It was most certainly an interesting launch, I'll give it that.

Said last year that they were handling things poorly and got hell for it. I'm not happy that this turned out to be a mess but I was right, maybe my attitude sometimes is what annoys people but you know what should be really annoying? A company promising stuff and then not delivering. It's wonderful and perfect Sony though, it can do no wrong. An 11-month delay, the game is still nothing more than slightly above average, the launch a mess, but hey that's great.

Honestly, after seeing the first reveal trailer of the game I was totally your opinion too. Got it in my guts that this game at best will be average. My hopes are on Project Cars but I have a feeling like they'll release in an unfinished state as well...

Sadly most games are released in an unfinished state these days. But I'm still excited for Project Cars. Obviously just waiting for the release and impressions. If it seems like it lives up to half of what they're trying to do, I can say a digital purchase from me is almost guaranteed.
Well when companies can release patches and DLC in the future why not release a half ass game? I mean at least they kept their release date promises eh. :/

They sure kept their promises with this one.
Honesty I dont know why people take game release dates as promise. I mean if companies did release a sub par game when on the date they "promised" then people would whine on how it broken, buggy. incomplete etc. I for one like it when they take the time to fix stuff rather then release a half ass game. But I guess people just like to complain.

Yeah, I agree with Tasuki, they definitely made the right decision to delay the game, as it was in awful shape prior to launch. That also means they had ample time to run a proper beta test, too, though, so, while I understand server issues do happen, I'm a bit disappointed they weren't more prepared for this...
I also think that people are blowing this way out of proportion as well. I mean with so many great games coming out in a few weeks and even the next few months this Drive Club Debacle will be forgotten in time.
Am I disappointed sure I am but am I going to let it ruin my day nah there are plenty of other games out there to enjoy. Even just looking at the other free games that came out for the PSN+ for free this month like Dust and Splunky there is plenty there to keep a person busy.

Pity that this is happening.... I have the game, being able to play only offline at the moment (gaming servers down). But as far as I see the game is pretty solid, amazing graphics, funny driving model, different behaviour for each car, aggressive AI.... hope they gonna fix everything fast, cos the gametotally deserve some love...
They had up to 11 months to get this game right and it's still a mess I think people have a right to complain.
Where is it stated that companies have X amount of time to make a game. Some games take more time some take less. Some games even take years to make. Would you be happy if they released a broken unfinished game?

Totally your opinion here, but I get the impression that it WAS delayed and still is only slightly above average AND has server problems. Im the last guy yelling "boohoo thats not what I expected" as I don't have very high expectations about game launches these days anymore anyways, but still. I take a delay over a half assed game any day, but just think about the game and the originally planned release date...in what state was the game back then hm?
I hate when people do this, and at the moment, I'm especially disgruntled because of Destiny. Not going into detail here now, wrong thread, but I don't like that it looks like a trend that developers and publishers (dont even get me started on ea) seem to have the habit of doing a "molyneux" these days...

Well, the game was delayed from launch until October of this year, hence why I'm saying they were given 11 extra months to get this right and they should've. Of course I don't want a company to release a broken, unfinished game but unfortunately even with the extra time, Evolution managed to screw this up. The main part of the game itself that I'd care about, offline single player, seems competent enough, even if the car list is kind of small, but they failed in getting the online part right for launch, and that massively disappointing considering they had tons of extra time. I knew where this was headed though when all the hype was about graphics, graphics, graphics and the free version was said to be releasing day and date with the game instead of ahead of time. A confident developer providing what is essentially a demo usually puts that out before the full release. At least that used to be the way, sadly demos are a thing of the past but that's why I appreciated what MS and Playground Games did for Forza Horizon 2.
I'm in the UK, had the boxed Special Edition since Wednesday. It's a great racer. Other than the server issues, there's really nothing wrong with.
Plenty to do in single player.
Controls really nicely.
Looks great.
Sounds great.
So really, wtf is everyone's problem?
In terms of sound, I think it sounds really good when I can hear it. My problem is that when using the in car view, I have to turn my audio system very very high.... These numbers are for reference only
Netflix I turn it to "20" Most games I use "15" DriveClub needs at least "35"... That's with the audio sliders turned all the way up.
Which view are you using and do you need to turn yours up louder than normal too? Might just be some odd issue with my config.
EDIT: Also, for another example, I have to turn Diablo 3 down... usually to like "8" or "9". I've been attacked by your Nemesis before, so I know you played!

I just sat down and played for 30 minutes, too, and really enjoyed it. The server issues are a bummer, but if I didn't have to 'come back to work', I could have quite happily sat and played through the tour mode all afternoon. It definitely does look barebones with all of the online stripped away, especially if you've just come off an open world racer with tons to do, but it seems... Really good so far.
