I think the controls are decent, the only problem is the running/walk/stop mechanic... its pretty lousy, but the combat and everything else works pretty well
I beat this game.... All main quests, sidequests, contracts and setera. And can't give it more than 6, in the end.... Graphics is good, and there are some pretty interesting stories..... But main story is pretty stupid and boring, and overall game is filled with glitches, bugs and bad design decisions. It's far better than moronic s*** as Dragon Age 3, though... But almost in every aspect Witcher 3 has some annoying childish flaws.
I'm level 18 now which represents a fairly substantial chunk of time. Why arn't I getting bored of this game like I did DA3? They are fundamentally the same. I think its the grittiness of the world and just how interesting everything is. Even the biographies/enemy codex's are a great read.

I'm level 31 and still at it... The two DLC expansions are supposed to add another 30 hours of gameplay. It's hands down my favorite game this gen.

You on your first run? What kind of level would you be by the end do you suppose? I'm playing it on hardest difficulty now to get the most out of it. I'm reluctant to say it's my favourite game so far this gen, especially with MGS5 incoming, but certainly in terms of open world its the best game I've played. I find western RPG's do get tiresome but they've really nailed it.

Yeah, I'm on my first run. Some of the storyline quests towards the end of the game give you huge XP. I'm really close to the end right now. I put off the main quests for as long as I could. I did pretty much all the side quests besides some horse racing and the card game ones. I did all of the Monster Contracts.
I think I'm about 4 hours from the ending and have just reached level 29. There are some obvious flaws with this game, but for me it's a 10/10. I know some disagree but I've found the pacing of the game fantastic and in my 100 hours I've not been bored once. Despite most side quests being fetch quests, it doesn't feel like that due to the story attached to it.
I've read some of the books and dabbled in previous games and I think understanding the lore and caring about it definitely helps you get the most from the experience. The world in this is not only beautiful, but filled with such diverse and interesting characters/stories. I can't wait to start my next play-through on Death March (what I started playing half way through).
I would say I'm half way through the "ending" and am absolutely blown away. Some seriously incredible moments. It is my favourite game since PS2. (I did mostly skip ps3 gen though lol).
Oh..and Gwent!!!

Wow, quite a low score. Each to their own. Although I really enjoyed DA:3, I did feel like that had a more flawed story line where you became too powerful, too quickly. I also found that the ending was pretty poor considering all the effort I had put in throughout the game to make the right decisions...just ended up with me killing 1 boss in 10 minutes, no big army battles etc. I personally would give DA:3 an 8 or 9 out 10 as it was a solid game, but for me the Witcher is a more interesting, believable world and had a story that I felt more connected to.

I'm just now "full throttle" into this amazing game. Bloodborne took me awhile as my play time fluxuates. But this game; whoa. Fun. I love the ability to choose my path with choices and watch the results. I read a review that mentioned all the misogynistic environments and subject of this game. Well, being a woman gamer, I am definitely sensitive to portrayals of women in video games, culture and movies and there are moments that make me cringe, as it does seem the females get the brunt of the brutality, but so far I've found this less than the Game of Thrones. And if I overhear guards talking about abusing a female, I can walk over and shove a piece of steel up his arse; as it should be.
So far, I'm fully invested in Geralt and enjoying the depth of this game.
If you have the The Witcher 3 season pass Hearts of Stone is all ready listed as free and you can go ahead and pre-order it. It comes with a theme like everything else these days.
Also it's on-sale for $8.50 right now (in the US at least) if you don't have the season pass.
The game is currently on sale in the UK PSN. £34.99 for the standard edition (originally £49.99) or original + season pass for £49.99 (originally £67.99)
