Aside from fixing bugs, the latest patch for the game allows the player to select skills for their newly fused demons to inherit, putting Nocturne on a much more even footing with modern MegaTen games.

I probably spent way longer then I care to admit trying to get the perfect Lilith with that random skill system of the PS2 original so it's good to hear they've added that in and fixed up some of the bugs it was having @Ralizah
Certainly looking forward to playing this again!

I played it years ago and it might be the best MegaTen game I’ve played, it definitely gives the Persona games a run for their money. I really hope people give it a go but I doubt many ‘Persona fans’ will play it as they’re too busy port begging for Persona 5 on Switch as they’ve never played a game in the MegaTen series and just listen to the Persona 5 soundtrack on YouTube 😛
@Foxy-Goddess-Scotchy The skill inheritance issue was probably my biggest issue with the game in the original, coming from the QoL improvements in SMT IV. It just needlessly makes the game more difficult than it needs to be.
Hopefully they include high quality audio files in the Western release, too.

It's not my favorite MegaTen but definitely among my top picks alongside Digital Devil Saga, Persona 2 and the god-tier Devil Survivor 1
I was initially hesitant on the remaster due to the technical issues and lack of substantial QoL changes but now this might end up being a day one buy for Switch alongside Shin Megami Tensei V. I'll also double dip on a Steam version since that seems increasingly likely given the datamine that happened two months ago
@crimsontadpoles It's definitely one of those RPG series that has somewhat of a high learning curve but rewards you greatly for being able to exploit and take advantage of its mechanics
If you've already played games like Persona 5 you should feel right at home with a mainline SMT game because Persona takes a lot in terms of the dungeon traversal and battling mechanics due to its nature as a Megami Tensei sub series
I have always wanted a chance to get into SMT but just never knew where to start. I am defintely getting smt5 when it releases but might give this a go to.
It's alright if you don't agree with me... I can't force you to be right.
I saw your post in the latest article on Nocturne with you saying that some of other members had convinced you to try this. Hopefully you end up thoroughly enjoying it @LordSteev
Even though I've never been fond of Decarabia's design I gotta admit that's a pretty cool statue of it in that vid @Ralizah
The price is honestly a bit higher then I was expecting, especially for a game I do already own... Oh well. Bring on the 25th!
They were nice enough in a post a week or so ago to answer my questions and go into detail for me about what the game was all about. It sounds like the kind of game I appreciate, and I'm really looking forward to it!
