Well, I should be getting this sometime soon. Hopefully this week Should have got it last week, but after Father's Day cards, presents, and birthday stuff for my sister, was basically broke. :/
Eileen's my gal! I need to practice my offensive evade though. I sometimes accidentally go into her interrupting move (her stance change) when I try to pull it off.
I should be able to play a little later if you want to. Maybe 4:30 EST or 9:30 your time (I believe).
@James, yea, very sorry about that. I came home a little later than expected. When I signed on, you just came off. Hopefully, I'll be on for most of Sunday.
Vanessa is extremely powerful and dangerous - great throws, fantastic range, devastating combos and some really good mix-ups. I once tried to master her on VF4 but she's very complex, what with two (now three!) stances and so many varieties of attack.
My advice for fighting a Vanessa player is to poke as much as you can: low punch and standing kick are your staples against Vanessa (and most players, tbh). She has a few charge moves that are very difficult to read/react to (as I'm sure you've seen), so your best bet is to use a well-timed quick poke to interrupt. She counters standing punch when the stick is neutral so a smart Vanessa opponent will happily parry all day long.
In terms of beating her, she's not too heavy so it's all about aerial combos. Sidestep her long distance kicks and float her with your quickest safe float - if your timing's good you should land it on counter, so try a short knee and go from there.
I tried using Vanessa today. She's a very complex character. Like what James said, if she's standing still, she'll parry just about any standing pokes. Not sure if she can parry EX Low pokes though.
Anyway, I went on a massive win streak today in Ranked Matches. Went from 6th Kyu to 2nd Kyu in about 45 minutes.
