Although that does seal the deal on it for me too, will be staying away from it. The weird thing is I can't even remember what bugged me about DA:I so much..when I think about it I sometimes think I should give it another chance. Then I remember - it sucked.
@kyleforrester87 The game play is all over the place, millions of menus, all the systems are thrown at you in the first hour and the overwhelming amount of junk quests. That's my take on DAI.
Mass Effects first 20 minutes are brilliant. Other than some dodgy eye animations it's pretty good. That all goes pear shaped by the time you meet dad and shoot down to the Golden world. From then on its just not mass effect, it's a bad game.

I spent a few hours with Mass Effect and whilst the UI and all the information is kind of over-whelming, its not the worst game in the world. It still feels like a Mass Effect game and Combat is OK - maybe will get better with more skill points. The jet-pac at least adds 'something'. The Story, the missions etc at the moment aren't particularly grabbing me but I haven't done loyalty missions. I would say its definitely a '7' at the moment and considering I would rate the Trilogy as 9 (overall), it is disappointing but its not a 'bad' game - its not a 'bad' Mass Effect game either but its not a 'great' game. I think I may start over again as my 'Ryder' seems 'odd' in game compared to the cast but looked OK in the character creation....
I don't want to give 'spoilers' but within the first 'hour' there is an inconsistency - All I will say is Helmet Visors and how 'Ryder' became the Pathfinder. How can Ryder repair it once after crashing on the planet and then her father gives up his life and helmet when it breaks again - surely either could have repaired it?
Planet scanning for resources is like ME2, some resources are quite easy to pick up on the planet as you are walking, the Nomad certainly handles better, the visuals in general aren't bad at all - certainly not on the Pro and in HDR and the actual faces are good - expressions and animations are weak and conversations aren't always 'fluid' and feel more like people reading scripts in 'rehearsal'. There are definitely 'better' games available but I still want to play - its not like its so bad, so boring etc that I really struggle to keep playing. I loved the original trilogy but I don't consider myself a 'massive fan'. The trilogy was one of my favourite game franchises on last gen but I can understand why those fans are upset.

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

@BAMozzy Every point you've made in comment 92 is spot on. I think the helmet was so badly damaged maybe it couldn't be repaired - but in that case why did they show the self repair earlier on? Well confusing and we'll pointed out.
I'm finding myself skipping dialouge, something I rarely did in the original trilogy as I don't care about the characters, fortunately walking around the space station post habitat 7 the games improved slightly. Trying to solve the murder case and tracing the saboteur have both been fun.
@andreoni79 Unlucky, How are you finding mass effect mate?

@themcnoisy Much of the dialogue isn't bad - all the information they hold - the background dialogue when they are giving information about things - like why they joined the initiative etc. Some of the dialogue is poor though - mostly the conversations involving more than 2 people - it doesn't 'flow' naturally. Animations don't help the dialogue either but some of the worst are not during dialogue - the look that Ryder gives when she (I guess 'he' too if you play as male) is shockingly bad.
Its possible that the helmet, having been repaired once, couldn't be repaired again. However they didn't even appear to try. It seemed to be contradictory, something that suited the 'plot' at that time regardless. In the first instance to show the planet was inhospitable due to atmosphere and the 2nd was to make your character become the Pathfinder but it contradicted the outcome of both situations.
I have made it 'beyond' Eos - Eos is 78% 'viable' at the moment for me and I have also done the murder and sabotage missions on the Nexus too. This is my 2nd character as my first looked odd in-game where as the 2nd seems 'better' and more in keeping with the others.
I haven't tried the strike missions or co-op yet but I am 'enjoying' the game thus far. Its no where near as good as the other games around and not as good as its predecessors either in a lot of ways but there are a few improvements - like combat. Most of the time the visuals are quite good too - in 4k HDR at least and I want to keep playing despite its issues. This in itself says a lot to me, I have games that I have played an hour or two and really have no motivation to return to yet I want to keep playing ME:A. As I discussed before about how I reviewed games, this is still sitting at a 7/10 at the moment which is 'good'.

Wish I never had that quick blast. Mass Effect is ruined forever. Avoid.
The whole tone of the game is wrong, the fighting is awful, the collision detection is wonky, the setup is bad.....
It's Dragon age inquisition in space.
Well if you say the combat is awful thats speaks volume's about the original Mass Effect combat, because is leagues ahead of the original combat.
Agreed. It blows the first ME out of the water when it comes to combat. It's my favorite game series but the first ME has not aged well when it comes to gameplay. The story and characters are still top notch tho.
Will throw that invite out to everyone in the thread. UK time 10pm on Tuesday.

I am 'quite' enjoying this game - still. My 'Ryder' is now rank 23 and has 2 planets at 100% viability.
I have had several crashes, some stuttering game-play, some glitches and of course the animations etc aren't the best. Still want to keep playing it though...

@BAMozzy I had a glitch in the first temple thingy in EOS, Ryder kept saying we need to turn the 2 computers on. I thought I had missed something and spent an hour trying to find out what to do. I couldn't figure it out.
Only to watch a YouTube video and the computers just appear and it is no puzzle.
So bad.

I'm like ten hours into Mass Effect: Andromeda and I think it's totally fine. I've had very little in the way of glitches, crashes or bugs. Basically one weird animation. That's pretty much it.
Talking to people is Mass Effecty. That's what I want. Storytelling is Mass Effecty. That's what I want.
The only real downside for me is that there's too much gameplay i.e. the sections between conversations or story revelations. I'm not thrilled about exploring planets for fetch questing. I'm not thrilled about exploring planets generally. But other than that, I think it's fine.
