@Thrillho Hunting is easily my least favourite part of the game so far. Funny how opinions can range that widely! I'll shoot the odd deer or rabbit here and there, but generally I'll avoid aggressive wildlife as much as possible. I only got the Legendary Bear Pelt thanks to that mission!
The amount of accidental mini-rampages you can get into in this game is ridiculous. I didn't mean to run my horse into yours and kill you in doing so, partner. Why won't the witnesses ever understand?!
@andreoni79 Yeah, I’m confused about the auto save too. There is no indicator that shows you the game is saving, so how am I supposed to know? I just try to save manually just in case when I quit, but it should be clearer than this.

I’m finding the game well-crafted, but quite a bit more complex than I anticipated. It’s common to be overwhelmed when starting a new RPG due to the learning curve of all the controls and ways to progress your stats, but this game may just be the most complex game I’ve ever played, as far as amount of gameplay elements.
I’m in chapter 2 and although I appreciated the slow nature of the first chapter easing me into game mechanics, it seems like a whole bunch have been dumped on me at once. Also, the little tutorial messages that flash in the upper left corner do so quite rapidly and often I don’t have enough time to read them. On the way to Horseshoe Outlook (or whatever it’s called) I’m trying to listen to the conversation in the horsedrawn carriage giving me backstory, and suddenly a message says something about Arthur’s temperature getting too hot, but by the time I tried to read it the message disappeared so I only got part of it.
The game mechanics are coming so quickly now that I just hope I get accustomed to the game. I’m assuming I will. It’s just that there is so many things to keep track of — Arthur’s grooming and hygiene, keeping him fed, watching his weight, keeping his temperature optimal, filling up his cores, then all the same stuff for his horse too meanwhile also trying to bond with it, and then keeping the camp going with enough food and money contributions, etc, etc.
Hopefully some of this stuff becomes second nature so I can just enjoy the story and the gameplay.
I will say the characters are endearing so far. I was concerned about playing as an outlaw, but so far the group seems very human and only intent on self preservation and defending themselves against the mistakes they have made. And Arthur is a likable protagonist, which was one of my concerns. I just hope I can stick with it long enough to not be having my brain hurt every time I boot it up because I am straining to remember all the things I need to keep track of and how do use the controls. We’ll see.
Not sure if this the internet over reacting, but apparently Digital Foundry's RDR2 v RDR1 Graphics Comparison video contains story spoilers unless you have reached the Epilogue.
I always try to avoid any stuff like that any way when a new game drops, I've been burned too many times in the past.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
@ApostateMage@andreoni79 That option only seems to come up after you've manually saved to confirm overwriting your autosave file at the next point it would do so.
I end up manually saving at the end of every session too as there's no indicator for when it has saved.
The crowd, accepting this immediately, assumed the anti-Eurasian posters and banners everywhere were the result of acts of sabotage by agents of Goldstein and ripped them from the walls.
One littl detail made me laugh earlier (not really a spoiler but still..) when I came across a possum and it actually played dead. It let me walk up to it and it’s only when I went to skin it that it ran away
I've had a busy weekend so I've not played much. I was in the pub last night, and when the head chef clocked off, he had a couple of drinks and started going round telling everyone the ending to Red Dead! Luckily I managed to avoid him, but what a jackass.
@Th3solution I would say it took me around ten hours to fully feel confident in what I was doing. I don't remember taking so long to fully get used to a game. I'm still learning little things every time I boot it up. Only found out last night that if you double-tap L1, Arthur puts his gun away with a cheeky little spin, instead of just holstering it like normal. Completely useless of course, but still cool
Good job, Parappa. You can go on to the next stage now.
New to the game, so sorry if this is an old news but I found out you can set Hold Button speed 4x in the controls menu. And when you have to pick up multiple items from the same spot, you can simply hold down the button once.
I also saw on here that you can jump straight to the full screen map by pushing and holding options for a second. Beats having to click though the options menu to get to the map.
@Thrillho Yeah, that is pretty awesome. I wonder how often that happens. I’ll have to try.
@Gremio108 Yeah, I have a few hours yet to go before I feel comfortable then. I think there are university courses less complex than this blasted game.
