Topic: assassins creed shadows amazon preorder cancled and refunded

i haven't seen an article about this yet , but i just got a email from amazon saying they have to cancel my preorder for assassins creed shadow, saying i'll get a refund and credit for the inconvenience of it being canceled. normally if its delayed they just move it to the next date , so not sure what this means for the game.

One company said it is redesigning the statue for the collectors edition, and I'm pretty sure Ubi will be redesigning visual elements of whatever other editions they had on there, which might mean it has to have a whole new store page for the new release. Can't have people pre order one thing and get something different.

If they cancel the game I'm personally going scorched earth, so hopefully they don't as it will save me from having to do that 😂😂

Yeah I’d actually pretty devastated if this game didn’t actually/eventually get released. The open-world/action rpg AC’s (Origins, Odyssey… & I’m yet to play Valhalla) are some of my favourite games. Really looking forward to Shadows… regardless of the furore.

@colonelkilgore launching a push square kick-starter for storming Ubi headquarters globally if they do. The French love a good riot, first class tickets for all to their nearest Ubi location 👌

@FuriousMachine it's simply about the principles of not giving in to the vocal minority who aren't even bothered about the game in the first place. Push members can be the ringleaders, the general public the fodder! 🚨🔥😶‍🌫️ haha

@twitchtvpat In the same post that announced the delay, they said pre-orders would be refunded. It also said new pre-orders would include the first DLC for free. If anything, the weird part is it took this long for Amazon.

@Voltan thanks , weird that it took that long for amazon to start doing the refund / canceling it then. i noticed there is now a limited edition for preorder and no longer the ablity to preoder the gold version , unless they are ditching the gold version and just making the "limited " edition the gold version at the lower price. which if thats the case i'll take.

@PorkChopExpress yes it is the state of the world rn unfortunately. It’s just my opinion… and I probably sound like an old-fogie for saying it but it’s an entire generation brought up on social media, which is designed to generate clicks through negativity. The internet is such a wonderful creation but if you know anything of Carl Jung’s psychology, social media is almost like the internets shadow self.

Anyway… my ideal AC destination &/or era. It’s never going to happen as the most recent game was set in Britain just 4 years ago but I would love a game set around the Arthurian legend.

@PorkChopExpress yeah that introduction to new neighbours says it all really doesn’t it 😅. Great username btw Big Trouble… holds a special place in my heart, would love nothing more than a reboot/sequel or even a video game based on it.

Yep, this is the way. Hopefully it leads to some improvements in the game, but come release it is still going to get slaughtered because the vocal minority can't handle a black man and a woman in the same game. The fact a lot of vilest shouting was stuff like "they can't even make a game set in Japan with a Japanese protagonist" just shows how ridiculous it is, as the assassin in the game that you can actually play as for the entire game is... Japanese.

But anyway, Arthurian legend. Really? Really? 😅 it'd be interesting to see how they could get an AC out of that, some standalone game, maybe, but not an AC. Although, to be fair, it was the French that really ran with making it interesting, wasn't it. So who knows.

If you want something based around Arthurian legend just play or read the Witcher 😅 Sapkowski heavily borrowed from that fairly consistently, and it's just about as real 😛

@Ravix the moment ubi made an AC prior to the Assassins being a thing… well all bets are off. They could make a bloody Neanderthal game that has extremely loose roots that feed through to the Assassins being a thing now 🤣

@PorkChopExpress I think you can choose either for most missions. I'm most intrigued about the story of Japan being told from another perspective, something people can't wrap their heads around as being a thing, despite it being common in some of the best films and tv ever made. It is clearly going to be set up that Yasuke is all about living for and supporting the culture he has adopted (potentially stubbornly and blindly, up to a point), whilst Naoe has become disillusioned with how that same culture is a breeding ground for corruption and persecution, whilst the population suffers under the control of "whatever the game's templars/cultists are"

And to me that seems like the most interesting the series has been for a long time, and has potential for actual genuine depth and nuance 😱

@colonelkilgore but neanderthals were real, to be fair 😅 I think they handled Origins pretty well anyway, despite the cult element getting incredibly annoying by Valhalla.

I think a more global AC game could work, as long as it's not too much like Watch Dogs 3. But having multiple Assassin's spread out over multiple locales over a period where a lot was going on would be interesting. The crusades, perhaps.

And have they ever assassinated a pope in a game? That could make for some fun headlines 😂😂😂😬😬😬

@Ravix Lee was one of the leading members of the Churchill’s guerrilla group recently depicted in Ritchie’s Ungentelmanly Warfare film, where Fleming was more of an advisor than a combatant. I think you’re probably right in Bond being an amalgamation of real-life sources though.
