We’re on the cusp of 2024’s latter gaming season, with everything from IP tie-ins to unexpected sequels. So our video producer Aaron is here to break down his most anticipated releases for the remainder of 2024.
You can watch our full discussion on the biggest and most exciting games of 2024 over on the Push Square YouTube channel, ranging from PSVR2 titles to open-world giants.
Arguably 2024 is not quite as stacked as what we had in 2023, especially concerning big releases. Of course stand-outs like Star Wars Outlaws and Astro Bot come to mind, but compared to last year which had Spider-Man 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, Alan Wake 2 to name a few, it does feel a little bit quieter this year.
With that said there are still plenty of exciting releases on the way. Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 is among many of the teams’ most anticipated – a Gears of War-esque third-person co-op shooter. Then there’s Life Is Strange: Double Exposure, which brings back original protagonist Max Caulfield with a new supernatural murder mystery.
So with everything from highly-requested entries in long-running series to sparkly new VR experiences, let us know your most anticipated PS5 releases for the remainder of 2024 down in the comments below.

Astro Bot and Dragon Age The Veilguard 💜
Astro Bot, Metaphor Re Fantazio, YS X, Dragon Quest 3 HD and Visions of Mana are what I'm looking forward to the most on PS5.
Kingdom Come Deliverance II. Loved the first and can't wait for the second one. DA Veilguard I'm mixed on, though the re-reveal trailer sucked everything afterwards has been better. However, Inquisition was reviewed well, so I picked it up near launch and it was the worst in the series for me, so I'm going to hold off a month or two after release to see what my mates say about it.
I’m counting down the release to DR:DR in my forum signature, personally I’m also invested in Lollipop’s release and will also likely get Sonic x Shadow and DBZ Sparking Zero.
Alan Wake was last year? Damn, time sure flies.
Star Wars Outlaws and Assassin's Creed Shadows for me. Been a long time waiting for Sengoku Japan or feudal Japan at all (and no, Ghost of Tsushima bored me to tears).
Dragon Age if it doesn't end up delayed. And I think that's it.
So is Phantom blade zero definitely not coming out this year? feels bad if that's the case
For me, Wukong, Astro Bot, Life is Strange, Sparking Zero, and AC Shadows are the rest of the year. If Concord gets its release together, I’d add it. Plucky Squire if it does release this year. Silent Hill, I’d like to say I’m looking forward to it, but it’s Bloober, so I’m wincing, especially because A Short Message was the worst thing I’ve played all year. On the fence about Metaphor too…
And I don’t think I’ll have time for it, but it’s hard not to want to get DQ3 with Toriyama passing…. It’s such a good game too!
I really wanna get hyped for Veilguard; However, after being burned by DA2 and Inquisition (ntm Bioware in general), its just not coming right now....There is some solace though - I remember during the 00s, every Batman game was just awful until a little game called Arkham Asylum released and the rest as they say is history 🙂
Astrobot and Space Marine, so close to each other :x
Dragon age the veilguard.dragon age inquisition is a masterpiece.atro bot.black myth wu kong.assasin creed shadows etc.word up son
Hopefully Kingdom Come 2 is an improvement, because I bought that first turd at launch and felt hustled. Doing chores around my house was more fun than playing that game. I think I turned it off to change my cats' litter boxes and never went back. Really excited for the new Dragon Age and Astro Bot though.
@UltimateOtaku91 It's supposed to be a bit of a lean second half of 2024, but seeing that list of games actually paints a different picture for me. That's just the JRPGs still coming (+ Astro), not even the many other titles.
Even in slower years, I simply can't keep up with the sheer volume of great games releasing.
@Lup haha, GoT wasn’t my thing either.
KINGDOM COME DELIVERANCE II
STAR WARS OUTLAWS
ASSASSIN'S CREED SHADOWS
keeping my eye on Black Myth and some others too, like Gothic is supposedly this year... I think we hear something about it in August, but it doesn't feel like it is really coming out any time soon for some reason.
The BBeg of the second half of the year is by far power rangers rita rewind, maybe became my goty ( and take the actual place of like a dragon Infinite wealth), antonblast also looks alwesome.
For me personally this year is more stacked.
Astro, Metaphor, YSX and DQIII are all day one for sure.
Only thing I really care about is Star Wars Outlaws.
I know it's a rerelease, but I hyped for Marvel Vs. Collection.
One game eclipses everything:
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II
The world they created is so real and grounded in our knowledge of European history and culture. The attention to detail in architecture alone has made Kingdom Come-tourism a thing and people are posting their visits to in-game locations.
I have myself recently been to Poland and visited an old and still functioning bee-farm and apple orchard, and I felt taken back to the aesthetics of KCD. I am looking forward to really taking my time with this title as the first one received plenty of cool DLC. This time I am jumping right in day one - it'll make for a different experience for sure.
Other worthy mentions:
PSVR2 titles Alien Incursion and Metro -
if they are good I will relapse into VR gameplay something that flatscreen experiences has wrestled me away from ATM.
Dragon Age: Veilguard - I remain sceptical about the gameplay of this title and how it would affect the story, but I will be picking this up if the quality of the game is deemed high enough by reviewers.
Star Wars Outcast - my backup if Veilguard isn't up to par with Inquisition. I like the idea of an immersive world where my adventures level up my playing experience.
Metaverse Phantasio (title incorrect) - Atlus has my attention after the great Royal Persona 5. If the game is a 9/10 or better I will, instead of an eventual replay of Persona with focus on Royal characters, delve into a new experience altogether.
If one or more of these titles simply don't cut it I have a backlog of yet-to-own titles including Jedi Survivor, Spider-Man 2 and GOW: Ragnarok. No Man's Sky VR, Dragon's Dogma 2, FF 7: Rebirth, Legendary Tales VR, Shin Megamix Tensei 5, Citizen Sleeper, and the list is long with many VR titles I want to give a try.
TOO MANY GAMES
Most of what I'm interested will be coming to the Switch or the Switch's successor, I'm sure, besides Astrobot. I was surprised to see that AC: Shadows looks to have some decent stealth in it (they've almost caught up with stealth games from 1998!!!), but zero chance I'm getting a Ubisoft game new. Star Wars looks like it has some great atmosphere, but again...I'll wait until it is all patched up and $40 at most. I'm most interested in Mahvel and Switch releases.
I am being drawn in by Space Marine so will no doubt end up picking that one up now too but I am really looking forward to SW Outlaws, Astrobot and Alan Wake 2 all pre-ordered!!
YS X, Visions of Mana, and of course: Astrobot!
Metaphor and Echoes of Wisdom. Plucky Squire and Silksong as well if they actually launch.
Dragon age I'd love to be won over by but I have my doubts
