Topic: Are PS5 controllers compatible with PS4?

So I have been wanting to dust of my PS4 and tackle a few games on my backlog that I havent got around to problem is my PS4 controllers have seen better days. One doesnt hold a charge anymore, another the left analogue stick isnt working and another the R2 button doesnt work. I have been looking for a PS4 controller problem is everywhere I have been too, Target, Bestbuy, even places like Gamestop and Walmart dont seem to carry new ones anymore. Gamestop sells used which I am hesitant to buy I know Gamestop's track record of just taking anything for trade in and not checking it to see how it works.

Anyway my option was purchasing a PS5 controller, but due to the price of them I wanted to know if they would work on a PS4 before I buy one. Thanks for any info.

@Tasuki You need an adapter in order to pair a PS5 controller to a PS4 console. They do not work out of the box.
