@crimsontadpoles Do you know if they'll make it available another time? I hate this to be fair. I don't have much time until the week after it ends, so I'm not sure if I can get to a high enough level to even attempt that quest...
@Octane No idea. It's a bit frustrating that these events are so limited, especially since these sorts of things were available indefinitely on the 3DS Monster Hunter games.
1.35 million retail copies sold in its first three days according to Famitsu. It's about on par with the 3DS entries, though I believe 4G sold something like 1.7 million. However, the digital attach rate may be higher on PS4. Either way, it's looking good, it certainly didn't bomb in Japan.
Just a suggestion/tip, it's a good idea to just focus on assignments until you reach high rank quests. The stuff you'll get in high rank grossly over powers anything in low. You'll also have a brief transition at the very start of high where you'll need to 'wait' a bit before you can get the next assignment. This is a good time to farm.
But by all means, don't rush it! Just know that you'll have some 'spare' time later where you'll have to do a handful of content (whatever you want) before they give you your next assignment.
As for events, it's a 5 star quest that requires HR8, but it's the difficulty of a 1 or 2 star quest... easily. It should only take 30 minutes TOPS to do it the three times required to get all the palico gear. It's fairly decent palico gear for low rank quests, but it's quickly tossed aside. I don't think you can use it as a 'style/skin' either.

@NathanUC You've made it sound a little less painful. Still dislike how close to launch these events are and how high grade they are for the casual player.
@Shellcore Yeah, I certainly agree that 2 weeks isn't really a great window for an event at launch. At least this is only the palico half though. The armor/weapon part should be coming at a later time. Hunter Rank 8 certainly ins't what I'd call high though.
If anyone still needs a reference site for this game, Kiranico's page is nearly complete. It has everything up to rarity 8 I believe. https://mhworld.kiranico.com/ I still recommend playing blind for a while. It's more exciting!

@Octane Nothing really. You would just have wasted any money/points on food and items you used. You can even still get rewards if you fail! If you abandon, you still keep any gathered items, but I don't know if you'll get any rewards like you would if you failed.
What weapon are you using? Is this low or high rank Puki? Thunder weapons should help defeat fast. Stay to his side as much as you can (but hit him in the face) and bring a shock trap to hold him in place for a bit.

@NathanUC Err.. It's the first one. Don't know where I can see its rank, but I assume low. I'm using the big sword, and I just got it upgraded to the first Jagras sword (don't know where I can see the exact names).
@Octane Hmm you might just need to slow down and take your time if he's killing you. Make sure to pay attention to his behavior before an attack so you can get used to dodging them. You might also go play around in the weapons training arena to make sure you know all of the great swords abilities and nuances. Just keep at it though; MH is all about learning and reacting. I would also recommend you stay away from multiplayer until you feel comfortable with the monster. (same is true for all quests). You'll need to build your knowledge and skills over time to be able to take on more and more difficult monsters.

@NathanUC I wasn't planning on doing any multiplayer, so I'm good.
I managed to defeat him. I went on an expedition first to gather some items and whatnot, then I came back and upgraded my stuff, I figured I should've done that at some point. So I guess it's the upgraded armour that did the job, even though I'm not sure how useful that was in the end.
Anyway, it definitely doesn't help if the big Jagras and the T-Rex enter the scene as well!
@Octane You can throw poo at monsters if you want them to run away. Later in the game, you should always carry dung bombs to throw at bigger monsters who want to ruin your day!

This game is so addictive! It has such a satisfying gameplay loop of hunting monsters, fighting epic battles then upgrading gear, loving my Jagras Armour set and bone shottel
The Ancient Forest sure is confusing. I've spent almost 3 hours trying to deliver some eggs... . Could not work that map out on top of avoiding conflict and trying to not drop the egg.
On the plus side, I know have full Rathian Armor .

@Fight_Teza_Fight I just did the Wyvern Egg Delivery mission for the Ancient Forest, and it took me well over an hour. The 3rd base camp isn't too hard to get to from the nest, but I kept going the wrong way since the attacking Rathian frightened away the scout flies. In the end, I had to use the scout flies to learn the route before trying to grab the egg.
