@Th3solution I have played a few of the "Persona" games (3,4 and 5) but outside of a few "Final Fantasy" and "Tales" games I wouldn't describe myself as a big JRPG fan (I've yet to try "Xenoblade" for example) but I've been told by a few people who are that the story (the bit I'm really interested in) in "ToCS" is one of the best that the genre has to offer. I'm happy to give it a try.

OMG !
I have successfully got Spyro Reignited Trilogy 2019 version with 3 games legit in 1 disc and the size was 36.24 GB after installing ! 😄
Well, I only got Spyro Reignited from that bundle without CTR since I bought the used game from local seller and I was so lucky to get that Spyro PS4 game with very cheap price, under 300,000 IDR.
The game took quite a long time to install so I have to play Spyro 1 for at least 5 - 10 minutes in order to able playing Spyro 2 and 3 as they took time to install from the disc.

Well, my impression so far with my game purchase:

Spyro Reignited PS4 (2019) : OMG ! Legit 3 games in 1 disc, no downloading from internet.
Something that I have been looking for.
Best purchase so far.

Race with Ryan PS4 : Surprisingly, the driving button schemes felt almost exactly like Mario Kart games with X button to accelerate, R2 to drift and L2 to use the item. It was pretty good cartoonish kart game even using Ryan as the mascot. Better thing, I could mute the narration so I didn't hear the annoying commentary from Ryan. 🤭

@Anti-Matter Good find! I recently got Spyro second hand too, but have not installed it yet so don't know if all 3 games are on the disc or not.

I have to admit like Sol I wouldn't have pegged you to be all that interested in the JRPG genre either @LN78.

I've played Cold Steel I & II myself and I wouldn't say the story is anything to write home about personally. I think you'd find the characters especially tropey (even for modern anime standards) and some of them are woefully under utilised.

... I do hope you end up enjoying the titles though 😊

@HallowMoonshadow Oh dear. Well if I don't find the story very compelling then at least I didn't spend a fortune on them - and they do seem to be holding their value pretty well for a chip-in at CEX.

@JohnnyShoulder
Look at the disc cover.
If you find year 2019 on the disc cover, that was the complete version (version 1.03) and it will take 36.24 GB on PS4 storage.
Also, the 2019 version can be founded from CTR + Spyro Reignited bundle (PAL only).

@Anti-Matter Ah, I've just looked and it does state on the back of the case that games 2 and 3 require downloading. Oh well, no biggie though. Thanks for the info!

Yeah maybe I'm being a tad presumptious @LN78 but from your other posts around the forum I have sincere doubts you'd get much from it. I'd love to be proven wrong though.

It's enjoyable enough don't get me wrong but from all the Falcom games I've played (Cold Steel 1 & 2 and YS VIII) they're VERY slow burns and whilst the characters are all likeable enough like I said they are VERY tropey.

Of course if you didn't think much of the story in Divinity Original Sin II which I praised then completely disregard this! 😄

@HallowMoonshadow I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't even started "DOS2" yet. I gave the first game to my brother when he was on the lookout for a meaty RPG but he's really dragging his heels in finishing it and giving it back - I dont want to play Part 2 without having played Part 1 first. They're both high on my Winter playlist, though!

I finally got around to playing through DOS I a couple of months ago @LN78 (during my time off work teaching during the school break/summer holidays) and didn't like the story at all.

In fact I very much did the same as your brother, dragging my heels through the second and third acts. There's a "reveal" of why the main antagonist became the way they did and it sucked all the enjoyment I was having from the game.

I honestly thought it was something you'd find in an episode of Eastenders rather then this.

Aside from three characters who return in the sequel (two with diminished roles and the third's being expanded with a completely different design) & it being set the same world and high fantasy setting (though it's a 1000 or so years into the future I think?) it shares very little with DOS 1.

The writing in patticular is rather different in tone with a more serious plot which actually involves you a fair bit more then the passive role you have in DOS 1 (which was exceedingly light hearted and comedic too).

@Kairu Blasphemous is one of my favourite games out of the games I’ve played through PS Plus. There’s just so much to find in the world and the artistic direction is really interesting.

@Kairu Brilliant game. Really liked the setting which I've not had that much experience of. Mahoosive difficulty spike going into NG+ I thought though.

Just picked up The Last Door - Complete Edition to add to my October spoopy Halloween playlist. Not usually one for point and click style games but the story sounds like something I might be into and currently cheap enough in one of the PS store sales.

Saw Horizon Forbidden West for $35 so I went ahead and picked it up. It was not a matter of ‘if’ but ‘when’ I would buy it, and there’s been remarkably few PS4 copies in the wild so I snatched this copy when I saw it.

@RogerRoger It was an impulse buy, like many of my purchases are. I have no idea when I’ll get to it, but I am getting closer to the point of concern that I won’t be able to
avoid spoilers much longer.

And despite it being my bread-and-butter, I don’t actually have all that many third person open world action RPGs in my backlog. I have a couple Assassins Creed games, Days Gone, and NieR Relicant, and maybe a couple smaller titles, but not as many as I thought. When I recently got the itch to play one of these, I booted up Immortals and it satiated me for a while. I just need to go back to that first and then see where the wind carries me but I like having Forbidden West in my back pocket now.

Just bought a copy of Bloodstained Ritual of the Night after I noticed the price pre-owned copies are going for. Finally get to see what the hype was about... Well finally when I get around to it of course.

Just bought Star Ocean: Till the End of Time. Apparently this one is one of the better games in the series, so I'm looking forward to giving it a go.

HallowMoonshadow

Hopefully you enjoy it @LtSarge.

Unfortunately the PS4 port of SO3 has a bit of a crashing problem.

It's not 100% of the time but it seems to be that if you keep making the map bigger and smaller it bugs out and crashes it.

I recall it crashing on me a number of times by doing this but it was seemingly only at one section of the game in which I could consistantly get this to happen to me and like 80% of my time was smooth sailing. Hopefully it's a-ok for you.

For an older PS2 title with no autosave, which you can only save at designated save points and an action JRPG... Just make sure you save every time you can! (The actual PS2 version doesn't have this problem either).

I think the port/remaster of Star Ocean 1 is perfectly fine though (I haven't played it or really looked it up mind you) and Star Ocean: The Last Hope has ran exceedingly well (besides some very notable camera stutter on the overworld).

So after a bit of chatter on the Trails into Reverie article on the front page, I’ve gone ahead and ordered Trails of Cold Steel 1 & 2. I’m pretty sure that they’re turn-based JRPG’s… and I’ve been very vocal about my inability to click with turn-based combat mechanics but I just feel drawn to the series. I think it’s the unashamed positivity I see from everyone who plays this series… and I think that I have to at least give them a try I guess.

@colonelkilgore I did the exact same thing a few weeks ago! I haven't started them yet, though. I was under the impression that 1-4 was the complete story of this 'arc' in the overall series but obviously it looks like I was misinformed.
