@MadchesterManc Yes, the fanboyism is always like that these days, that's why I rarely visit the site anymore. I used to be on NL hours a day a few years ago, but it's nothing but fanboys now. Which is kind of indicative of Nintendo's current situation. They're screwing things up so terrifically, pretty much all they have left are the fanboys.
Nintendo Life went down the pan when James Newton left, and when Corbie and Drake stopped being permanent fixtures.
I Loved NL when James was the editor, and i agree 100% It just aint the same. Corbs is still around though, dont remember drake. Chicken is still writing funny reviews

Drake, like Corbs, wrote good VC reviews. To be fair to NL, the virtual console is not nearly so interesting as it used to be so I suppose they've done a good job of finding ways to compensate for all that intrigue that was built around the VC. It's just not for me anymore.
The forums are definitely one area I want to work on boosting. We have a nice steady stream of interaction on the homepage now, so this is definitely next on the agenda. Don't worry, I have - and have pitched - a lot of really cool ideas in the community department, so it's just a case of ensuring they get implemented now.
@get2sammyb: Thats exciting news. I plan on sticking around for awhile I don't feel the need to go anywhere else for my Sony news, reviews etc. now that I have a Vita and PS4.

I'm generally newish to the site and don't comment frequently, because of the fact I didn't own a Sony console until recently, but I don't go to any other place for my Sony news than here. The articles are always great and the community, while not as fast paced as NL, seems to be better than the fanboys over there (sorry, I'm a creeper lol). I'm hoping this place takes off and becomes a great place for Sony fans to gather and discuss, without the fanboyism present at NL.

Nintendo Life was the same way a few years ago. It's a curse that plagues any video game website that becomes larger over time.

So very true.
The problem is as these extreme fanboys get banned from one game site they go to another one untill they are banned from there. They are almost like locust.

I totally agree with what has been said about NL and PS. I like it more here. I do think so though that the general success of your chosen brand has something to do (for SOME people) with your attitude towards other consoles. I think that most fanboys defending nintendo are bitter. I always try to keep an open mind myself. See, Im a long time Nintendo Fan, but I wasn't too happy with the Wii and I really don't like the Wii U. So I just had to "get" that also my beloved Nintendo can screw things up. And just some years ago I was really not too much in the mood to buy anything Sony, I hated their attitude and what they did with the PS3 launch was laughable. But now, thanks to my open mind, I could embrace Sony and I love my Vita and my PS3, soon PS4 too. I also have a gaming PC but despite the fact that so many people are stating its the ultimate platform, it's not for me. It's mostly full of trash and multi platforms I can have anywhere anyways. Steam sales are nice though but I prefer gaming on a console as of late (the past 8 years actually).
So whatever floats your boat, its ok, just don't rain onto anyone else's parade. I really don't get why people even CARE what some random unknown dude across the atlantic is playing his games on...

I love this place, but unfortunately, like every other website that gets bigger over time (and I'm going to assume this one will grow), it will eventually get overtaken by the mindless corporate slaves and become garbage community wise. That's not a shot at the writers because I don't think Sammy and co. will ever get lazy when it comes to reporting news and I fully expect they will continue to be honest with their reviews and not bitten by the fanboy bug, same as the writers at NLife. Sadly the same can not be said for the community, a lot of us-in fact I'll say 90%- who comment and post in the forums here now will no longer be doing so in 5 years at most because the nutjobs will have become too much.
I remember NLife before it was NLife, it was late 2006/early 2007 and I was looking for release schedules and updates for the Wii's Virtual Console and happened upon a nice little site called vc-reviews.com. In addition to reviews it had as accurate a release schedule as you could get and constant updates. Over time it grew and eventually blossomed into NLife. The website was great at first then the Nintendolts, as I like to call them, showed up. You even mention something positive about Sony and MS or suggest something Nintendo could do better and you get slammed. And the constant 'we have a more refined taste in gaming' attitude over there sickens me to no end. But that's what happens as the site gets more hits. I hope for Sammy and the other writers that this place explodes, same for Ken and his crew at PureXbox, they all deserve it for the hard work they put in. Unfortunately when these websites do hit the big time, it means I will have to find other sources for PlayStation and Xbox news and discussions.
What @Gamer83 says is sadly the truth. I two have been at Nintendolife for awhile granted not as long as Gamer83 was but recently I have slowed downed my presence there because of the fanboyism there, which is sad cause I do enjoy their reviews and news stories it's just the community that went downhill. I know the mods there do the best job that they can and honestly compared to other sites like IGN they do a much better job however I guess fanboys walk a fine line. They probably can't get banned untill they really do something offense like break one of the rules big time unfortunately there is no rules against fanboyism. Who knows really they could crack down on fanboys that start trouble perhaps they send them a warning but thats between the mods and the fanboys.
Hopefully in the future Sammy will have a good mod team in place like NL does and can keep the fanboyism down, but in the end all we can do is wait and see how things turn out. But for now let's just enjoy the ride.

You either die loving all games, or live long enough to see yourself become a fanboy.
This!
*highfives
Also, I found your drunken love-claim adorable! So no hate from my side...remember: only three kind of persons speak the truth: kids, people who're really pissed off and drunk people.
And I love Pushsquare as well...plenty up to date articles, good and fair reviews and a very mature and likable community. Been singed up since Feb. and it's getting better and better.

What if you're a fanboy of all games and companies?
Also, I try not to let others get under my skin too much, no matter how extreme they are. I may disagree wholeheartedly with some rather silly comments, but personally I don't feel offended.

Pretty sure that's impossible, considering the definition of "fanboy" requires your ignorant unwavering loyalty and bashing anyone who doesn't like the console of your choosing. Unless you're just a console elitist and only spew hate on PC

Interesting discussion so far really. I just simply don't get why anyone would care what console someone else across the globe enjoys more. It's simply beyond me. What I personally DO HATE though is when people make claims that are wrong. Regardless of subject. Like "XBONE IS MORE POWERFUL" or "GREAT BRITAIN HAS THE HOTTEST SUMMERS" etc... you get the idea. I get very defendant about such things as Im allergies to dumb people it seems. Which sometimes has me involved in some fanboy discussion but no one gets why I am offended!
