Topic: Nex Machina | OT

I played the arcade mode on rookie last night, and I did horribly! I think it was partly down to being out of practice with this type of game, and partly the heat. My score was abysmal. Practice makes perfect, I guess!

There's a lot to love about Nex Machina. It plays fantastically, the audio feedback is top notch, and you constantly have to make decisions. It also demands your full attention, as there is so much happening on screen, but it can be a little overwhelming. I'd have to watch my replay back (please don't, it's a disaster) but I'm pretty sure most of my deaths were caused by wandering into an enemy or bullet I hadn't spotted, because I was focusing on one area of the screen. My one criticism after one play through would be that some elements are a bit hard to read. The game wants you to pay attention to the whole screen at once, but there are times when that seems almost impossible.

Maybe it's just that I'm terrible at it.

@Quintumply you do improve mate. Housemarque games are weird like that, you upskill quite quickly.

@themcnoisy Yeah, I'm sure I will! It was a ridiculous temperature last night, though. Not a good match for the intensity of this game

Done about 4 worlds on experienced and the first world on Arena. You get medals for Arena and it'll put you up against someone else on the leaderboard for more medals and like a level system. I got 28 on the leaderboards going for number 1, just try and beat everyone.

So after an awful run of rookie arcade mode last night, I thought I'd give it another bash tonight, to see if I could improve my score.

I absolutely obliterated it! Went from a paltry 4 million to 91 million! No continues used, but I shot a lot of scenery to try and find secrets, which led to a fair few extra lives and secret humans.

Not sure whether to keep playing on rookie or try my hand at experienced. I've had a little go on one of the arena challenges, might focus on that to get some unlocks etc.

I wished my score hadn't been reset. I need to get back on over the weekend and challenge all y'all scores!

@banacheck your scores are insane. Watched one of your replays back and was completely blown away. You literally dive into enemies and keep those human chains going. I get up to like 6 or 7 max lol.

One of my hates about this game is when you continue you have no power and the place you die at, then becomes way harder. I realize 1cc the game is the main aim of the game but man you end up never continuing as it's pointless.
