And, slightly off subject but the game cover prompted this question, do you play your games in Spanish, English, Arabic… or something else? (I’m always fascinated by this in my multi-lingual compadres)
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@Yousef- I do have Dante’s Inferno but have already cleared it from the backlog… think it was last year I played it. Good game but I was surprised that I actually enjoyed Wolverine and am enjoying Lords of Shadow more than it… having heard that it was the best God of War clone.
@Th3solution pardon me for responding to a question with a question, but I’m curious as to what promoted the question?
I’m not fluently trilingual so Spanish is not always my option for a language setting unless I’m confident I can keep up with the pace (this was an issue I had with English 13 years ago, I’m sure I’ll overcome it again with ease) but I do feel comfortably a step above most my peers in the language and can comfortably type in it, look up stuff, comprehend text and so on.
The Arabic portion of the question unfortunately is not one I can provide a satisfactory answer for. Arabic localization do not give me sufficient enough material to substantiate a lot of claims I would make. For example, my preferred way of experiencing old Disney cartoons would be Arabic. My preferred way of experiencing some other old cartoons would also be Arabic. Games? It gets a little tricky. Arabic subbed games do not have enough of a precense to give me enough material to base my answers on. So I cannot give you a complete and satisfactory answer. 999: Zero Escape has an Arabic fan-patch, but
I’m not that interested in emulating NDS games outside of the Phoenix Wright Spanish official localization (thanks for reminding by the by) (and screw Capcom for not making it available on modern hardware) (and also danganronpa on psp has a Spanish fan patch. Thx for reminding me to download that)
I’m not that interested in the game because I didn’t like it that much. Plus I have zero benefit (pun intended) in replaying it in Arabic when I already understand every single English word it portrays (trust me, I remember words I didn’t understand in 2019 that I now fully comprehend)
For Arabic dubs? Frankly I don’t like most Arabic dubs in video games. Lara Croft? Horizon? Uncharted? Assassin creed? I dislike all of them. Stiff voice acting. They also non-spoken Arabic, a dialect which homogenizes all 22 Arabic dialects into one, but I’m already fluent in most Arabic dialects. I wish they had Egyptian, Saudi, Syrian, Jordanian, Palestinian, Lebanese or Emirati Arabic as I am fluent in all these and understand all of them, plus the more obscure dialects. But no, they always choose the homogeneous MSA (modern standard Arabic) which is too stiff and cartoony. They sound like geeks.
Hopefully my answer satisfied you. : )

@Yousef- 😂 Ah, I see, so allow me to answer your question of a question with a question — I’m curious how you became interested in Spanish and whether that’s a common language used in Kuwait?
But to answer the question from the question about my question 😅 — the question came from the box art picture you posted is in Spanish, so I thought perhaps that represents the actual version that you purchased. And if you purchased the Spanish version, my brain wondered, if that was intentional or whether it was just maybe the version that was available at the cheapest price and maybe you can switch freely between Spanish and English and you just play whichever dub is available. But in reality, maybe you just grabbed that picture from the internet and it just happens to be the Spanish box art and you actually own the English boxed version. Or maybe you have it digital with no cover art and description at all. It could be a lot of possibilities in my brain. 🤔
When you pull up your PS5 Home Screen is it in English or Arabic?
I understand fully the localization issues with different dialects and how that can sour the experience. When watching English dubbed anime I can understand how the quality of dub can vary from the original intent. And your English is so good that I assume you catch 100% of the content if you just leave it in the original English. But sometimes I think people like to hear something in their native language, but I don’t know. I’m cursed with being a native English speaker.

@Th3solution alright, this will be in two parts. Second part comes after I eat (no pre ordering require)
This first part is just some house cleaning, basically, there’s no deep reason for posting Spanish cover art. Spanish as a third language became so normal to me, that I did not even notice I posted the Spanish version. It didn’t look foreign or stand out as odd to me. Looked normal as normal can be.
French is actually the third most common language here. Spanish has little to no precense in Kuwait. I’m interested in out of my own heartfelt passion.
Ahhhh I am very glad you asked that question about the ps5 homescreen thing. As a thank you, I’m going to respond to you with this beautiful picture of my favorite Japanese pro wrestler, Yano Toru, giving you a big ol shoulder shrug. Because I don’t have a ps5.

@Yousef- Ah… got it.
Well, after your delicious beetroot stew or whatever, you can expound, but how about your… PS3 Home Screen? (an appropriate question for this thread)? And your PS4? (only adjacently appropriate for this thread). I’m not sure what the options are, but you probably can have the menus in Arabic? Feeling really sheltered as an American right now, but I’m moderately sure that there’s several language option on those older machines too. I’m just not sure about the Arabic options.
And that’s interesting about Spanish being just an extra passion. It’s far and wide the 2nd most common language in the U.S. I had a similar discussion on another thread around here several weeks ago so apologies for repeating, but there’s actually some American cities where Spanish is actually the majority language.

@Th3solution BEETROOT WITH HUMMUS, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
Ahem, anyways.
for the first paragraph, Arabic was never an option on ps3 menus. Arabic was only added on the ps4-onwards. And ONLY ps4-onwards. No Xbox, no switch, just PlayStation. Wasn’t available at launch either, was added around 2014-ish. (To further expand on this, I used my ps4 without really knowing how to change language options and didn’t know it had Arabic and didn’t believe it for a while. By the time I found out, the information was of no use to me. Because English became so second nature to me, an Arabic menu option was no longer seen as necessary so I kept on going with my usual gamergirl life.)
For the second paragraph, I’m actually fairly acquainted with Spainish’s presence in the states, with a lot of towns in North America speaking monolingual Spanish. Matter of fact, I’ve anctuwlly encountered a few monolingual Spanish monolingual myself in the wild! Unfortunately, since they were an active discord user… and I wasn’t, the age gap was pretty noticeable. Mentally too. So I felt we didn’t have a lot in common.
Fun fact, the number of Spanish speaking countries is close to 20, just like how there’s 22 Arab countries!

I think ive pretty much got all the games i want for my PS3 collection and thankfully i did it years ago when they were really cheap. they seem to sell for 3 or four times what i paid for them. I did pick up a copy of LA Noire the other day it was in a bundle i got off facebook marketplace and wasnt worth anything trade in so ive kept it
@colonelkilgore I am actually replaying Remember me through again at the moment. love the setting, style and story yes it not perfect but a bit of an underrated gem in my opinion.
@trev666 yeah it was a nice surprise that game and has made me feel quite excited to play their subsequent games Vampyr and Banishers. Glad you’re enjoying it too.
@Bentleyma well enjoy the download speeds. Ps3 is more fun physically because of those but hopefully you have fun either way.
