Topic: Ignored users

I just checked my ignore list and I had 9-10 people on the list - I don’t think I accidentally ignored that many people. I might have negged a post they made but I don’t really use the upvote/downvotes much so I couldn’t have given them that many downvotes. One in particular talks a lot of cr@p (a bit like me) but I like reading that they have to say and I thought they’d gone AWOL.

So what’s up, they get automatically ignored if you downvote once or twice?

I've not had any problems like that. There were only two people in my blocked list, and they are both ones that I blocked on purpose. I occasionally use the downvote button.

as for if the site automatically adds people well i guess it's possible if you downvote a certain person enough it would autoblock them

EDIT: i just checked my list and i have 3 but given how many people i have blocked on other sites the fact i have only ever felt the need to block only 3 is pretty good

It's easy to accidentally hit the ignore button. Although there should be a prompt confirming that you, indeed, want to ignore that person before they're put on the list.

Maybe you had a bad day and don't remember?

@kyleforrester87 @Arugula The downvote button doesn't ignore people no matter how many times you downvote a user's post. The downvote is more for Ant and Sammy and behind the scenes stuff.

More then likely you hit the ignore button by accident and didn't realize it, I know I have.

I didn't even know you could do that, in fairness wouldn't have much use for it

I do believe that when it was introduced Ants mentioned it would automatically block users who you consistently downvoted (I could totally be remembering this wrong), which kind of makes sense but i just don’t think I’ve used downvote enough on the particular person who was ignored for that to warrant happening.

Alternatively I did accidentally hit the ignore button, but you do get a warning (I think?) and I don’t think I’ve done that 9 times without realising. I have accidentally ignored people in the past and immediately unblocked them again.

Just to say, none of the forum regulars were this person I had downvoted

I find it is really easy to accidentally hit the ignore button when you go to quote or tag someone in the comments of an article. And yeah you should get a warning message if you do press ignore.

I was ignoring one of my bezzies on here and didn't even know it! Must have been months. I 100% would never have ignored him. Then he completely left the sites user base a few months after I found out.

I still wonder what happened to @fight_teza_fight if you are out there mate let us know.

Just checked and fortunately I'm not ignoring anyone.

Maybe If someone ignores you it automatically makes you ignore them back?

@themcnoisy yeah I was thinking that too, maybe all those people had ignored me 😂

Teza has been around recently though. Commented on 4th December.

@kyleforrester87 currently there is no auto-ignore, so it's likely that these were either in error or you forgot about them. I could have seen when they were added to the ignore list, but now they are gone I can't tell you. Do let me know if you notice anything else like this in the future though

@antdickens cool, really weird as I just can’t believe I ignored that many people (and hit yes on the are you sure option) without noticing but I guess I did 🤷‍♂️ Unless someone’s been messing about on my account!

I checked and I haven't ignored anyone... which is incorrect as I regularly ignore @kyleforrester87 Sometimes even hourly.
