@KALofKRYPTON Yeah, it's a load of bollocks to be honest. Can't fit three small remasters on a single disc? I don't understand... When a game like Mario Odyssey is only 5GB, I have a hard time believing three Spyro games need to be any bigger than 20GB combined. They could even offer two discs if they really cared, it's not as if the extra disc is going to make them go bankrupt. What's the price of a single Blu-ray in bulk? Like 1 cent, maybe less, maybe a little more. Very cheap, that's for sure!
@KALofKRYPTON If only the first game was done by the time it went gold, I fear for the state it will arrive in. Besides, don't they usually ''finish'' a game with a day-one patch if they're really lazy. This seems to be taking it one step further.
@Octane Perhaps it's that? By the time of printing, the sequels could've been in a bad but patchable state - rather than get them on the disc and playable...

I'll still get it at some point, but yeah, that's weak.

@mrobinson91 Kotaku reported it as a 'one time internet connection'.
I would like to assume that the downloads are DRM locked to the disc, so couldn't be played without it - not affecting resale... I would like to assume that.

@Knuckles-Fajita The Witcher 3 and all its DLC content was around 42GB, and all of it was on a single blu-ray. If they can only get one of the Spyro games on a blu-ray, they're doing something wrong...
Gotta remember, the original Spyro trilogy had unique art, textures, characters, animations, music and voice acting for each individual level. Every world was unique from the last, stage to stage.
Very little, especially in 2 and 3, is reused.
Now blow it up fully remade in modern detail and quality.
At least 50GBs of internal storage. These games are simply HUGE.
This is the thing Xbox and PS4 players have been ignoring. How many of your game ACTUALLY come entirely on the disc. DOOM doesn't. CoDWW2 sure as hell doesn't. They can't reasonably fit in 50GB. PS4 and Xbox One should have used a higher capacity storage medium. And the PS5 and Xbox Two absolutely should, with 4K being 10s of GBs alone just for additional texture detail.
This is why they want us streaming and digital only. Because this stuff is becoming harder to send out.
lol no. They want streaming and digital because it means more revenue for them, and it means they control the market (no second hand games, they decide when the servers end, less price competition, etc.).
I don't believe for a second that this trilogy couldn't fit on a disc. Send out two discs if you have to, they aren't that expensive to print. They're either desperate, or it's a rush job. Since it's Activision, it may be a combination of the two.
