@Scrummer Hmmm I'm not sure to be honest. I actually don't think all the best games are M rated (there are a few good horrors but plenty of great games aren't horror or gory/violent) so you would be Ok there. However, I find that a lot of PSVR games are a quite short experiences but generally have a $18-$30 price tag (depending on the game). Often, they are only 1-5 hours long. There is some replayability on some games but at the same time, not hours and hours worth. Also most VR games are digital if that is an issue. There are some good sales and you can get some great games on sale right now for under $15 but with the exception of SKyrim, there aren't really any huge games. If you can only get a couple of games a year, you might get bored of them.

@KALofKRYPTON Ok, thanks! I feel like my best bet would be to find somewhere I could try it out, and then decide for myself, as you mentioned.

@Rudy_Manchego It's good to know that there aren't actually many great games M-rated/horror. And the price tag of the games is really what scares me, but I figure if I can get a headset for cheap around Black Friday, with a couple of games also for cheap, then that would probably leave me set until Christmas, where I could probably get a gift card or a couple more games.

@Scrummer If you can get it cheap at black frodau and get some PSN vouchers for Christmas, I imagine you'll be able to pick up some great titles in the January sales!

So, being a huge Rick and Morty fan, I picked up and started the Virtual Rickality game and in my opinion, this has not been ported well from PC to PSVR. I need to play around with my setup but the move controllers and camera just don't allow for the precision the game demands. I got frustrated after an hour or so. Might be my camera placement but I wouldn't recommend.

@LieutenantFatman Yes, it's right up there with the best VR games. How they managed to make the entire game playable in VR and keep the level of visuals is amazing. Play with the "comforts" turned off if you can. Being able to see all around you is much better.

@SoulChimera @LieutenantFatman It looks absolutely amazing.

But my brain cant cope. Banging headache 2 laps in.

If you can cope with the motion sickness there are so many great psvr games anyone 'on the fence' needs to jump off that fence. I can only play games were you are still and looking around. Batman Vr, Statik, Tumble blocks, vr playroom, destruction ball. All worth the price of entree.

Gutted for you, I don't know what I'd do if it gave me motion sickness. It's such a good game.

But yeah, you are right, I can't recommend VR enough to anyone. It's such an amazing experience to be actually IN the games.

@SoulChimera @themcnoisy After some of the latest VR game announcements I'm really finding myself wanting to finally buy PSVR. I've never tried any kind of VR before though so I have no idea if I'll get motion sickness or not. The only time I've ever seen a VR headset I could test out was at Best Buy but there were people standing around watching so I didn't want to try.

@ArkhamKnerd Just buy it and you wont be disappointed. Even with motion sickness you can play all of these; Batman Vr, Statik, Tumble blocks, vr playroom, destruction ball. They are all in my collection and are fine. I cant comment on any others but will buy some more vr games later in the year.

Do a lot of games need Move controllers? The only bundles I see are Skyrim VR + Move controllers ($250) and Doom VFR with no controllers ($200). I think I'd rather have Doom than Skyrim but getting the controllers seem like a much better deal.

@ArkhamKnerd Yes, a lot do, but a lot also give you the option of using a DS. However, for me, the move controllers are a must have. As well as a good pair of over the ear headphones. All adds to the experience.

@Simon_Fitzgerald I havent. I will plan a VR gaming day with you though Si if you fancy? Maybe in 3-4 weeks.

@themcnoisy I’d be up for that, not sure when as I’ve been crazily busy these past few weeks but if you see me online just drop me a message. It’s usually best for me on Saturdays, can’t do this week but maybe next.

So I’m thinking about getting VR over Christmas, so a couple questions.
1. What are the best VR games? What makes the system worth owning?
2. Can I use a gaming headset, like turtle beach headphones, the ones that fully cover your ears with it?

Jaz007

Rudy_Manchego

@Jaz007 Hey dude,

1. I would personally get the demo disc and maybe PSVR worlds if you are new to VR and you can decide on what you like and purchase. Everyone takes to VR differently and some games suit more than others.

2. I think yes as long as they are wired. You need to plug in the wire to the headset.

@Jaz007 for me my favourite games are Astro Bot which is a great platformer that plays out all around you and even gets yiu involved for the bosses genuinely great game. Other than that the likes of Resident Evil VII and Wipeout if you already have them. If its a bit more interaction youre after then I'd say Job Simulator and in particular I Expect You To Die which is a great James Bond style spoof that I highly recommend with plenty of ways to solve each mission and fun interactions with countless objects in the game, another would be Statik which is another great puzzle game that has you fully exploring the dualshock controller as you attempt to free yourself. You'll likely get VR Worlds with it which is worth it just for London Heist and a full length version is coming soon and finally download the Playroom VR which is free and contains a few fun titles that can be played multiplayer.

Older than I care to remember but have been gaming since owning a wooden Atari 2600 and played pretty much everything inbetween.
