I'm still in shock that this is actually coming out on PS4. Is this real life?!
To save our Mother Earth from any alien attack
From vicious giant insects who have once again come back
We'll unleash all our forces we won't cut them any slack

I tried the Beta this evening for an hour or so. Never played a Monster Hunter game before but it is pretty good. It looks way better then I thought and I can see the core gameplay loop being additive. Not sure I will get this at launch but I think this has potential to break out in the west.
Now I may be an idiot, but there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot
Cosmetic contents unrelated to character stats, such as gestures, face paint, and stamp sets for use in chat, are planned for release as paid downloadable content.
@Elodin@KappaBeta I think the time in the actual game will be 30 minutes for Nergigante. Also, besides the time limit, I believe they also made Nergigante tougher for the beta.
I don't understand why there are even other articles or reviews being posted. MH is out this Friday guys. The rest of the game industry can just take a vacation for a few months.

@NathanUC There are about a dozen 2018 games I'm looking forward to more atm.
It looks alright. The beta was fun. It's basically a prettier MH with one big map in each area, which is cool. The loss of portability is profoundly annoying to me, though, considering how grindy this series is. There's a reason I barely even touched MH3U on Wii U. So I'll probably just skip this one.
@Ralizah It was mostly a joke For me, I find it hard to care about any other game because I've been waiting (but not expecting) for this for like 10 years. I put thousands of hours on the PSP games, but gave up on the series at 3 for the Wii. Some of the 3DS ones looked appealing, but none of my gang play 3DS, so I would have been alone in my group... and I hate the 3DS
The loss of portability is perfectly fine by me in order to get the scale and visuals. I can still remote play with my Vita even if it's not very comfortable. As far as I'm concerned, this is the first true step forward they've taken in the series since MH2 I'm so so so so so so excited.
ALSO, for what it's worth, the beta was kind of annoying. The lack of a game save and rushed time limits were a little off-putting. I don't think MH is the type of game that CAN demo well.

@NathanUC I can understand why you're excited. For me, all of my friends own 3DS/Switch, and I just find being able to play anywhere to be much more comfortable than being forced to sit in front of a TV when I want to play a game, so you can probably understand why my enthusiasm is a bit cold on this one. We played a decent amount of local co-op MH4U on 3DS when we met up out in the world. Especially at conventions. Online MP just doesn't have the same appeal to me.
And yeah, MH games never demo well. Because the appeal of them can only be discovered when engaging with the entire gameplay loop.
And remote play is... a nightmare for me. I've tried so hard to get it work. I hate it. I wish it worked for me. I'd love to play games like Persona 5 on my Vita.
@Ralizah I plan to play it a bit more 'local coop' than online. I don't really play games like that with strangers, but it will be awesome to be able to play MH with my brother in law 500miles away again. We used to use some annoying PC software for our PSPs that let us play it online. It worked well, but it was a pain to setup and use. Nowadays though, I hate dealing with portable consoles. They are all way too small and uncomfortable. If I need to use an actual controller for them anyways, it defaults the purpose for me. That's still my gripe with the Switch. It's portable but the controls are horrible in portable mode unless you lug around a controller. Not to mention the visuals are way rough after being in the PS family for so long. I would be interested to see MHW ported to the switch eventually though... I want more people to love the game that I love so much.
Excuse the wires, I'm still in the process of building a new center console that better hides them. My wife's setup is on the left and I'm on the right. We ordered one of the PS4 Pro Monster Hunter editions to replace her launch PS4

@WanderingBullet I plan to play in Resolution mode and my wife wants to play Quality mode.
I know DF really hates unlocked frame-rates, but I'd prefer 35-40 over a locked 30 personally. The beta certainly felt great to me, and as he said, this is pretty much on par for a MH game. I'm curious to see how the other areas play.
With these numbers too, I'm guessing Xbone X might hit 50-60 fairly easily with framerate mode. Good news for those owners.
