Boss game!

My copy came this morning and I've been enjoying a few races this evening. It looks and feels good so far. I've never really been dedicated enough to get very good at any of these games in the past, despite dipping my toe into most of them all the way back to the original PS1 title. Perhaps that'll change with this current iteration.

Not that the licensed soundtrack isn't decent, but I'm really liking how easy it is to mute the in-game music and just whack on my own Spotify playlist instead for added variation.

Will need a few more practice laps before I go nose to nose with the community here, I think!

Got my copy this morning, complete with PS1 themed sleeve and 4 themes. Currently going through 2048.

Mine should be downloaded any minute now, might have a cheeky race before bed. Hope my skillz haven't rusted over too much.

Going through 2048...I was never THAT good but now I am utterly miserable XD. I will try to get better.

I put all of my early effort into Wipeout HD, which was brilliant! But there's no trophies attached to that game other than 'gold every event in HD and fury'.

Negatives so far;
I'm not so sure that the shooting bombs event should be in the career mode at all. It should be in a mini game section, it's fun but so different to the time trials, races and eliminations.
Photo mode is rubbish.

The tunes are a bit too cheesy.

The Hud changes when flicking through w048 to fury/HD or vice versa puts you off.

Furthermore to the comment above, I'm playing both MK on Switch and Wipeout on pro. Ive got to admit, I prefer Wipeout for single player by far.

Sammy's review was spot on in many ways, if they rejigged the campaigns so they combined the games, had GPs like in MK, had some proper battle courses and sorted out the track (music) list we could be looking at a potential goty. As it is, it's a must buy. But with a bit of thought it could be the base for something really really special.

Via Eurogamer, those on a pro 4k set up turn off motion blur for a full 4k 60fps game. It looks absolutely amazing.

@themcnoisy I really like the motion blur personally. I know everyone's obsessed with native, but I have to question how noticeable the drop to checkerboarding is.

@get2sammyb what's your setup Sammy, do you have hdr? Mines a 48 inch but I sit dangerously close to my TV.

I think the hdr is also brilliant in this game with the neon, engines and daylight streaking through.

@themcnoisy I actually still play on a 1080p screen TBH. HDR is the best thing ever, though.

Been playing this for most of this evening, and it's brilliant I've been playing 2048's campaign and it looks great and plays fantastically. Very chuffed with it.

2048 is HARD! I can get gold medals in HD/Fury without any troubles (for now) but elite passes on 2048 are another thing altogether...

@Feena I think you need to get more vehicles to be competitive towards elite passes. There's a time trial early doors and I was so far away as to be impossible with the feisar craft. I may read a guide to be sure.

Had a very hard time last night,my muscle memory is gone ..thats sound rather rude..Still,i am impressed so far overall with the little bit i struggled through..Its a bit surreal because i thought i would never get to play Wipeout Again,its brings me much joy.i will endevour to get my skills up to scratch again.Hopefully join up with one or two of you guys here for some mp.

Wipeout has a weird difficulty curve. Some missions are borderline impossible then the next one you waltz through with an elite pass.

^ some of the time trials in 2048 are making me sweat...I' also pretty confident I won't ever have an epileptic episode n my life after reaching zone 65 on a event .

@Feena well done, @Quintumply and I couldn't even make 35 in multi-player yesterday.
