Topic: Modern Warfare Remastered --OT--

So with the news that Raven Software will be heavily supporting this game as it's own yearly installment in the CoD franchise I figure it might be time for its own thread. Also we can keep the IW talk in the IW thread and the MWRM here and we don't end up having a jumbo mess on our hands.

From all that I have been hearing this just might be my main CoD game for the year. Alot of my worries that this was going to be a sloppy remaster.have pretty much been taken away.

Strange as it sounds this is the main reason I am getting IW. I like that they have kept the original feel of the game so it will play like it did before. Done a good job on updating it graphically as well.

One little gripe I have though is that some retailers are giving 30 days early access while others do not.

@dryrain: 30 days early access is for the campaign only (NOT MP) and only if you have paid in full. If you opt to buy (and pay) for the Legacy versions - inc the Digital store version, you will be able to get 'early' access to the campaign. Only certain physical retailers are participating - Gamestop (US) is one but not sure of any UK retailers. If you pay in full with the participating retailer, they will send you an 'early access' code but only if you buy by Oct 4th (I think) - this is also only for PS4 owners.

Its only the campaign so not that bothered. I have a PS4 Pro on order and hear this will be getting some 'Pro' mode so will play it sometime after that.

I did have this game on pre-order but after hearing the news yesterday I cancelled. I think its shady of Activision to do this and not tell the consumers at point of sale. This game is really an add on to Infinate warfare which it was never sold as. Its a shame because I would have enjoyed playing the remaster but simply not worth paying £60-£70 for two games one of which I would never play and can not sell. As a company they can choose how they sell games but the consumer should be told that Modern Warfare does not work without the disc.

@dryrain: The game has ALWAYS been marketed as 'bonus' content to the main Infinite Warfare. Not once have Activision said this is a stand-alone or will be 'separate' from IW. The ONLY way to get the game is by purchasing the Legacy editions of CoD:IW! You ASSUMED you would be able to buy the Legacy edition and sell the IW disc.

In a lot of ways, its like buying the Prestige editions of games and keeping the fridge, night vision goggles, radio controlled vehicles etc but selling the game. The only difference here is that instead of some 'tacky' item that gathers dust, Activision has decided to give us a remaster of CoD4. I really hope its accessible through the main menu of CoD:IW ONLY - like switching from Campaign to MP to Zombies.

It certainly won't bother me! I have the Legacy Pro physical edition pre-order and looking forward to playing both on my Pro!

The way I look at it is its like Zombies. You can't play Zombies without the full game. I think people who are making a big deal out of this are just looking for an excuse to hate Activision and IW because right now it's the cool thing to do.

Anyway with that said anyone know at what time the early access starts? And how do we get it if we preordered a physical copy? If we do indeed need the disc how is it going to work?

Eurogamer are reporting that the install size for the Infinite Warfare+Modern Warfare RM is 130Gb......that's a lot of hard drive space, not including patch sizes and future dlc :/ my 500gb hard drive is looking smaller by the minute

@Hego: I know right! I hat to think how much space Destiny takes up too and there is NO way I am deleting that as to reinstall the game, with all the expansions necessary to play the latest content and updates as well, would take a week! I have Titanfall 2 due this month and the Legacy Pro edition arriving before I get my PS4 Pro. I think I will have to start to look around for a larger internal for the 10th November but it would be so much easier if Sony added external HDD support. Just waiting to see if they are still limiting it to 2TB.

When my XB1s arrives on Friday, I can just unplug my 5TB external from my original and plug that into my Gears 4 console giving me nearly 7TB storage - although its more like 6TB with the OS and of course a bit lost due to formatting.

They'll sell it separately down the line. Guaranteed after the backlash this has caused.

If they have any sense, they'll realise with the popularity of this remaster that they HAVE to come back down to earth, quite literally, story-wise.

I really like the visuals have been updated. not a remake but not a lazy port either and enough upgrades and improvements have been made to make it worthwhile. I will pick it up when it is sold separately.

@daveofduncan: @Retro1994: How can they sell it sperately when you will need the IW disc to even access MWRM?

@Tasuki: Given enough bashing from fans, they can easily release a version of it on a separate disc 😂 very very easily! It's a program on a computer..It's definitely not rocket science!

Once they get numbers they want for IW, I wouldn't put it past them to then release it to the masses to gain some more £££'s. In turn rubbing everyone who jumped first thing the wrong way. Hilarious!

@daveofduncan: Honestly it all depends on if they plan on doing remasters a yearly thing. If that's the case I don't see them burning that bridge. Anyway this thread isn't to discuss Activision's business plans so I will end it here so this thread doesn't get derailed.

The remaster only requires the IW disc to be inserted not installed so anyone worried about HD space can just not install IW if they only want to play the remaster.

For me the remaster game was only added to boost sales for IW so if it does not do that then it will come out seperatly at a later date.

So it seems that some people are able to access the MP now. I have to wait since Gamestop won't release the game to me till later today but those that have a digital copy it seems can play now.

I've a digital copy and I can't. I wish i could, im waiting patiently for midnight.

@TomKongPhooey: Yeah some people can it seems some can't. A friend of mine has been on it all day. Maybe they are letting some people on now so there isn't a servers problems later on at midnight when everyone can log on.

i got on about 20mins after posting. only getting a break now lol. its just like i remember it. great fun. Well worth the dosh and wait. It's a classic and it shines.
