Well with all the news buzzing around and an official trailer coming out tomorrowit seems it might be time for an OT of Infinity Ward newest entry in the CoD series.
In case you didn't know this past weekend on the Nuk3town Map in Black Ops 3 several easter eggs have been going on to tease for Infinite Warfare, including a reveal of supposedly the main antagonist and protagonist.
Several rumors have surfaced as well as to that we won't be fighting aliens and a more boots to the ground approach. Also according to Infinity Ward, this game will revolutionize the CoD games as much as CoD 4 did. What that is suppose to mean is anyone's guess.
Anyway free feel to discuss rumors, hopes and once we know more the game here.

@Tasuki: Well all those 'Easter eggs' point to an official release today at 4pm with IW twitch streaming 30 mins later... Stops of lot of the rumours any speculations - with any luck!
Personally, I would be happy with BO3 type movement as its injected a bit of pace into the game with compromising the flow (like AW's movement did). I do think a traditional Boots on the Ground CoD may feel a bit slow and dated after BO3...
@BAMozzy: I kinda know what you mean but to be honest I am not to fond of some of the movement in Black Ops 3 particularly the wall running and moon jumping (as I call it). I know it's a big part of Black Ops 3 but I just can't get it down lol. I do however like the sliding and increase speed. So for me a boots to the ground experience makes me excited since I can't really go back and play those older CoD games, which makes me also excited for the MW remaster.
But I guess we will see what all the hoopla will be about here in a few hours.

@Tasuki: The new movement in BO3 is more than just Wall Running and Moon Jumping. Its what this has enabled that speeds up the game overall. Its also enabled more 'gun on gun' action because you are always able to fire. Take Skyjacked/Hijacked as an example. In the past if you wanted to get up to the second floor of the buildings, there was only 2 ways, the internal stairs or a ladder at the back. If you went up the ladder, there was no way you could defend yourself. This was common on all 'Boots on the Ground' game-play - every time you tried to climb up ladders or up onto things, you were unable to shoot. Getting from one side of the map to the other was 'slower' too. Skyjacked, although identical plays a lot quicker to Hijacked, same with Verge. The ability to boost jump into the second floor windows speeds up the game and allows you to 'surprise' campers. In Hijacked it was basically a camp fest with people sat on the second floor picking each other off with someone or some equipment protecting the stairs or ladder - the only way up.
Wall running in general is a 'risky' movement as it leaves you exposed and an easy target but if you don't get seen, you can flank and get into the action a lot quicker.
You can go back and play these games. I am sure you have last gen consoles so could pick BO2, MW3, BO or MW2 (I don't think these are hacked or broken) BO2, I believe, still has quite an active community but the further you go back, the lower the community playing. You could also pick up Ghosts on PS4 too (It really isn't as bad as people make out) but some of the on-disc maps are rather 'big' - Not much bigger than some of CoD4's maps though - Overgrown isn't much smaller the Stonehaven - a little more built up so not as many wide open spaces that make Stonehaven feel larger. It was the last game with Boots on the Ground and closer in pace to BO3 but still feels a bit slower and more cumbersome. They are 'feel' like a step back now so that's my concern with Infinite Warfare. If you don't want to 'buy' these games to try them out, you could watch game-play videos. I would suggest watching matches on maps like Hijacked as that is a familiar map but remember most of those that 'upload' only upload their best matches and are generally better than average players but you get an idea of how 'Boots on the Ground' compares to BO3 movement

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??
Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...
@BAMozzy: Lol I know exactly what you mean. I remember playing the Wii remake of Goldeneye a few years ago with my son and a few friends and this one map that was an outpost in the snow had these guard towers in it and everytime someone would try to climb up the ladder they would get picked off. If they managed to survive, they would gnerally win the match. So why know that tactic all to well. Sadly the only console I have regular access to that will play any CoD games is a Wii U and I doubt the online communities will be big for those games.
As for IW will be checking out the trailer here in a few minutes and will post my thoughts.

Apologies for the double post, but here's my thoughts. The ground base warfare has me pumped, really like the look of it. Space ship combat not so much. Honestly even in Starwars Battlefront II I wasnt a big fan of ship combat. The MW remaster oh yeah really hyped for it. Will be preordering this game when I pick up Overwatch here in a few weeks.

@Tasuki: There is always 'Ghosts' on PS4. At the very least the campaign and Extinction modes are fun if you don't think much to the MP - which in essence is just MW4....

@Tasuki: Official stream here - actually starts at 12:35 (if you don't need to see the trailer again)
Pre-ordered the Legacy Pro edition. It comes with the Steelbook case, Season Pass, Digital soundtrack and digital extras (probably a playercard, emblem and/or camo) as well as the CoD4 remaster. I know I will be a bit disappointed that some of my favourite maps won't be included as it only has 10 of the original 20 (inc 4 DLC) maps.
As this releases in November, I wonder if both the main game and CoD4 remaster will have a 'Neo' mode....
@BAMozzy: Thanks. I actually found it last night and watched it. I will be preordering it when I pick up Overwatch here in a few weeks. I will be at the very least getting the version that comes with MW Remaster.

I thought it was interesting that the two ex-Naughty Dog employees were given the role of being the Infinity Ward representatives for the campaign segment. The more I read about the campaign, the more interesting it sounds - Side Missions too. Just watched this interview on Playstations official Youtube Channel with Jacob Minkoff and Taylor Kurosaki (ex-Naughty Dog) answering some Q&A's about the campaign - strictly Solo experience!
Two more maps have been confirmed for CoD4:MW - Unsurprisingly Overgrown and Bog have been added to Crash, Crossfire and Backlot - so only 5 more maps to go....
So I finally got around to preordering this game sadly though I am way more excited about CoD4 Remaster more than IW.
@BAMozzy: Since the last post made here I have since picked up an Xbox 360 along with BO2 and I see now what you were saying a few posts back about boots on the ground vs BO3 movement, still though I have been enjoying both for various reasons. At times I like the fast paced fluid combat of BO3 but then other times I like the slower pace campy style of BO2. So I like have both games to match the mood I am in if that makes any sense.
Anyway what makes me more excited about the remaster is being able to play a boots on the ground CoD while it's still in its lifespan. Don't get me wrong BO2 is great but unless all I want to play is TDM it's a bit annoying not being able to find a Kill Confirmed or Domination group due to the low server pop.
I am sure I will probably try IW at some point though.

I've been keeping an eye on this briefly, not up my street at all this year sadly. I especially don't like the fact they're forcing people to buy the main game to gain access to what we really want in the COD4 remaster. If anything redefined the cod series, it was when they introduced the jetpacks originally, in titanfall jokes aside, i enjoyed the blops3 beta but i was never really gonna purchase it. Battlefield 1 looks great this year and Titanfall 2 coming to PS4 is massive news too. Especially given who makes it.
In terms of purchasing or what i'm looking forward to most this year. I'd personally go
@daveofduncan: Personally my preferred purchasing order is the opposite to yours. CoD campaigns, whilst not necessarily ground breaking, are lot better than Battlefields and I am intrigued to see what the Ex-Naughty Dog developers bring to it too. I am interested to see how they implement the side missions, whether these make a difference or not, but the freedom this offers to the standard 'be told what to do and follow that path onto the next mission' is interesting as well as the potential variety the new setting offers too. I have always enjoyed CoD's co-op options too - especially 'Zombies' and now Zombies is coming to an IW game for the first time. BO3 showed that Advanced movement can work very well in CoD. If anything its better than Titanfall's offering in their first game (not that it was bad) so not overly worried about the MP - it could be worse - it could be Ghosts 2 and feel like a major step backwards after BO3! I have NO issue with CoD4 being offered as part of the Infinite Warfare package - at least its going to the 'Fans' of CoD and not those that probably haven't bought a game for years or those just buying it to see what the fuss is all about...
Titanfall 2 has the edge over BF1 for me - mainly because of the promise of a campaign. The amendments to the MP hopefully will give a lot more variation and won't feel like you have seen and experienced everything the game has to offer in the first few hours or so.
Battlefield 1 looks OK but also looks like its a bit like BF4 with a WW1 skin over it. Can't deny that certain aspects, most notably the dynamic weather adds more than the setting itself. Dice haven't exactly had a good track record with campaigns either - the last one that was 'decent' was BF2BC! BF4 wasn't exactly great as an MP either - at least not for months after release. As a result, this is my third choice!

Each to their own I guess. I grew up with both and like the appeal of working together as a squad. These games have been calling out for WW1/2 settings again for half a decade. There's only so far futuristic games can go before they basically morph into Halo and to an extent, mass effect (side missions)
Battlefield has always been known for its large-scale battles. Nothing has come close to it so far. Nothing beats being able to destroy entire buildings to gain your squad/team an advantage. Or travel a vast map in a chopper with your squad to reach a position. Cod may have the dialog nailed but it's lacking in proper immersion.
I've every faith that COD will sell but I'm not buying the space setting. They can slap Naughty Dog connections on it but that by no means indicates the quality of THIS specific title.
I don't buy BF games for the SP. I've every ounce of respect for what they're doing with this. It's far from a skin btw, harsh remark. Same can be said for most shooter sequels. It's a common dig that COD gets far more often.
I personally think the reason jetpacks were bundled into AW in the first place was to attract TF players on XB1. To get one up over their court case rivals.
Cod, to me, had a certain feel to it back in the good days. Cod4 especially. It no longer has that feel from my time with AW and BO3.
Calling people who no longer religiously play cod any less of a fan because they're excited to re-live some memories, is incredibly harsh also! Half the people who play it today were barely able to handle a controller when it was originally around. Different generation entirely.
I'll give TF2 a fair shot this year when I get the chance. They're trying something new and something widely requested by its fanbase. I've got to respect that. So are dice by introducing WW1 to a shooter. The story mode sounds mighty appealing on both from what I've heard.
@daveofduncan: CoD also has a lot team-work as only a few modes are designed more for Solo or non-communicative play. The setting is immaterial in most FPS games too as weapons tend to work in very similar ways.
Battlefield may be known for its large scale battles but also massive maps which you can spend ages getting into any action - not that I dislike BF, I have all of them too - well apart from Hardline. Some of the Destruction is great but some of it seems pointless. Choppers also ruin the game in my opinion and you often get 1 guy just camping over the vehicle spawn destroying the other teams chance to compete - fortunately thats something that has been addressed in BF1. Its hardly 'harsh' to call BF1 a reskin though with the modern day pace and the amount of weapons/vehicles that never saw active combat making an appearance to give the game a more modern feel despite the setting - the number of Automatic weapons for example. Its hardly more immersive - just a different experience on offer
I don't like to compare CoD with Battlefield as they offer a very different experience. Having a 'sci-fi' setting, even if its grounded in reality (was putting Satellites in space, landing on the moon, building the ISS all sci-fi too?) doesn't make the game Halo or Killzone either. I know CoD in the past has been accused of being a 'clone' of its previous game, but you can't say that about the last 2. People were critical that it hadn't moved on so now the move into a 'near future' which allows for innovation and creativity to flourish - not tied or limited to the movement, equipment and stories of past eras but free to innovate, create and move the franchise forward. Its difficult to change or innovate the movement mechanics if you are limited to 2D (as in just boots on the ground based) because that's what the era dictates. Its difficult to innovate or be creative on weaponry/equipment/map design etc when you tied into particular 'real' event and the gear of the day.
Titanfall was hailed as the next big thing, the CoD killer etc because of its innovative approach to the basics - like movement. If course it struggled to do knock CoD off of its perch because of its limited release. It also lacked any real variety in its game-modes and game-play too. I do think its funny though that the things Titanfall got right are now criticised in CoD.
Its hardly Harsh to call someone who hasn't bought CoD for years, not interested in the new CoD etc not a 'fan'. I bought and enjoyed Zelda on the N64 but I am hardly a fan. I wouldn't cry if they remastered OoT and offered that ONLY with the new Zelda has a way to give something to the fans of Zelda who buy the latest game. I don't consider myself a Fan of Halo anymore even though I still have all the Bungie made games as well as the MCC. I wouldn't 'cry' if Halo 6 offered a 'remastered' Halo with much better visuals, half the maps etc for fans without selling it separately. Its better than getting a statue or some pointless game related gimmick! I didn't cry I couldn't buy BO3's Zombie inspired fridge separately.
I know that with CoD, I will get a decent amount of content and all aspects will offer me something to enjoy. I know that if don't fancy online gaming, I can get stuck into the campaign. I know that of I fancy something more co-operative I can play Zombies. If I fancy having something more competitive, I have the MP. I wouldn't be surprised if this offers 1,000hrs + by the time the next CoD comes out. Cod rarely has issues that don't get fixed very quickly either.
I can see Titanfall 2 offering nearly as much too - maybe not quite as much as it may not have co-op options too but the last game added that in later on in its life - a bit too late for the first game though. It worked out of the box too.
I have more reservations over Battlefield1 though. Having bought the last 2 on release, neither's campaign were great - in fact I would go so far to say that they were terrible! BF3's co-op wasn't great either and people only played to unlock specific weapons for MP. Battlefield 4's MP was awful and broken too at the start. BF4 was essentially just BF3 too but not as good. I also bought Star Wars Battlefront and that was very disappointing as well. Dice haven't got a good track record with their last few games and as a result don't deserve my money at launch. I can't get excited by a game that may look a bit flashy but likely to have a poor campaign, could be broken for months etc. Its not like Dice have been concentrating fully on it with a new SW:BF due next year and still supporting last years. Of course time will tell but Dices last 3 shooters haven't exactly lived up to expectation and so don't deserve to take my money - at least not on launch anyway...

New Zombie trailer was released today and it looks freakin awesome. I will admit I couldn't get into Zombies on BO3 but IW Zombies looks alot of fun. Maybe it's the setting (I am a sucker for 80's themed things) or maybe cause it's not tied into BO Zombies but it looks like it may keep me busy. So far I am more excited for the add-ons rather then the actual IW game itself.

The 80's theme looks quite cool - I remember the Era well! It will be interesting to see how it compares to Treyarchs offering and looks a lot better than Sledgehammers attempt in Advanced Warfare. I hope it has the depth that Treyarchs offer and not just a throwaway option. I actually enjoyed CoD: Ghosts - Extinction although it wasn't as 'good' as Treyarch's Zombies. So far, with the very limited look, I get the impression this is more comical, light-hearted and wonder whether it will have the durability of Treyarch's - that 'vibe' can wear thin quickly if the depth isn't there...

New Story trailer has been released... Looks great in my opinion!!
I can't wait to play through the campaign - I know they maybe a bit cliched but I enjoy them! I may wait until my PS4 Pro arrives to start the campaign - It may be fun to see the first mission on the PS4 and then replay on the PS4 Pro. Hopefully it will support HDR too. The game looked great on PS4 at its reveal and would have happily played it on my PS4 but as the Pro launches less than a week later, I think it maybe a good way to see what the Pro can offer from a visual perspective...
