I tried out Thumper since it was free, and at least in VR, it’s pure trance. I see why it’s considered a pretty good game now, because it’s an experience when it’s your entire world similar to Tetris Effect. It sucked me and made me feel like the space beetle lol. Not something I anticipated I would ever say.
@Kidfried@jdv95 You could both try to do what I do in the Souls games, and break them, I spend inordinate amounts of time making my character OP, then absolutely slay the second part of the game, makes NG+ a lot easier as well, I am currently trying to make my character so OP that he can breeze through even NG+2, aiming for that platinum trophy!
Still plugging away on Final Fantasy 7 remake. I completed chapter's 6,7 and 8 I really enjoyed chapter's 7 and 8. The fight with the airbuster I did it first time but it was the first part that I thought would be difficult on the second playthrough on hard if I decide to go for the plat.
@Kidfried Not played BotW (although messed about on it for a bit at work when the Switch was released) but a year ago I was heavily involved in Joker and company's adventures and had a brilliant time. It's a very special game and that's coming from someone not usually interested in JRPGs. Not sure I still am tbh as Persona 5 may be the exception that breaks the rule!
One day I'll play Final Fantasy VII on PS5, that's a proper JRPG right?
@Col_McCafferty Yeah, I had FF7R on my short list of games to play from the backlog, all loaded on my PS4 and all. But now I think I’ll wait and upgrade it to Intergrade and play it with all the PS5 enhancements. Provided I get a PS5 someday.
Edit: and I would assume yes, it’s a JRPG. At least the original game was.
@Arugula I have no clue what Snowrunner even is and never felt the slightest bit of interest to read about it or watch any gameplay footage, despite it coming up on the forums quite regularly. And yet, now your description has me slightly curious because that sounds a little bit like Death Stranding.
“We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them.”
@Arugula@Th3solution I glad I tried Mudrunner on PS Now, as I did not like it at all. After eventually getting stuck in the mud and spending half an hour trying to get unstuck, I moved on. I was after a relaxing chill experience but ended up being really frustrated. Definitely an acquired taste and one to try before you buy.
Life is more fun when you help people succeed, instead of wishing them to fail.
Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt.
Back to Bloodborne now, I thought there was no point wasting a character that was on his way to being OP, level 62 of 99 vitality now, so not long to go, then just have to level Str & Skl from 30 to 50!

@TraCuz- Roughly 70,000. But you know the doll charges you more each time, right? So not as expensive as Dark Souls, I hope to go on to The Old Hunters DLC once I am at 99 vitality, 50 strength and 50 skill.
@TraCuz- In Dark Souls I have to spend over 120,000 if I want to level up my character any further, so can't complain. Thanks, though. What are you playing at the moment, bro?

@TheBrandedSwordsman I've been wanting to get into the Metal Gear Series for a while now. I had the first MGS on PS1 as a kid but couldn't fully comprehend it, and MGS5 Ground Zeros on PS3 which I had a lot of fun with. Back during PS2 was still a time when I didn't buy my own games so I missed out on MGS2-4.
Sony just had a $1 sale for PS Now, and that made me bite. I've been diving into the HD collection, and I just finished MGS2 which let just say now is very relevant in 2021, story and even gameplay. It blows my mind how much interactivity is in that game from 2001. It's an amazing piece of art.
@TraCuz- Isn't a lot of MGS stealth rather than Souls-style finesse of combat? I didn't really dig those type of games when I tried them myself, but, hey, glad you're enjoying them.
I greatly enjoyed what I played of Death Stranding, another Kojima game, but fell off that due to a difficulty spike. Did you play that game? How does it compare to MGS2?
@TheBrandedSwordsman Yeah two completely different styles of games. Stealth games have never been an absolute favorite for me but I can never deny the gem that Dishonored is. Before playing MGS that's the stealth game I'd revere the most.
But literally every game with stealth elements has MGS in its DNA. The whole thing where enemies don't know you're present, you get caught whole place is on alert, they lose sight of you but still know you're around, then finally return to basic patrolling after not finding you. It seems so simple now but when I was playing I realized how many games I've played with this element. Dishonored, Uncharted, Far Cry, Last of Us, just to name a few.
I have not gotten around to Death Stranding, I keep trying to figure out if it's for me or not but ultimately haven't felt compelled to try it yet. But stealth game aside just look up a story summary of MGS2. It will blow your mind how ahead of its time it was, it is very relevant in 2021 and many years to come.
@TheBrandedSwordsman Still playing Witcher 3. Finished the main and secondary quests in Velen but am running around completing contracts.. some of which are a lot more difficult than the main quests!
I assumed I'd just stick to the main story but found I can't resist helping out the local peasantry and finding out what's at those ? locations on the map. I'll be off to the next location soon...maybe...
Great game, great story and great characters. I actually felt sad about something that happened to a character I liked.. there seem to be a few twists and wrinkles in the story.
