Topic: I don't mind paying 15 bucks for PS2 games when they look this good

@themcnoisy: All games are luxury items though. And for some more comparables, how about a 2 hour blueray of a 30 year old film that still retails for a tenner? or 60 minutes of music from the 90's re-released on a compilation CD for £12.99? Or charging full price for cinema tickets when they show old films such as Back to the Future, which is becoming fairly common these days. Where is the value in that, where it isn't in a HD re-release of a 40+ hour game?

Of course, we know there are cheaper ways to get all of these experiences, but we pay extra for the added convenience and luxury factor.

@get2sammyb: There is one PAL improvment which seems absent.
Digital Foundry just put up a video about GTA SA, which shows the PAL release is in practice replicating the slower refresh rate of the 50Hz original, which means we have a worst performing version of the game in Europe, just like the original PS2 release which lacked a 60Hz mode.
I was really hoping this slower gameplay issue in PAL versions was something the PS4 emulation would resolve, but seems it hasn't, at least in regards to GTA SA.

@Ristar42: Off topic but a 50fps target would of suited this gen. And I know its mad but British Pal utilised more scan lines in a standard broadcast in comparison to ntsc. So our slower picture had more detail. Something for another thread but well worth keeping in mind when we talk about the slower refresh rate.

Edit - forgot to mention I read that article in Eurogamer.

@themcnoisy: It did have more detail certainly, but yep, resulted in squashed images as far as consoles went, as they were not designed to take advantage.
Im not techie enough to know if an emulator can solve this fps issue with non optimised PAL games running on PS4, but if not, I'd rather play US versions as they will run better.
