As I said on the other thread I was gone for two years serving a two-year mission for my church (just serving and teaching about God and stuff, so no internet or playing games)
I'm very happy to get back into gaming though, I started with FFXV last night and it's awesome so far. But what else do I need to play from the last two years? I also own Breath of the Wild now. I need some help people. indie games, big releases, I want to know the best stuff to put on my list. I'll be headed to Gamestop later.

Well, two years means you missed out on Uncharted 4! And Uncharted: Lost Legacy! And Horizon Zero Dawn, The Last Guardian, Super Mario Odyssey and NieR: Automata! Then there's Gravity Rush 2 as well, a good sequel.
Capcom recently released a new Monster Hunter game, and it's brilliant. And we got a Shadow of the Colossus remake!
As for indie games, I enjoyed Hyper Light Drifter a lot. It's a must-buy if you like 2D Zelda-esque games.
@Jaz007 Welcome back man! Good to see you on the forums.
Possibly stating the obvious but I would start with Uncharted 4 and Uncharted the Lost Legacy! Also check out the rather excellent Game of the Year threads from theMcnoisy and KratosMD.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
@Jaz007 Welcome back! What type of games do you enjoy?

@Jaz007 Things have changed man. Stay away from these things called lootboxes. Also, Nintendo now makes peripherals from cardboard and Ubisoft have pretty much stopped releasing Assassins Creed like a NOW Music album every year.
@Jaz007 Woah! I’m impressed that you remembered your password to log back in after 2 years. Solid dedication to Push Square.
I’m relatively new to the forums so I don’t know your tastes, but in addition to the obvious ones already mentioned which should be first up (UC 4 and UC LL, Horizon Zero Dawn, NieR Automata) I would add a brilliant short game called What Remains of Edith Finch which is a great story and interesting conglomeration of gameplay, and Rise of the Tomb Raider if you liked the last TR game although it’s not quite as good story wise, it is great fun imo. Persona 5 is awesome as well, if you like the genre.
Dozens more are highly recommended as well, many of which from last year I haven’t even played yet either (Assassins Creed Origins, Yakuza 0, etc.). You’ll have to lock yourself up and forego sleep for about 3 months to get through them all.
But yeah, start with the Uncharteds and Horizon probably as safe bets.
*Edit: @KratosMD beat me to it on a few of these. 😋 Just shows that he’s got good taste.
@Jaz007 I second Assassin's Creed Origins, even if you didn't like the other AC games I highly recommend that one. The changes they made to the series work really good for this game and exploring ancient Egypt is just so much fun with a ton of stuff to do.

@Jaz007 Welcome back sir, I hope these past two years were good to you.
Games I would recommend are:
Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice, a great 7 hour story driven game.
The Last Guardian, while not without flaws was far from the mess that many might have thought it would be, also the Shadow of the colossus Remake is as amazing as people remember.
Overwatch is a great team based online shooter and while it does have loot boxes they at least kept it cosmetic which is the lesser of two evils. If you have or get Plus it's free to play this weekend.
The new Doom was awesome, a rip roaring shooter that made you feel like a badass.
Deus Ex Mankind divided is worth your time too, especially if you liked Human revolution.
Wipeout Omega collection bundled Wipeout HD Fury and Vita game 2048 but still a tremendous racer.
If you like fighters then Street Fighter V is worth your time now that arcade mode has been included.
Tekken 7 looks like it's put the franchise back on form though I haven't played it yet a fair number on here speak highly of it.
Injustice 2 was another solid fighter with a surprisely good story mode and great guest characters as DLC including Sub Zero, Hellboy and just this week the Ninja Turtles.
And if you like Dragon Ball Z then the Guilty Gear devs just released a 3v3 fighter around it that has been well received.
Titanfall 2 delivered on the promise of the first game with great multiplayer and a decent story campaign.
Hope this proved useful.
@Jaz007 Only just realised your back man and posted on the other thread.
You have to play Yakuza zero! Its great and you would definitely appreciate it.
Horizon Zero Dawn is cracking also. In a way its a pity you are playing ff15 and own BoTW as it would be another epic fantasy type openworld.

PS3 Megathread 2019: The Last of Us
Multiplat 2018: Horizon Zero Dawn
Nintendo 2017: Super Mario Bros 3
Playstation 2016: Uncharted 2
Multiplat 2015: Final Fantasy 7
@Jaz007 I see. I'll try to list some games not mentioned yet...
-Bioshock Collection (All DLC included)
-Dragon Quest Heroes 1 or 2 (Really fun warriors-type game)
-South Park the Fractured But Whole (if you are a fan of South Park)
-Wolfenstein 2
-The Evil Within 2
Also Kingdom Hearts 3 is supposedly out this year. Luckily all the games are now available on PS4:
-Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 ReMiX
-Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue
Indie:
-Crossing Souls
80s inspired retro action adventure game. I'm really enjoying it. Has a killer soundtrack, awesome cutscenes and still has a PS+ launch discount.
But, yeah after FFXV you should definitely play Uncharted 4 followed by The Lost Legacy.
You will not be disappointed.
Have fun catching up! A lot of great games on here already. Can't go wrong with any of them.
Lives, Lived, Will Live.
Dies, Died, Will Die.

@Jaz007 I recently picked up gaming again too and remember feeling a bit overwhelmed. So many amazing titles and I want to try ‘m all.
My PS+ subscribtion has been very valuable for me in this process. I especially liked Infamous: Second Son and Child Of Light. This month’s offering includes Rime and, yes, Knack.
A lot of amazing games are already mentioned so I’ll try to differentiate a bit. I just want to confirm: Horizon: Zero Dawn is something else
If you like arcade games (I always love to have some on the side) I can recommend Sky Force Anniversary (intense shoot ‘em up), Downwell (hard as a rock but super fun) and some NeoGeo beat ‘em ups. I get my Pinball fix with Pinball FX3.
Talking fighters: check the guide on fighting games on this site. I can recommend Street Fighter V, Tekken 7, Injustice 2 and Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2.
Currently playing Aven Colony, a sci-fi city builder and a welcome change of pace. Slowly develop colonies and maintain them while completing several objectives. It looks awesome too.
But the most important advise someone gave me? Take your time, enjoy your games and don’t focus too much on the ‘catching up’ part. Interested in hearing about your experiences!
@Jaz007 Here's a link to our Game of the Year tag. Anything that was mentioned for Game of the Year over the last few years will be here. Plenty of great games out there.
Hey!! Welcome back! Weirdly enough, I was wondering about you the other day, because we used to interact a bit and I was thinking the 2 years was almost up. When I saw this thread on the main page, I thought it would be you!
As mentioned, Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy are musts (obviously, with your avatar). If you need a refresher, they came out with an Uncharted Collection as well.
Here are my favorite games from the past two years:
Horizon Zero Dawn
Persona 5 (if you're into jrpgs)
Uncharted 4 / Lost Legacy
Overwatch
Prey
Ratchet and Clank Remake
Also, you have got to try PSVR if the opportunity presents itself. It's REALLY REALLY cool and you won't typically get that until trying it for yourself.
If you're into first-person horror walking simulation games:
-Layers of Fear
is the game you're looking for. Jump scare timings are perfectly implemented in my opinion.
You won't be disappointed. But don't buy the expansion pack, unlike the base game, it's not worth it.
Welcome back to games! I'd say the best games of the past few years were Uncharted 4, Persona 5, Nier: Automata and Zelda Breath of the Wild. If you're looking for some indies, if you haven't played it I would strongly recommend Undertale which released at the end of 2015, and it's absolutely wonderful, just make sure you play it without having read anything about it beforehand!
