertz I hated the breakable weapons, they were all so fragile and was too much motion controlled puzzle's in the shrine's. I did enjoy it for a while but stopped before the end and never considered going back to it
Gran Turismo 7
@rusty82 I had thought I might enjoy Breath of the Wild more now that I am enjoying Immortals Fenyx Rising, but the controls are so much better in the latter that I doubt it would make much of a difference. Having to hold a button to go through a menu to select a weapon, then hold another button to change the ammo, and so on was extremely annoying to me. The lack of different ammo in Immortals just makes it so much more enjoyable to use the Bow.
Yakuza 5. I’ve played through Yakuza 1 through 4 since mid-March. Excited to catch up before LAD Gaiden comes out whenever that is.
@Shepherd_Tallon One of those were so obvious to me playing the game.
Im having an absolute blast with Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty. Just beat the final boss, so wrapping up side missions and trophies for the platinum, then may genuinely play it through again on the harder setti g as its bloody brilliant. Havnt played any of the Nioh's so may hit them up after.
Just watching the credits roll after finishing the final main mission in Burning Shores. Excellent game, can't wait to see where they go for the third one.
I’m trying to complete the 25 Evacs on BF2042. Note the word “trying”
Love the Starscream coronation pic
On Xbox I’m still working my way through Hi-Fi Rush. It’s still great. I’m also starting another play through of Enslaved Odyssey to the West. On PS5 I’m jumping between H Burning Shores and WRC Generations. And on Switch when I need something completely different I hop into Slay the Spire. Have a great weekend!
Platinumed Fallen Order yesterday, and started Survivor today, which I’m having a great time with. Thankfully the performance issues aren’t as bad as I was expecting. Oh, and watching the original Star Wars trilogy too, Empire tonight!
Well this weekend originally was gonna be some Kirby’s Return to Dreamland Deluxe but I recently (like last 10 minutes) discovered IGN has a written guide for Advance Wars 1 Mission 13 Mighty Kanbei which has had me frustrated and despising Advance Wars for a week. So honestly I think I might just give Advance Wars one more try and hope I can beat this mission once and for all. Over on PlayStation I’m thinking of doing more Atomic Heart. Funny that seems to be the combo when I have my most frustrating nights. As for the anime of the weekend I’m thinking more My Home Hero and The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses. Another weekend where irs a long weekend with a day off on Monday so maybe I’ll finally conquer Xenoblade 3’s infamous chapter 5 as well as finally cracking fully into some Jedi Survivor. Happy weekend y’all and let’s all have some terrific gaming.
I’m not like, ‘down with the monarchy!’ or anything but it isn’t the same since the Queen passed away. I was going to try and watch a bit of the coronation but I was looking after my two Nephews this weekend, so that went out of the window. We went to watch Guardians of the Galaxy 3 instead (amazing btw) and spent two hours at Total Ninja. Oh and lots of Fortnite. The new Star Wars collab is brilliant.
@beebs720 ....did it leave a disc shaped mark on your back ? 🤣🤣.........
Sorry
@KingPev 😂😂 I left that wide open, well done!
Honkai Star rail, guardian games destiny 2
I'm still slowly playing my day one copy of Hogwarts Legacy (PS5), keep getting distracted by real life or work.
Hoping to have it done before June, so I can focus on Horizon: Forbidden West + Burning Shores DLC and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order + Survivor.
@Mintie
Still on season 1, and enjoying it. The animation style made me stay away back in the day.
Great that it will only get better as the seasons progress.
