As the launch of the next generation is so close I have a simple question.
Have any of your freinds, who were Xbox owners for the current generation, converted over to Playstation for nex gen?
Myself, I brought a PS3 originally then a Xbox 360. I used the PS3 for about a year or so but moved over to Xbox 360 due to my friends being there. But I then moved back over becasue I was becoming sick of what the Gold Service was becoming. Since then I have sat alone on the PS3 but now all of my friends are joining me on the PS4! Happy Times!
A couple of my friends who were way into Xbox 360 are getting a ps4 just because of microsoft's policies. They won't go back even with the reversal because they say Microsoft is likely to change it again.

I have a friend who has gone across to PC from Xbox! He hated the policies & would not even think of buying one now, even though they have done a 180!
My boyfriend was an Xbox 360 fanatic, and was always saying "PS3 has no games" as soon as I mentioned anything to do with Sony or PlayStation. Now he's pre-ordering a PS4 and constantly talking-down the Xbox One.
most of my friends have done the same thing and don't want a XB1 at all
and to be honest i can understand what they mean after all, all MS are doing is a system update and turning all the stuff off which means all the stuff is still in the console so they could re-activate them at any time
as for me i was only ever going to get one of them this time (i normally get all of them) and that was always the PS4 because i think PlayStation gives me a better personal gaming experiance
"I pity you. You just don't get it at all...there's not a thing I don't cherish!"
"Now! This is it! Now is the time to choose! Die and be free of pain or live and fight your sorrow! Now is the time to shape your stories! Your fate is in your hands!

Same here. In past generations I have been lucky enough to be able to afford all of them but times have changed & I have to choose one. For the past two years Sony have really impressed me and this is why I will be going back to the Sony Family!
I know several people who are switching from Xbox to PlayStation next gen - mostly because they've been dissatisfied with how Microsoft have handled the Xbox One's reveal. There's also the strong opinion that the Xbox 360 has paled in comparison to the PS3's gaming offerings over the past few years.
I even know people who still think the Xbox One doesn't allow used games. If the console does badly at launch, Microsoft only have themselves to blame. Such awful messaging.

Oh dear, not one of those...
I think there's been a bit of a shift back towards PlayStation among people I know, but I still think it's going to be tough for Sony once the Call of Duty and now FIFA adverts start promoting the Xbox versions specifically. I really feel like tradtionally "Xbox" territories could swing back towards PlayStation, though -- I really wouldn't be surprised if PS4 became the platform of choice in UK.
They really need to maintain this current momentum for that to happen, though. And they need to get the big brands on their side. Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed, and Destiny are all going to be marketed as PlayStation games, which is huge, but they're not CoD/FIFA huge.

I think MS only go for CoD & Fifa because I think if they look at the statistics that is what the majority of Xbox Live users play. My friends over on Xbox are all playing one of those games! I keep telling them they are missing out on great exclusives on the PS3 but they are just holding on until the PS4 comes out. I really hate when people say there are no games on PS3/Vita. It really angers me as I am having a blast on those consoles at the moment.
Perfect example: Out of all my friends, I am the only one who has played The Last of Us! I have no one to talk about it too!

well that's what these forums are for (and i still haven't played The Last of Us saving for a PS4)

I've got a few friends switching back over to Playstation after going with a 360 over PS3. The only reason most people I know went with 360 was because it was much more affordable at the time and frankly the PS3 wasn't doing anything to make it look like it was worth $50 more than a 360 let alone $200. I'm very interested to see how this gen plays out though. A lot of what was wrong with PS3 early seems to be fixed this time around, but MS does seem to have most U.S. gamers wrapped around its finger.
You people talk about it like you can only own one. :/
I don't know which one I'll get first. Whichever one has the better games in its first few years, which could be either one at this rate. But I'll eventually get both.
As for my friends, pretty much all of them don't buy stuff at launch. It just doesn't make much sense when you could buy one later for less money while there's also more games out (which will also cost less money).
By the way, why does anyone think that Microsoft will turn the original Xbox One policies back on? If they did that, consumers wouldn't trust buying their products anymore. And Microsoft would loose money.
Microsoft doesn't like losing money.
Best thread ever
Feel free to add me on Miiverse or PSN.
Miiverse is Moomoo14, PSN is Moomoo1405390
I'm planning on getting all 3 consoles. PS4 first, without question, but since MS has reversed its policies I'd be lying if I said I'm not going to buy an Xbox One at some point. Halo is still my favorite franchise.
None have outright decided, but I know 3 who were clear XBox fans who are seriously considering swapping. They are waiting and watching at this point. Don't know any PS3 fans who are thinking the reverse at the moment.
Ayup, for sure. Most of my friends (including me) owned an Xbox 360 for various reasons but are switching back to Sony because of Microsofts DRM policies and their poor handling of the thing. Most (again, including me) owned Playstations before the 360 but won't go back to MS regardless of their several 180s.

I can only speak for me, but I can only own/afford one...at least during the next years or so. It's not only the price for the console (and a second controller or so), but also the price for games.
I'm with Gamer83 on this one...somewhere down the line, I can see me buying an X1 for Halo...but that won't happen for some years and before two or three price drops.
I got a xbox and xbxo 360 but i always remembered what MS did when the xbox360 launched. The xbox was dropped like if it was a hot coockie
It was a different time though. Everybody gets pissed that MS dropped the Xbox so quick but it's not exactly like Nintendo was supporting GC brilliantly after Wii came out and don't even get me started on 2011 and 12 for the Wii, two of the most pathetic years I've ever seen for a console, ever. The reason MS dropped the Xbox was because it was a money-losing venture. It was an experiment from the beginning, and yes, the system was successful enough for MS to gain some level of credibility (for lack of a better word) in the console market but it only ended up selling about 25 mil worldwide. The 360 on the other hand has been a massive success, selling well over 70 mil, cutting big time into Sony's marketshare and it wasn't near the money-sink that the original Xbox was. MS seems to be moving most of its first party support to the Xbox One (which is the right decision) but third parties still have a lot lined up for the 360 and it'll still get plenty of good XBLA games for at least another year, possibly 2 or 3. The system has performed too well for MS to completely drop it after the X1 comes out.
I never was a M$ or Sony fan, always PC! I have had an Xbox for a while but it was a dust colletor, I cancelled my gold subscriptions and was totally pissed to discover that my console was now useless. After E3, that was the last straw for M$, it was totally clear they cared only about one thing... they are now on the banned list ! Sony on the other hand... well, I have a new found love for them <3 Since E3 I have bought a PS Vita, a PS3 and looking forward to getting a PS4 next year
IMO, the PC will always be the best gaming platform in terms of graphics/performance (hardware dependant), diversity (mod cummunities), game prices (steam sales) but all of the focus is on the Consoles - I'm sure because from a Publisher point its where the money is (ever rising cost of games, subscriptions, etc...). However, I am looking at easing my way out of PC gaming and settling for more of casual console gaming experience. Its definitely more social, since more people play consoles vs PC (that I know anyway) and its nice to not be strapped to a pc chair sat facing a monitor, alone instead, having the lads around or attempting some co-op action with the GF. We will see
