Topic: What PS3 game(s) are you currently playing?

Been ticking-over on my Prince of Darkness run on Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and reckon I’m just about on the home-stretch now. Hasn’t been too tough as of yet, long may that continue.

Been carrying on with my trapezohedron farm on Final Fantasy XIII too and in four days of adamantoise-slaughter… not a one! 🤨

@colonelkilgore I strangely never played Alice: Madness Returns back in the day. After looking up the review of it here, I'll probably track down a copy of it online at some point and add it to my PS3 backlog.

@KilloWertz so it’s like a mix between a mascot 3d platformer with a character-action game… wrapped up in an awesome Tim burton-esque aesthetic (more Sweeney Todd-Burton than Alice… -Burton though as it goes). Definitely worth a go!

****ing annoying morning! Spent it navigating the final stretch of my last playthrough on Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2 (which is fine) but got to the final boss (Satan) and after a few failed attempts (he is hard-as-**** on Prince of Darkness) I reloaded my checkpoint and it threw me back to where I started my morning session (about 3 or 4 hours previously) 🤬 fuming!

Well that’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 fully wrapped up. I wont say that I’ll miss it 😏… but I think there’s enough redeeming qualities to it, to make it worthwhile for fans of the genre. The combat in general is good, sometimes great… but sometime bull**** too. The attempts at a fully 3d metroidvania basically work for the most part but it is a lot easier to get lost here than on a 2D map. Great OST as did the original and an interesting direction to take the narrative. Also, the final boss fight on Prince of Darkness was incredible! A massive difficulty-spike but once you begin to acclimate, it’s Character-action combat at its best imo.

@colonelkilgore Thanks for the description of Alice: Madness Returns. That definitely sounds up my alley. After looking a couple of days on eBay, I bought a copy of it.

I'm not sure when I'll play it, but it's in the process of entering my backlog.

Now that I finally finished one of two long games I'd been chipping away at for over a month, I've been able to get a breath of fresh air and start something new. And I decided I was in the mood to try Bayonetta. I'm not far in at all so far, but I'm having a great time and am very happy with my decision. I'm also somewhat surprised about how much I'm having a good time with the story and characters as I assumed that would've largely taken a backseat to perfecting the gameplay in this type of game. Maybe I'll eat those words as it goes on, but I'm having a blast so far.

After what seems like aeons… I finally got my next (fourth) trapezohedron drop in Final Fantasy XIII 😃. The bad news is I actually need 6, not the 5 I initially thought I required for the Treasure Hunter trophy 😔

@Gunnerzaurus the art design and OST on both are at a really high level to be fair… particularly on the original. I heard that the budget of the sequel got severely clipped… and it does feel that way a bit if I’m honest but there is still some good stuff there. Enjoy

5th trap drop on Final Fantasy XIII 🥳 and second playthrough on Alice: Madness Returns wrapped up.

Real glad about the 5th trap… it means that I can finally move on with completing the remaining Ci’eth stone missions. Then there’ll be another mat farm (though nowhere near as arduous as the one for traps)… then a further bit of mopping up. Been ticking-over on this since the beginning of September, so I’m feeling some relief that I can move to the next stage of earning this plat. Talking of which, it’s an absolute beast… cant believe it’s only 2.2% ultra rare tbh. I mean that does sound rare like but I honestly can’t believe that many people have gone through all this! 😅

Final Fantasy fans are a stubborn lot.

Mad about Sonic fans… that’s one I don’t get tbh. And that’s from someone who named their garden hedgehog Sonic a couple months back 🤣

@Th3solution @PorkChopExpress don’t know if I’m thinking this particular series due to my love for it or if I’m right that it’s fans are extremely fervent too… but I’d add Metal Gear Solid fans to that list. Probably some others too tbh.
